TheradiatedoutputpowerofthewirelessLANcardauthorizedtouseforyour
computerisfarbelowtheFCCradiofrequencyexposurelimits.Nevertheless,it
shallbeusedinsuchamannerthatthepotentialforhumancontactduringnormal
operationisminimizedasfollows:

CAUTION:
TocomplywithFCCRFexposurecompliancerequirements,aseparation
distanceofatleast20cm(8inches)mustbemaintainedbetweenthe
antennasconnectedtothewirelesscardsandallpersons.Ifthisdistance
cannotbemaintainedwhilethecomputerlidisclosed,youmustselectfirst
selectsleepasthepowermodepriortoclosingthedisplaylid.

EachdevicehasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforaClassB
digitaldevicepursuanttoFCCPart15SubpartB.Referto“Electronicemission
notices”onpage7.

WhenyouuseawirelessLANcardinthe802.11a/ntransmissionmode,note
thathighpowerradarsareallocatedasprimaryusersofthe5250to5350MHz
and5650to5850MHzbands.Theseradarstationscancauseinterferencewith
and/ordamagethisdevice.

III.ThinkPadActiveCapacitivePen

TheThinkPadActiveCapacitivePen(Model:SD60G97185)isdesignedforuse
withyourThinkPadcomputerandoperatesatafrequencyof1.8KHz.Thepen
transmitswithamaximumoutputpowerof1,000microwatts.Thisdevicehas
beentestedandcomplieswiththelimitsforaClassBdigitaldeviceasspecified
inFCCPart15SubpartBandhasbeenverifiedtocomplywiththelimitsspecified
inFCCPart15SubpartCforintentionalradiators.

IV.SimultaneoususeofRFtransmitters

Yourcomputerisapprovedforsimultaneoususeofoneoftheapprovedwireless
LANmodulesandtheapprovedBluetoothdevice.Foralistofthosetransmitters,
referto“I.Approvedwirelessdevices”onpage1.

MakesureofthefollowingconditionswhenyouuseanyotherexternalRFoption
device:

1.WhenyouuseanyotherRFoptiondevice,youarerequestedtoconfirm
thatthedeviceconformstotheRFSafetyrequirementandisapprovedto
useforyourcomputer.

2.Y oumustfollowtheRFSafetyinstructionsoftheRFoptiondevicethatare
includedintheusermanualoftheRFoptiondevice.

3.IftheRFoptiondeviceisprohibitedtouseinconjunctionwithanother

ThecomputersemploylowgainintegralantennasthatdonotemitRFfieldin
excessofHealthCanadalimitsforthegeneralpopulation;consultSafetyCode6,

Theradiatedenergyfromtheantennasconnectedtothewirelessmodules
conformstotheCanadaPortableRFexposurelimitregardingICRSS-102Issue4
clause4.2setforthforanuncontrolledenvironment,andaresafeforintended
operationintheconventionalsetting.ThefurtherRFexposurereductioncanbe
achievediftheproductcanbekeptasfaraspossiblefromtheuserbodyorset

Wirelessfeature(suchaswirelessLAN,andBluetoothandsoon)emitsradio
frequencyelectromagneticenergylikeotherradiodevices.However,thelevel
ofenergyemittedisfarmuchlessthantheelectromagneticenergyemittedby
wirelessdeviceslikeforexamplemobilephones.

Duetothefactthatwirelessfeatureoperateswithintheguidelinesfoundinradio
frequencysafetystandardsandrecommendations,Lenovobelievesthewireless
featureissafeforusebyconsumers.Thesestandardsandrecommendations
reflecttheconsensusofthescientificcommunityandresultfromdeliberations
ofpanelsandcommitteesofscientistswhocontinuallyreviewandinterpretthe
extensiveresearchliterature.

Insomesituationorenvironment,theuseofwirelessfeaturemightberestricted
bytheproprietorofthebuildingorresponsiblerepresentativesoftheorganization.
