When using an electrical appliance, basic pre cautions should always be followed, including the following:

This vacuum cleaner is for dom estic use only. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfa ces.1. Do not handle plug or vacuum cle aner with wet hands.2. Do not allow the vacuum cleaner t o be used as a toy. Close attention is ne cessary when used by or near children.3. Do not use with damage d cable or plug. If the supply cable is dam aged, it must be replaced by Dyson’s authorised ser vice 4. centres in order to avoid a hazard. If the vacuum cleaner is not f unctioning properly, has been dropped, damaged, lef t outdoors, or immersed in liquid, do not use, 5. contact the Dys on Customer Care Helpline. Do not use the vacuum cleane r if any parts appear to be faulty, missing or damag ed.6. Ensure all parts inclu ding the clear bin are securely at tached before using or carrying the vacu um cleaner.7. This vacuum cleaner is not inte nded for use by persons (including children) with reduce d physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or 8. lack of experience an d knowledge, unless they have been given supe rvision or instruction concernin g use of the vacuum cleaner by a person responsible f or their safety. Children should be superv ised to ensure that they do not play with the vacuum cle aner. Do not leave vacuum cleane r when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use, and b efore performing user maintenance, 9. connecting or discon necting the hose or changin g accessories. Store the vacuum cleaner in doors. Do not use or store this vacuum cleaner be low 0°C (32°F). Ensure that the vacuum clea ner is 10. at room temperature be fore operating. Put the vacuum cleaner away af ter use with the cable stored safely, to prevent trip ping hazards. If the vacuum cleaner overh eats it will cut-out. It must be switched of f, unplugged and allowed to co ol down before attempt ing 11. to check filters or for bl ockages. Ensure any blockage is cleare d before restarting the vacuum cleane r. Turn off all controls before unplug ging.12. Do not unplug by pulling on cable. To unplug, grasp the pl ug, not the cable.13. Do not pull or carry by cab le, use cable as a handle, close a door on cable, or pull ca ble around sharp edges or corne rs. Do not 14. run vacuum cleaner over cable. K eep cable away from heated s urfaces. The use of an extens ion cable is not recommended.15. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all par ts of body away from openings and moving par ts, such as the brush bar.16. Do not put any object into o penings. Do not use with any ope ning blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may 17. reduce air flow. Switch off an d unplug the vacuum cleaner befo re attempting to remove any blockag e. Take extra care when vacuuming on st airs. Do not work with the vacuum cleaner above you on the s tairs. 18. Keep the vacuum cleaner o n the floor. Do not put the vacuum cleaner on ch airs, tables etc.19. Do not shake the vacuum cleane r or press the cyclone release button w hile carrying the va cuum cleaner, or it could fall and 20. cause injury. Do not use to pick up flammable o r combustible liquids, such as petro l, or use in areas where they may be pres ent.21. Do not pick up anything th at is burning or smoking, such as cigaret tes, matches, or hot ashes.22. Check to ensure your elec tricity supply matches that shown on th e rating plate. The vacuum cleaner m ust only be used as rated.23. Use only as described in t his manual. Use only Dyson recommended at tachments.24. Do not use without the cl ear bin and filters in place.25. Do not lubricate any par ts, or carry out any maintenance or repair work ot her than that shown in this manual, or as ad vised by 26. the Dyson Custom er Care Helpline.

USING YOUR DYSON VACUUM CLEAN ER
PLEASE N OTE: Always ex tend the cable fully to t he red tape before use .• Fine dust such a s plaster or flour sho uld only be vacuumed in ve ry small • amounts. Do not use the vacu um cleaner to pick up sha rp hard objects, suc h as small toys, • pins, paper clip s etc. Consult your fl ooring manufact urer’s recommended in structions bef ore • vacuuming and ca ring for your flooring, r ugs and carpets. S ome carpets will fuzz if a rota ting brush bar is used w hen vacuuming. If this h appens, we recommend va cuuming in hard floors mo de and consulting wit h your flooring manufacturer. If used in a garag e, care should be taken to wip e the soleplate and w heels with • a dry cloth af ter vacuuming to clean o ff any sand, dirt, or peb bles which could damage delica te floors. When vacuumin g, certain carpet s may generate small s tatic charges in the cl ear • bin. These are en tirely harmless and n ot associated with t he main supply. To minimise any ef fect from this, do not pu t your hand or insert a ny object into the clear bin unles s you have emptied it and r insed it out with cold w ater. Only use par ts recommended by D yson; failure to do so could i nvalidate your • guarantee.
EMPT YING THE CLEA R BIN
CAUTION:
Switch OFF and u nplug the vacuum clean er before emptyi ng the clear bin.• Empty as soo n as the dirt reaches t he level of the MA X mark – do not overfill. • To remove the clear bin f rom the vacuum cleane r press the button a t the rear of the carry ing handle. To release the di rt, press the butt on on the front of the clear bin.
PLEASE N OTE:
Do not use the vacu um cleaner without t he clear bin in place.• To minimise dust/allerg en contact when emp tying, encase the c lear bin tightly • in a plastic bag a nd empty. Remove the cle ar bin carefully and se al bag tightly, dispose as nor mal.
CLEANIN G THE CLEAR BI N
CAUTION:
Do not immerse t he whole cyclone in wa ter or pour water into th e cyclones.• Ensure the clea r bin is completely dr y before replacing.• Clean the shrou d with a cloth or dry bru sh to remove lint and dust.•

Do not use deter gents, polishes or ai r fresheners to clea n the clear bin.• Do not put the cle ar bin in a dishwasher.•
WASHING YOUR FILTER
CAUTION:
Switch OFF and u nplug the vacuum clean er before removing th e filter.• Ensure the filt er is completely dr y before refitti ng it to the vacuum cleane r.•

It is importa nt to check your filter a nd wash at least ever y 3 months, according • to instruct ions, to maintain per formance. Clearing bloc kages is not covered by you r vacuum cleaner’s limit ed guarantee. • If any part of you r vacuum cleaner bec omes blocked, it may ove rheat and then automatical ly shut off. Unplug the v acuum cleaner and lea ve to cool down. Clear blockag e before restart ing. Large items ma y block the tools or wand in let, if this happens sw itch the vacuum • cleaner off a nd unplug the vacuum cle aner before removin g the blockage. Do not operate t he wand release catc h.
CLEARI NG BRUSH BAR OBS TRUCTIONS
CAUTION:
Switch ‘OFF’ a nd unplug the vacuum cle aner before clearin g brush bar • obstructions. If your brush ba r is obstructed, it m ay shut off. If this happ ens you will need to • remove the brus h bar as shown and clear an y obstructing deb ris.

Any parts re placed will become t he property of D yson Appliances ( Aust) • Pty Ltd. The repair or rep lacement of your vacu um cleaner under guar antee will not • extend the p eriod of guarantee. The guarante e provides benefit s which are additional t o and do not affect yo ur • statutor y rights as a consumer. You must provide pro of of purchase before an y work can be carried ou t on your • vacuum cleane r. Without this proof, any work c arried out will be char geable. Please keep yo ur receipt.
WHAT IS COVERED
The repair or rep lacement of your vacu um cleaner if your vacuu m cleaner is • found to be defe ctive due to fault y materials, workma nship or function wi thin 2 years of purcha se (if any part is no long er available or out of man ufacture, Dyson will rep lace it with a functi onal replacement pa rt).
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Dyson shall no t be liable for costs of r epair or replacemen t of a product incurred as a result of: Normal wear an d tear (e.g fuse, belt, brus h bar).• Industrial u se of the vacuum cleane r such as vacuuming gypr ock dust or builders • dust may void you r guarantee. Accidental d amage, faults cause d by negligent use or care, n eglect, careless • operation or h andling of the vacuum cle aner which is not in accor dance with the Dyson Oper ating Manual. Blockages – pl ease refer to the Dys on Operating Manu al for details on how to • unblock your vac uum cleaner. Use of the vacuum c leaner for anythin g other than normal do mestic purposes i n • the country o f purchase. Use of parts n ot assembled or ins talled in accordance w ith the instructi ons • of Dyson. Use of parts a nd accessories oth er than those produc ed or recommended • by Dyson. Externa l sources such as transi t damage or weather.• Repairs or alte rations carried ou t by parties other th an Dyson or its • authorised a gents. Should a blockage o ccur, first disconnec t the vacuum clea ner from the electr icity supply and ref er to the ‘blockage’ sec tion in the Dyson Op erating Manual. Never pick up hot ci nders or lighted cigar ette ends.• Do not attem pt to pick-up water with yo ur Dyson vacuum clean er. It has not • been design ed as a wet pick-up cleane r.
