DESCRIPTION
The Edelbrock Performer 3-piece intake manifold is designed for street high performance use
with Edelbrock Twin Cam EFI Performer RPM heads only. This intake manifold is designed to
make excellent power increases in the stock rpm range of fuel injected, Harley-Davidson
Twin Cam®engines (idle to 6000 rpm). This manifold and heads feature a rectangular shaped
intake port for a noticeable increase in air flow. This .125" raised rectangular intake port also
helps to increase the velocity of the incoming air for more power. This intake manifold can
only be used on Edelbrock heads because of the unique port shape. The Performer
manifold fits fuel injected Twin Cam 88 based motors with Edelbrock Performer RPM heads.
It is designed to accept the stock 44mm throttle body. NOTE: A 4mm ball end Allen wrench
or 4mm ball end Allen driver is required to properly tighten the throttle body mounting screws.

MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY
1. Inspect manifold for any nicks or other damage on the
sealing surfaces.
2. Apply a light coating (one drop) of brake cylinder
assembly lube, or a light film of white grease to each of
the o-rings on the
stock fuel injectors
and press them
carefully into the
intake manifold.
3. Carefully slip the
factory fuel rail over
Apply light
coat of
brake lube
or white
grease to
each o-ring
the fuel injectors and
press down until the fuel injectors are seated into the fuel
rail. NOTE: It may be helpful to press one injector into
the fuel rail at a time. The o-rings will allow enough flex
to maneuver the fuel
rail over each injector
individually.
4. Using the supplied
4mm x .7, 16mm long
Press
firmly to
seat the
fuel rail
socket head cap
screws, secure the fuel
rail to the intake
manifold. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.
5. Note that flanges are marked front and rear. Place
flanges on manifold with the 30° tapered side facing out
(toward the head) and the slotted bolt holes to the rear of
the manifold.
6. Lubricate grommets with a lightweight oil such as fork oil
or brake assembly lube (not brake fluid). Note that the
grommets are rectangular, and will only fit on manifold
one way. Push grommets onto manifold as far as they will
go, with the tapered side facing the manifold.

MANIFOLD INSTALLATION
Manifold installation will usually be done along with
installation of Edelbrock cylinder heads. Refer to cylinder
head instructions for step-by-step procedures, if necessary.
These instructions cover only the procedures that apply to
Edelbrock 3-piece intake manifolds.
1. Place manifold in position on cylinder heads, being
careful not to pinch or fold-over the grommets.
2. Start all four manifold bolts and washers by hand, then
tighten each bolt gradually, moving from bolt-to-bolt in
small steps. There is no room for a torque wrench, but
final torque should be very firm (18-23 ft./lbs.). If desired,
you may use a non-permanent locking compound, such
as green Locktite®, on bolt threads. NOTE: You must use
the AN washers supplied on the manifold bolts to prevent
over-stressing and cracking the flanges.
3. Install the factory fuel injector retaining bracket over the
rear of the fuel rail to secure the fuel injectors.
4. Attach the factory fuel
line to the fuel rail using
the stock retaining clip
and Torx screw. NOTE:
Use care not to damage
the stock fuel line oring seal.
Use factory
retaining clip and
Torx screw to
secure fuel line
TROTTLE BODY INSTALLATION
1. Insert the factory MAP sensor into the Edelbrock intake
manifold.
2. Apply a light film of white grease, or brake cylinder
assembly lube to the throttle body o-ring seal to hold it in
place during installation.
3 Install the throttle body onto the intake manifold using the
supplied 4mm x .7, 20mm long socket head capscrews.
Make sure the tab on the throttle body lines up with the
MAP sensor to hold it in place. NOTE: When installing the
throttle body, the use of a ball-end 4mm Allen wrench or
4mm ball-end Allen driver is necessary for tightening of
the capscrews.
Because the 3-piece manifold “floats” between the two
cylinder heads, it is very important that the throttle body is
properly supported to prevent manifold droop and resulting in
leakage at the grommets. Be sure that the air cleaner
backing plate is secured or that the necessary air cleaner
support brackets are used.
