DX Engineering DXE-EX6XL-10 Tech Tip

TECH TIP
Installing 75 Ω Coax F Connectors
on F6 or RG6 Single, Double or Quad Shield Coax
(RG 6 Coax shown this Tech Tip is DXE-RG6UQ-CTL Quad Shield coaxial cable)
2. Using the CNL-911 tool, round out the end of the RG 6 coax.
3. Place the coaxial cable end into the DXE-CPT-659 Cable Stripper (color of prep tool may be Blue or Black) up to the built-in stop and rotate the tool a few times around the cable until the cutting action is complete as shown. The Cable Stripper will make 2 cuts at 0.25” each. Remove the outer jacket parts that were cut. Note: If you want a longer center conductor, you will have to remove the coax stop on the
DXE-CPT-659. Just be aware that some equipment using this cable, may not mate properly with a longer center conductor, or it may short something out inside the equipment if the center conductor is too long.
4. Fold the braided shield back onto the outer jacket.
5. Using a sharp knife, cut the first foil in 2 places (opposite sides).
6. Fold the first foil back over the braided shield. Fold the seconded braided shield over the foil.
7. Cut the second foil in two places using the same technique as in step 5 and fold the foil back over the previously folded braided shield.
8. Remove the cut piece of the center insulator.
9. Insert the prepared RG 6 - 75Ω Coaxial Cable fully into the DXE-EX6XL (-10 or -25) Compression FConnector as shown. Ensure the center insulator is flush to the opening inside the connector and the center conductor is sticking out the end is as shown.
10. Place the compression connector with coaxial cable into the DXE-SNS-CTI Compression tool as shown.
11. Fully squeeze the DXE-SNS-CTI Compression Tool handles together to completely compress the connector as shown.
12. Remove completed coaxial cable assembly from DXE-SNS-CTI Compression Tool.
