1. IMPORTANT REMARK Congratulations. You are now the owner of the result of careful design and exquisite
manufacture. Thank you for having chosen our powered loudspeaker cabinet VERSO P. In order to get the optimum operation and efficiency from this unit, it is VERY IMPORTANT
- before you plug anything - to read this manual very carefully and bear in mind all considerations
specified within it. We strongly recommend that its maintenance be carried out by our Authorised Technical services.
2. WARNINGS
This equipment does not contain any parts that can be adjusted by the user. Do not use this appliance near water. Do not expose the equipment to splashes.
Do not place receptacles containing water on them. Do not place the equipment near heat sources, spotlights or stoves. Use only the accessories specified by the manufacturer that are appropriate for each
connection.
To ensure effective protection against fire risks, replace the fuse by another of the same
type as indicated on the unit cover.
Keep these instructions and respect the warnings contained in them.
3. INTRODUCTION The VERSO / VERSO P loudspeaker cabinet have been designed to cover a wide range of
applications. From conference rooms, where considerable intelligibility is required, to outdoor applications such as marquees, mobile discos, meetings, presentations, etc. These are situations in which good sound projection is necessary, together with a high sound pressure level, reliability of operation and easy placement on stage. The VERSO / VERSO P series is adapted to a wide range of applications in which simplicity of installation and use is an important requirement.
In some of these applications you need an element which strengthens the lower end of the
audible spectrum, i.e. the lower frequencies or sub-bass. The VERSO SB115P self-powered subwoofer is ideal for this task.
4
4. USE The VERSO SB115P operate at a voltage of 115/230 V AC (selector switch on rear panel)
and at 50-60Hz. Always ensure the mains selector switch is correctly positioned before starting up the unit: otherwise serious damage might be caused.
Ensure that the mains cable is not mixed with the audio signal cables, thereby preventing
interferences and buzzing.
To protect the system from potential electrical overloads there is a T5A 250V 5x20 type
mains fuse. In the event of fusing, disconnect the appliance and replace it by another with identical characteristics. If the new fuse blows immediately, consult our Technical Service.
ATTENTION: DO NOT SHORT-CIRCUIT THE PROTECTION CIRCUIT OR INSTALL A FUSE WITH A VALUE HIGHER THAN THE ORIGINAL ONE. WARNING: The fuse must be replaced by a qualified technician.
AC power is supplied to the unit via the included IEC cable and the unit is turned on using
the I/O switch. This switch illuminates when the unit is operating.
The VERSO SB115P has two balanced XLR audio input connectors, labelled INPUT L and
R. Feed them a mono or stereo line level signal: the SB115P processes mono signals and therefore sums L and R input signals to work on a valid signal. You can link a second VERSO SB115P or other auxiliary equipment using L and R STACK outputs, also available on XLR connectors. The L and R STACK output signal is a copy of the signal received at L and R INPUT.
The VERSO SB115P control panel also offers the following user controls and indicators:
PHASE: NORMAL/INVERT. This switch allows to invert the input signal phase, in
order to align the reproduced signal with signals from the other speakers of the system.
LPF: 100Hz/150Hz. Upper cut-off frequency selector for the internal low-pass filter,
determining the sub-bass frequency range the unit will work on. Select a position according to the acoustic speakers SB115P should complement, the type of audio material and the room features.
VOL: Control knob for adjusting the volume of the unit.
SP (Signal Present): LED indicator confirming the presence of an input signal.
CLIP: LED indicator showing internal amplifier saturation due to an excess input
signal.

5. PLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION Please observe the following general rules: As a subwoofer, the VERSO SB115P has been designed to be installed in discrete places.
Low frequencies are considered to be non-directional so the VERSO SB115P can be perfectly placed in corners, under a table, behind curtains... that will not notably affect its output. Generally, it should be known that placing it close to various surfaces will increase its efficiency. Consequently, the sound pressure level will be higher if you place the speaker on the ground in a corner rather that just beside a wall and even more that in the centre of a room.
On the left side of the enclosure, threads allow to install the QRA+WH200 transport wheels
accessory kit. Ask your agent for more information about it.
On the other hand, the SB115P is designed to be combined with VERSO/VERSO P series
acoustic speakers in several ways:
Installed independently on the floor.
Mounting a pole (POLE01) on the 35 mm pole mount socket of the SB115P
upper face, and a VERSO/VERSO P over it.
If the SB115P is used in combination with VERSO12 or VERSO12P enclosures, these ones may be directly placed on the upper face of SB115P, using the 3 circular recesses matching the position of the VERSO12/12P rubber feet.
To facilitate the vertical stack of several SB115P, the unit upper face has 4 circular recesses matching the position of its rubber feet.
There is no rule governing the number of mid/high speakers per subwoofer. It mainly depends on the subwoofer location and on the room acoustics. Thus in a highly reflective room, a subwoofer may even damage intelligibility while several subwoofers could be necessary in a room with highly absorptive surfaces.
Always place the speakers on solid and firm surfaces.
Although the speakers can operate outdoor, they should not be subjected to climatic stress like sunshine or rain.
Adapt the sound pressure levels to the diffusion needs.

6. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Ground loops: Ensure at all times that the signal sources reaching the unit and all the devices connected to its output do not have interconnected grounds, i.e., they should not be connected to ground through two or more different routes, since this could cause buzzing that would affect the sound reproduction quality. If cable shielding are connected to the chassis, they should be never interconnected, in order to avoid ground loops.
Audio connections: As a general rule, try to ensure that the signal connections are as short as possible and use the best quality connectors and cables. Poor quality of the connections and/or cable used could lead to an important deterioration of the sound reproduction quality. The Ecler catalogue contains the necessary cabling references.
Background noise: The use of active short-circuitry will product a more or less high level of background noise, depending on the configuration. The VERSO P series has been designed to reduce background noise level to a minimum. In all cases, it should be mentioned that the noise level obtained is directly dependent on the quality of all the elements connected in the installation, and the correct installation and use thereof.
Cleaning: The front panel should not be cleaned with dissolvent or abrasive substances because silk-printing could be damaged. To clean it, use a soft cloth slightly wet with water and neutral liquid soap; dry it with a clean cloth. Be careful that water never gets into the unit through the holes of the front panel.
