Application
Easy Heat special purpose magnetic contactors are designed for
the control of electric heating or snow melting equipment. Magnetic
contactors connect and disconnect power supply and load in
response to the closing and opening of a pilot control contact
(thermostat, switch, snow sensors, etc.). They provide dependable
full voltage control of resistance heating loads. These controls are
available in six ratings from 40 to 112 NON-INDUCTIVE amperes
at 120 to 480 volts. All contactors are 3 pole, with coil voltages
of 120 and 208/240 available.
Construction
Compact — Space-saving dimensions mean smaller panels and
more wiring room.
Straight-through Wiring — Line terminals are located at the
top, load terminals at the bottom. This construction eliminates
the necessity of looping wires around the control and reduces
wiring costs.
Mounting — Contactors are designed for mounting on a vertical
surface. Side-by-side grouping is possible since all terminals
are front accessible and isolated from adjacent controls by
molded barriers.
Interchangeable Mounting — The control can be fastened on
a panel by using a combination of multiple mounting holes and
slots provided.
Terminals — Line and load terminals are supplied with pressure
connectors. Pilot control wires can be attached to the line terminals
by using integral auxiliary quick connectors.
Arc Box — Molded of glass-filled thermosetting material, it
withstands arc tracking and prevents flash-over.
Contacts — Made of silver-cadmium oxide that resists welding,
arc erosion, and mechanical wear, these critical components are
bonded to rugged backing material.
Coil — Encapsulated in a moisture-proof epoxy that resists
mechanical, electrical, and thermal stresses, the coil also serves
as a guide for the moving armature assembly. It is equipped
with terminals having both pressure and quick-connectors.
Connections may be made either by inserting the stripped wire
under the screw head and tightening or by pressing on a quickconnector. Coils are available for all standard voltages and
frequencies. They pull in with a maximum of 85% rated volts
and drop out at approximatley 60% of rated volts.
Ratings —The ampere ratings shown in the table are for
continuous duty on resistance heating loads.
Enclosure — Contactors are supplied in a NEMA type 1 General
Purpose Enclosure. This enclousre protects personnel from
accidental contact with electrical apparatus. It meets the needs
of indoor applications in normal atmosphere free of excessive
moisture, dust and explosive materials.
