User Instructions
Your 103E5 timeswitch will control your hot water and central heating system
automatically, turning the system on and off at the times you have programmed.
Before beginning programming, you should reset the unit. Open the flap on the front
of the clock. Press the following four buttons at the same time (SELECT, ADVANCE, +
and -). This will clear all previous pre-set programmes. (Fig 1)
A. Setting the correct time
• PressthePROGRAMME button once. (Fig 2)
• Usethe+ and - buttons to set the correct time. (Fig 3)
• Whenthe timeiscorrectpress the PROGRAMME button again until the colon
begins to flash in the display. Your unit is now in RUN mode.
B. Accepting the Factory Settings
Your 103E5 comes ready programmed with a set of times and temperatures to suit
the average household. If you are happy to use these settings you don’t need to do
anything else.
If you wish to alter these settings follow instructions below.
Your installer will have set your unit to operate in one of the following modes:
24 hour - one set of programmes for the whole week (Section C)
5/2 day - a set of programmes for weekdays and another for weekends (Section D)
Please follow relevant instructions below.
C. Programming the Hot Water and Central Heating - 24 hour mode
1. You can programme your central heating and hot water to come ON and go OFF
up to 3 times each day to suit your requirements.
2. Press the PROGRAMME until 1 (Event 1) shows on the top of the display. (Fig. 4)
3. Usethe+ and - buttons to set the time you want your system to first come ON in
the morning.E. Programming the Heating - 24 hour mode
4. Press the PROGRAMME button again to move to the next event (Event 2) and use
the + and - buttons to set the time you want your system to first go OFF.
5. Continue to use the PROGRAMME button and the + and - buttons in this way to
set the next 2 ON and OFF times.
N.B. If you do not press a button at all for 3 minutes the unit will automatically return to
RUN mode.

1. You can programme your central heating and hot water to come ON and go OFF

Weekdays
2. To programme the ON and OFF times for the weekdays (MOTUWETHFR) press
the PROGRAMME button until 1 (Event 1) shows on the top of the display and
MOTUWETHFR shows along the bottom. (Fig. 5)
3. Usethe+ and - buttons to set the time you want your system to first come on in

4. Press the PROGRAMME button again to move to the next event (Event 2) and use
the + and - buttons to set the time you want your system to first go off.
5. Continue to use the PROGRAMME button and the + and - buttons in this way to
set the next 2 ON and OFF times.
Weekends
6. To programme the ON and OFF times for the weekends (SASU) press the
PROGRAMME button until 1 (Event 1) shows on the top of the display and SASU
shows along the bottom. (Fig. 6)
7. Usethe+ and - buttons to set the time you want your system to first come on in

8. Press the PROGRAMME button again to move to the next event (Event 2) and use
the + and - buttons to set the time you want your system to first go off.
9. Continue to use the PROGRAMME button and the + and - buttons in this way to
set the next 2 ON and OFF times.

E. Running your Programme
Your 103E5 controls your hot water and central heating together, turning them on
and off at the same time.
To run the central heating and hot water programme press the SELECT button.
As you press the SELECT button the display will change between ON, OFF, ALLDAY
and AUTO. Select the option you require depending on your circumstances, time of
the year etc (Fig. 7).
• AUTO = the heating and hot water come on and go off at the programmed
times
• ON = the heating and hot water will remain on constantly
• OFF = the heating and hot water will not come on
• ALLDAY = the clock will turn the heating and hot water on at the first programmed
ON and will leave it on until your last programmed OFF.

F. Temporary User Overrides
Sometimes you may need to change the way you use your timeswitch temporarily, i.e
due to unusually cold weather.
The 103E5 has two convenient overrides which can be selected without affecting the
set programme. (Fig. 8)
+1HOUR
o Press the +1HOUR button once if you need an extra hour of operation.
If the system is off it will come on for an hour. If it is already on it will add an extra hour
so the system stays on for an extra hour.
To cancel the override press +1HOUR again.
ADVANCE (only during AUTO mode)
o Press the ADVANCE button once to advance to the next programmed event.
If the system is on it will go off. If it is off it will come on. The set programme will
resume at the next programmed ON/OFF time.
To cancel the override press ADVANCE again.
