PowerEdge R910 II
PowerEdge R810 II
PowerEdge M910 II
The following new Dell PowerEdge systems support the Intel Xeon processor
E7-2800/4800/8800 product family:
•PowerEdge R810 II
•PowerEdge R910 II
•PowerEdge M910 II
These systems are marked with the Roman numeral "II" on the system
identification panel (PowerEdge R910 II and R810 II) or on the blade handle
(PowerEdge M910 II). See Figure 1.
NOTE: PowerEdge R810, R910, and M910 systems without the Roman numeral “II”
support Intel Xeon processor E7-2800/4800/8800 product family with a limited
feature set.

* PowerEdge R810 systems support 4 x 130 W Intel Xeon processor E7-4800/8800
product family only if the system has two power supply units. PowerEdge R810
systems do not support 4 x130 W Intel Xeon processor 7500 series.
•Mixing of Intel Xeon processor 7500 series and E7-2800/4800/8800
product family is not supported.
•Operating systems with a maximum of 64 cores do not support the
maximum amount of logical cores achievable with four 10-core processors
and logical processors enabled (80 cores). Check with your operating
system vendor for more information.
NOTE: To work around this issue, disable Logical Processors in the Processor
Settings screen of system setup program, or reduce the Number of Cores per
Processor in the Processor Settings screen of system setup program.
Information Update5
•If your system does not have the Roman numeral "II" label, it requires
CPLD, BIOS, and iDRAC firmware upgrade to support Intel Xeon
processor E7-2800/4800/8800 product family. You can download the
CPLD, BIOS, and iDRAC firmware at
NOTE: Update the BIOS with 7500 series installed before replacing with Intel Xeon
processor E7-2800/4800/8800 product family.

Low Voltage Memory Modules (DDR3L DIMMs)
DDR3L RDIMMs enable a lower operating voltage (1.35 V) and save up to 20
percent of memory power per RDIMM. The following are required to support
DDR3L RDIMMs at 1.35 V:
•Intel Xeon processor E7-2800/4800/8800 product family
•Memory riser (PowerEdge R910 II) marked with the Roman Numeral "II"
or system board (PowerEdge R810/M910 II) with Intel 7510 scalable
memory buffer.
Supported DDR3L are 2 GB x8, 4 GB x8, 8 GB x8, and 16 GB x4 DRAM
RDIMMs.
NOTE: RDIMMs rated at 1333 MT/s operate at maximum of 1066 MT/s.
•PowerEdge R810 supports four 130 W Intel Xeon processor E7-4800/8800
product family only with DDR3L at 1.35 V.
•PowerEdge R910 memory riser board marked with the Roman numeral "II"
supports DDR3L RDIMMs.
•PowerEdge R910 does not support mixing memory risers with and without
the Roman numeral "II".
•32 GB x4, 4 Gb DRAM, DDR3L RDIMMs are supported on PowerEdge
R910 with Intel Xeon processor E7-2800/4800/8800 product family and
memory riser board marked with the Roman numeral "II".
6Information Update
Systems with 1.35 V DDR3L memory modules operate at 1.5 V if any of the
following conditions exist:
•Intel Xeon processor 7500 series.
•A combination of standard and low voltage memory modules on system
board or memory risers.
•Memory riser (PowerEdge R910) not marked with the Roman Numeral "II"
or system board (PowerEdge R810/M910) with Intel 7500 scalable memory
buffer.
DDR3L memory is backward compatible with Intel Xeon processor 7500
series and operates at standard voltage (1.5 V).

Sets the system memory voltage selection. When set to
Auto, the system automatically sets the system voltage to
the optimal setting based upon the DIMM capability and
the installed DIMM population. This also enables setting
the system memory voltage to a higher value (1.5 V) if the
DIMMs support multiple voltages and have been auto set
to a lower voltage of 1.35 V.
Sets the type of memory operation if a valid memory
configuration is installed. When set to Mirror mode,
memory mirroring is enabled, while the Spare mode allows
memory sparing. The DDDC mode option enables double
device data correction.
NOTE: A valid DDDC configuration requires all installed
DIMMs with x4 DRAMs.

Enabling Dell BIOS Intelligent Turbo Mode
The Dell BIOS Intelligent Turbo Mode feature allows the operating system to
set the processor performance to turbo mode. Based on the processor
utilization, this feature delays the processor turbo mode initiation for better
power management. When the turbo mode is enabled in the Processor Settings screen of the system setup, this feature can be enabled or disabled
using the following BIOS setup options.
