This document is provided as an aid to the installation of RoomView® 7.0 Enterprise,
Remote Asset Management Software.
Prerequisites
All the software, or software components, in the following list must be installed and
available to the system where RoomView services are to be installed. RoomView, or
parts of RoomView, must have access to these applications either directly or over the
network. Be sure that all of the latest updates for these applications are also installed.
These applications must be present on each server where RoomView 7.0 components
are installed:
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003
• Microsoft Internet Information Server 6.0 (IIS) (on machine(s) with web or
security components installed)
• Microsoft .NET Runtime Environment 2.x
These applications can be installed anywhere on the local network so long as
RoomView can access them:
• Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005
• Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with Outlook Web Access (OWA).
• SMTP Mail Server.
NOTE: Verify that all of these applications are accessible from the server where
RoomView will be installed.
One of these web browsers must be installed on workstations where the web client
will be used:
Create an Active Directory account called RoomView7 and give it the following
rights:
Local Administrator’s Rights on any server where RoomView 7 components
will be installed.
SQL Login with container creation rights and Database Owner Rights.
Owner rights in Exchange to all room mail boxes to be scheduled with
RoomView 7.x.
SMTP Send Rights.
Pre-Installation
If any RoomView 7.x components have been previously installed on your server, or
if you are upgrading to a future version of RoomView beyond version 7.x, the
previously installed version (7.x) must be completely uninstalled prior to installing
the new version.
CAUTION: If the previous version of RoomView 7.x is not completely uninstalled,
your installation of the new version will fail. Refer to the section entitled, Rollback Plan on page 62.
Server Side Installation Procedure
RoomView 7.x installation consists of a series of wizards, one for each component to
be installed.
1. Download the RoomView 7.x installer from the Crestron website to your
desktop or place the RoomView 7.0 installation CD in the CD drive. Doubleclick the installer file on your desktop or if autorun does not initiate for the
installation CD, use Start\Run and browse to the CD drive. Find the file named
roomview_server_7_0_0XXX.exe (e.g., roomview_server_7_0_0118.exe) and
click Open.
The Crestron RoomView “Setup Welcome” window for the RoomView 7.x
installation will appear.
2. Click Next to display the “License Agreement” window where you will be
prompted to accept (or not) the license agreement governing the RoomView
application. Accept the agreement (if you want to continue) by clicking the
appropriate radio button. You can also use the Print button to retain a copy for
your records. Click Next to continue.

Follow on on-screen prompts.
NOTE: When the Toolbox installation is complete, the RoomView installation must
be restarted. Double-click the installer file as described in step 1 above and repeat

installation program will open wizards for each feature and service selected in
the order described in the following paragraphs.
NOTE: If some part of the installation fails, the Select Features window can be used
to restart the installation process without affecting the services already installed.
5. The “Setup Status” window will be displayed while it installs some of the
RoomView operating files. This window will be dismissed by the setup program
when the progress bar is complete.
