Product Information
SSD1815 Evaluation Kit
The SSD1815EVK is a evaluation kit (EVK) of the SSD1815Z works with a LCD panel. The size of the display is 96x64 dots and 1seperated icon row. Figure 1 shows the outlook of top view of the EVK.
The EVK is composed of essential external compo­nents of SSD1815Z.There is one contrast control variable resistor (VR1) and one selection jumper (J1) indicated in the figure, for controlling the display contrast of the LCD panel.
There is a header (U3) for connecting to external con­trol, eg. from MCU I/O ports. The pin assignment of this header is given in the EVK Header/Connector section of this document.
EVK Control
Software Control
The header on the EVK is used to control the COG bonded SSD1815Z to perform desired functions. Details of SSD1815Z, please refer to the Solomon Systech data sheet of SSD1815.
Contrast Control
Jumper J1 is used to select if internal resistor network for the voltage regulator is enabled for contrast control. Open J1 will enable the internal resistor network.
The VR1 is a variable resistor connected between VDD and VL6 with tapping connected to VF of the SSD1815. If internal re­sistor network is selected (J1 closed), this VR will parallel to those inside the driver. In order to evaluate the exact performance, this VR should be removed. Turn the VR1 clockwise to increase the contrast of the display, and vice versa.
EVK Header/Connector
The header is directly connect to the SSD1815Z I/O pins. Pin 1 is at the marking U3. Pin assignment of this header is given as follow:
Users can use the EVK to build prototype application that matches pin out stated above. Do not connect anything to NC pins.
