This warranty covers ONLY defects in material and workmanship,, Sears will NOT
pay for:

• Expendable items that become worn during normal use, including but not limited to
blades, spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oil filters..

• Standard maintenance servicing, oil changes, or tune-ups,_

• Tire replacement or repair caused by punctures from outside objects, such as nails,
thorns, stumps, or glass..

• Tire or wheel replacement or repair resulting from normal wear, accident, or improper
operation or maintenance°

• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse, including but not limited to damage
caused by towing objects beyond the capability of the riding equipment, impacting
objects that bend the frame or crankshaft, or over-speeding the engine.

• Repairs necessary because of operator negligence, including but notlimited to, electrical
and mechanical damage caused by improper storage, failure to use the proper grade
and amount of engine oil, failure to keep the deck clear of flammable debris, or failure to
maintain the riding equipment according to the instructions contained in the operator's
manual

• Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs caused byfuel determined to be contaminated or
oxidized (stale)_.In general, fuel should be used within 30 days of its purchase date..

• Normal detedoration and wear of the exterior finishes, or product label replacement.

All riding equipment and battery warranty coverage is void if this product is ever used for
commercial or rental purposes.

This warranty applies only while this product is within the United States..
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which

vary from state to state..

tal starting when setting up, transporting,

adjusting or making repairs, always discon-
nect spark plug wire and place wire where
it cannot contact spark plug..
_IbWARNING: Do not coast down a hill in
neutral, you may lose control of the tractor..
A(_WARNING: Tow only the attachments
that are recommended by and comply with
specifications of the manufacturer of your
tractor, Use common sense when towing.
Operate only at the lowest possible speed
when on a slope.. Too heavy of a load, while
on a slope, is dangerous.. Tires can lose
traction with the ground and cause you to
lose control of your tractor..

1.GENERAL OPERATION

• Read, understand, and follow all instruc_
tions on the machine and in the manual

before starting°

• Do not put hands or feet near rotating
parts or under the machine. Keep clear

of the discharge opening at all times..

• Only allow responsible adults, who are
familiar with the instructions, to operate
the machine..

• Clear the area of objects such as rocks,
toys, wire, etc.., which could be picked
up and thrown by the blades_

• Be sure the area is clear of bystanders
beforeoperating Stop machine if anyone
enters the area°

- Never carrypassengers,

• Do not mowin reverse unless absolutely

necessap_. Always lookdown and behind
before and while backing,.

• Never direct discharged materialtoward
anyone.. Avoid discharging material
against a wall or obstruction.. Material
may ricochet back toward the operator.
Stop the blades when crossing gravel
surfaces..

• Do not operate machinewithout the entire
grass catcher, discharge guard, or other
safety devices in place and working,

• Slow down before turning..

• Never Leave a running machine unat-

tended,. Always turn off blades, set

parking brake, stop engine, and remove
keys before dismounting

- Disengage btades when not mowing.
Shut off engine and wait for all parts to
come to a complete stop before cleaning

the machine, removing the grass catcher,

or unclogging the discharge guard,.

• Operate machine onryin daylight or good
artificial light..

- Do not operate the machine while under

the influence of alcohol or drugs,.

. Watch for traffic when operating near or

crossing roadways.

• Use extra carewhen loading or unloading

the machine into a trailer or truck..

- AIwayswear eye protection when operat-
ing machine°

• Data indicates that operators, age 60

years and above, are involved in a large

percentage of riding mower-related inju-
ries.. These operators should evaluate

their ability to operate the riding mower
safely enough to protect themselves and
others from serious injury..

. Follow the manufacturer's recommen-

dation for wheel weights or counter-
weights,

• Keep machine free of grass , leaves

or other debris build-up which can
touch hot exhaust / engine parts and
burn,. Do not allow the mower to plow
leaves or other debris which can cause
build-up to occur,. CLean any oil or fuel
spillage before operating or storing the

machine_ Allow machine to cool before
storage.

II. SLOPE OPERATION
Slopes are a major factor related to loss of

control and tip+over accidents, which can
result in severe injury or death.. Operation
on all slopes requires extra caution.. If you
cannot back upthe slope or ffyou feel uneasy
on it, do not mow it..

• Mow up and down slopes, not across

• Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or
other hidden objects.. Uneven terrain
could overturn the machine. Tall grass
can hide obstacles+.

• Choose a low ground speed so that you
will not have to stop or shift while on the
slope..

• Do not mow on wet grass++Tires may lose
traction.

Always keep the machine in gear when
going down slopes. Do not shift to neutral

and coast downhill+

- Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on a
siope_ Ifthe tireslosetraction, disengage
the blades and proceed slowly straight
down the slope..

. Keep all movement on the slopes slow

and gradual Do not make sudden
changes in speed or direction, which

could cause the machine to roll over+

• Use extra care while operating machine
with grass catchers or other attachments;
they can affect the stability of the ma-
chine. Do no use on steep slopes+

. Do not try to stabilize the machine by

putting your foot on the ground,

• Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches, or
embankments+ The machine could sud-

denly roll over ff a wheel isover the edge
or if the edge caves in.

II1. CHILDREN

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator

is not alert to the presence of children.
Children are often attracted to the machine

and the mowing activity., Never assume

that children will remain where you last

saw them+

• Keep children out of the mowing area
and inthe watchful care of a responsible
adult other than the operator..

• Be alert and turn machine off if a child

enters the area,

• Before and while backing, look behind

and down for small chiidren_

o Never carry children, even with the

blades shut off. They may fall off and
be seriously injured or interfere with
safe machine operation.. Children who
have been given rides in the past may
suddenly appear in the mowing area for

another ride and be run over or backed
over by the machine.,

. Never allow children to operate the ma-

chine,.

. Use extra care when approaching blind

comers, shrubs, trees, or other objects
that may block your view of a child

IV+TOWING

• Tow only with a machine that has a hitch
designed for towing,. Do notattach towed
equipment except at the hitch point+

o Followthe manufacturer's recommenda-

tion for weight limits for towed equipment
and towing on slopes.

- Never allow children or others in or on
towed equipment..

• On slopes,theweight ofthetowed equip-
ment may cause loss of traction and loss
of control

• Travel slowly and allow extra distance to
stop..

V. SERVICE

SAFE HANDLING OF GASOUNE

To avoid personal injury or property dam-

age, use extreme care in handling gasoline,.
Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive..

- Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes,
and other sources of ignition.+

• Use only approved gasoline container,.

• Never remove gas cap or add fuel with
the engine running,. Allow engine to cool
before refueling,_

- Never fuel the machine indoors.

• Never storethe machine or fuel container

where there is an open flame, spark, or
pilot light such as on a water heater or
other appliances..

• Never fill containers inside a vehicle or
on a truck or trailer bed with plastic liner.
Always place containers on the ground
away from your vehicle when filling.

. Remove gas-powered equipment from

the truck or trailer and refuel it on the
ground. Ifthis is not possible, then refuel

such equipment with a portable container,
rather than from a gasoline dispenser

nozzle.

• Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim
of the fuel tank or container opening at
all times until fueling is complete. Do not
use a nozzle lock-open device_

- lffuel isspilled on clothing, change cloth-
ing immediately.

. Never overfill fuel tank Replace gas cap

and tighten securely

GENERAL SERVICE

- Never operate machinein a closed area..

• Keep all nuts and bolts tightto be sure the
equipment is in safe working condition.

- Nevertamperwith safety devices.. Check
their proper operation regularly.

. Keep machine free of grass, leaves, or

other debris build-up Clean oil or fuel
spillage and remove any fuel-soaked de-
bris. AJtowmachine to cool before storing.

• If you strike a foreign object, stop and
inspect the machine. Repair, ff necessary,
before restarting..

- Never make any adjustments or repairs

with the engine running.

• Check grass catcher components and the
discharge guard frequently and replace

with manufacturer's recommended parts,
when necessary.

• Mowerbladesaresharp. Wraptheblade
or wear gloves, and use extra caution

when servicing them,.

. Check brakeoperation frequently Adjust

and service as required.

• Maintain or replace safetyand instruction
labels, as necessary.

- Be sure the area is clear of bystanders
before operating. Stop machine ifanyone
enters the area.

o Never carry passengers..

- Do not mowin reverse unless absolutely

. If machine stops while going uphill, dis-

engage blades, shift into reverse and
back down slowly,

- Do not turn on slopes unless necessary,

andthen, turn slowly and gradually down-
hill, if possible

Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with exceptio_ of those parts left

unassembled for shipping purposes, To ensure safe and proper operation of your tractor
all parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Use the correct tools

as necessary to ensure proper tightness

A socket wrench set wilt make assembly

easier.. Standard wrench sizes are listed.

(2) 7/16" wrenches Tire pressure gauge

o Remove ati accessible loose parts and

parts cartons from carton ..

• Cut along dotted lines on all four pan-
els of carton.. Remove end panels and
lay side panels flat,

. Check for any additional loose parts or

cartons and remove..

ASSEMBLE EXTENSION SHAFT AND
BOOT

1._ Slide extension shaft onto lower steering
shaft..

2. Place tabs of steering boot over tab slots
in dash and push down to securer

INSTALL STEERING WHEEL

3. Position front wheels of the tractor so

they are pointing straight forward,.

4. Remove steering wheel adapter from
steering wheel and slide adapter onto
steering shaft extension.

5. Position steering wheel so cross bars are
horizontal (left to right) and slide inside
boot and onto adapter_.

6. Assemblelargeflatwasher, lock washer,
hex bolt and tighten securely

7.. Snap steering wheel insert into center of
steering wheel

8. Remove protective materials from tractor
hood and grill,

IMPORTANT:. Check for and remove any
staples inskid that may puncture tires where

tractor is to roll off skid,

TO CHECK BATTERY

1.. Lift seat to raised position..

NOTE: Ifthis battery is put into service after
month and year indicated on label (label is
located between terminals) charge battery
for minimum of one hour at 6-10 amps. (See
"BATTERY" in Maintenance section of this

manual for charging instructions)..

• For battery and battery cable installation

see "REPLACING BATTERY" in the
"Service and Adjustments" section in

this manual.

INSTALL SEAT

1, Remove bolt and fiat washer securing

seat to cardboard packing and set aside
for assembly of seat to tractor, Remove
the cardboard packing and discard,

2. Connect switch to seat_
3, Place seat on seat pan so all three (3)

bottom pads are positioned over large
slotted hoses in pan,

4,, Push down on seat to engage pads in

slots and pull seat towards rear of tractor,

5_ Raise seat and tighten bolt securely,

6., Remove tape and discard,,

7., Lower seat into operating position and
sit on seat, Press clutch/brake pedal all
the way down, If operating position is not
comfortable, adjust seat,,

NOTE: You may now roll your tractor off
the skid,, Follow the appropriate instruction
below to remove the tractor from the skid,

_WARNING: Before starting, read,
understand and follow all instructions in the

Operation section of this manual., Be sure
tractor is in a well-ventilated area. Be sure
the area in front of tractor is clear of other

people and objects,
TO ROLL TRACTOR OFF SKID (See

Operation section for location and
function of controls)

1., Raise attachment Iift lever to its highest
position,,

2,, Release parking brake by depressing

clutch/brake pedal,.

3. Place freewheel control in "transmis-
sion disengaged position" (See "TO
TRANSPORT" in Operation section of
this manual),

4. Roll tractor forward off skid,

5., Remove banding holding the deflector
shield up against tractor

TO ADJUST SEAT

Grasp adjustment handle and pull up, slide

seat to desired position and release adjust-

ment handle.

CHECKTIRE PRESSURE

The tires on your tractorwere overinflated at
the factory for shipping purposes., Correct
tire pressure is important for best cutting
performance,.
o Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown on

tires.

CHECK DECK LEVELNESS

For best cutting results, mower housing
should be properly leveled.. See "TO LEVEL
MOWER" in the Service and Adjustments
section of this manual.

CHECK FOR PROPER POSITION OF
ALL BELTS
See the figures that are shown for replacing

motion and mower blade drive belts in the
Service and Adjustments section ofthis man-
ual..Verify that the belts are routed correctly..

CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM
After you learn how to operate your tractor,
check to see that the brake is operating

properly. See "TO CHECK BRAKE" in the
Service and Adjustments section of this

manual..

J All tires are properly inflated.. (For ship-

ping purposes, the tires were overinflated

at the factory).
v" Be sure mower deck is properly leveled

side-to-side/front-to-rear for best cutting
results.. (Tires must be properly inflated

for leveling)..

,/Check mower and drive belts. Be sure

they are routed properly around pulleys

and inside all belt keepers..

v"Check wiring.. See that all connections are

stillsecure and wires are propedy clamped..

v" Before driving tractor, be sure freewheel

control is in "transmission engaged"
position (see 'q_OTRANSPORT' in the

Operation section of this manual).
While learning howto use your tractor, pay ex-
tra attention to the following important items:

v" Engine oil is at proper level.
J Fuel tank isfilled with fresh, clean, regular

unleaded gasoline.

_f Become familiar with all controls, their

location andfunction.. Operate them before

you start the engine.

,! Be sure brake system is in safe operating

condition_.

_' Be sure Operator Presence System and

Reverse Operation System (ROS) are

working properly (See the Operation and

Maintenance sections in this manual)..

v' It is important to purge the transmission

before operating your tractor for the first

time. Follow proper starting and transmis-

sion purging instructions (See "TO START

ENGINE"and"PURGETRANSMISSION"

in the Operation section of this manual).

(A) ATTACHMENT LIFT LEVER - Used to
raise and lower the mower or other attach-
ments mounted to your tractor,

(B) CLUTCH/BRAKE PEDAL- Used for
declutching and braking the tractor and
starting the engine.,

(C) PARKING BRAKE- Locks clutch/brake
pedal into the brake position_

(D)THROTTLEiCHOKE CONTROL- Used
for starting and controlling engine speed,,

(E) ATTACHMENT CLUTCH LEVER- Used
to engage the mower blades, or other attach-

ments mounted to your tractor.

(F) IGNITION SWITCH - Used for starting
and stopping the engine,.
(G) REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM
(ROS) "ON" POSITION - Allows operation
of mower orother powered attachment while
in reverse,

(H) LIGHT SWITCH - Turns the headlights
on and off.

(J) MOTION CONTROL LEVER - Selects
the speed and direction of tractor,
(M) FREEWHEEL CONTROL- Disengages
transmission for pushing or slowly towing the
tractor with the engine off

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into
the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety

HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR

TO SET PARKING BRAKE
Your tractor is equipped with an operator

presence sensing switch. When engine is
running, any attempt bythe operator to leave
the seatwithout first setting the parking brake
will shut off the engine.

1.. Depress clutch/brake pedal (B) all the
way down and hold.

2.. Pull parking brake lever (C) up and hold,

release pressure from clutch/brake pedal

(B),then release parking brake lever,.Ped-
al should remain in brake position. Make
sure parking brake will hold tractor secure..

o Turn ignition key (F) to "STOP" position

and remove key..Always remove key when

leaving tractor to prevent unauthorized use..
IMPORTANT: Leaving the ignition switch in
any position other than "STOP" will cause
the battery to discharge and go dead
NOTE: Under certain conditions when tractor

is standing idle with the engine running, hot
engine exhaust gases may cause "brown-
ing" of grass.. To eliminate this possibility,
always stop engine when stopping tractor
on grass areas,

,_CAUTION: Always stop tractor com-
pletely, as described above, and set parking

brake before leaving the operator's position,.

TO USE THROTTLE CONTROL (D)

Always operate engine at full speed (fast),.

• Operating engine at less than full speed

(fast) reduces engine's operating efficiency.

• Full speed (fast) offers the best mower

performance.

STOPPING
MOWER BLADES -

• Tostop mower blades, move attachment
clutch clutch lever to disengaged position

GROUND DRIVE -

- Tostop ground drive, depress clutch/brake
pedal (B) all the way down_

. Move motion control lever (J) to neutral

position..

ENGINE -

• Move throttle control (D) between half and

full speed (fast) position.
NOTE: Failure to move throttle control be-
tween half and fullspeed (fast) position, be-
fore stopping, may cause engine to "backfire",

TO MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARD
The direction and speed of movement is

controlled by the motion control lever,, (J)

1, Start tractor with motion control lever in

neutral position,,

TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT
The position of the attachment lift lever (A)

determines the cutting height,.

• Put attachment lift lever in desired cutting
height slot,.

The cutting height range is approximately
1"to 4".. The heights are measured from the
ground to the bladetip with the engine notrun-
ning.,These heights are approximate and may
vary depending upon soil conditions, height
of grass and types of grass being mowed..

- The average lawn should be cut to ap-
proximately 2-1/2" during the cool sea-
son and to over 3" during hot months.,
For healthier and better looking lawns,
mow often and after moderate growth..

• For best cutting performance, grass over
6inches in height should be mowed twice.
Make the first cut relatively high; the sec-
ond to desired heighL

TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS
Gauge wheels are properly adjusted when

they are slightly off the ground when mower
is at the desired cutting height in operating
position° Gauge wheels then keep the deck
in proper position to help prevent scalping

in most terrain conditions,.
NOTE: Adjust gauge wheels with tractor on

a flat level surface.,

1. Adjust mower to desired cutting height

(See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING
HEIGHT" in this section of manual),.

2,, With mower indesired height of cut posi-

tion, gauge wheels should be assembled
so they are slightly off the ground. Install
gauge wheel in appropriate hole..Tighten
securely,

3, Repeat for alt, installing gauge wheel in

same adjustment hole,.

TO OPERATE MOWER

Your tractor is equipped with an operator
presence sensing switch. Any attempt
by the operator to leave the seat with the
engine running and the attachment clutch
engaged will shut off the engine, You must
remain fully and centrally positioned in the
seat to prevent the engine from hesitating or
cutting off when operating your equipment
on rough, rolling terrain or hilts.

1., Select desired height of cut with attach-
ment lift lever..

2_ Start mower blades by engaging attach-

ment clutch control.

TO STOP MOWER BLADES
Disengage attachment clutch control,

_lbCAUTION: Do not operate the mower
without either the entire grass catcher, on

mowers so equipped, or the deflector shield

(S) in place_

TO OPERATE ON HILLS
A0t_WARNING: Do not drive up or down
hills with slopes greater than 15 ° and do not

drive across any slope.. Use the slope guide
provided at the back of this manual,,

- Choosethe slowest speed before starting
up or down hills,

• Avoid stopping or changing speed on
hills,,

• If stopping is absolutely necessary, push
clutch/brake pedal quickly to brake position
and engage parking brake,,

• Move motion control lever to neutral posi-
tion.

IMPORTANT: The motion control lever does
not return to neutral position when the clutch/
brake pedal is depressed,

- Torestart movement, slowly release park-
ing brake and clutch/brake pedal.

- Slowly move motion control leverto slow-
est setting,.

• Make all turns slowly.

REV'ERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)

Your tractor is equipped with a Reverse

Operation System (ROS)., Any attempt by

the operator to travel in the reverse direction

with the attachment clutch engaged will shut
off the engine unless ignition key is placed
in the ROS "ON" position.

_WARNING: Backing up with the at-

tachment clutch engaged while mowing is

stronglydiscouraged..Turningthe ROS"ON",

to allow reverse operation with the attach-

ment clutch engaged, should only be done
when the operator decides it isnecessary to
reposition the machine with the attachment
engaged,. Do not mow in reverse unless
absolutely necessary,.

USING THE REVERSE OPERATION
SYSTEM -

Only use ifyou are certain no children or other
bystanders will enter the mowing area..

1. Move motion control lever to neutral
position..

2. With engine running, turn ignition key
counterclockwise to ROS "ON" posi-
tion.

3. Look down and behind before and while
backing..

4. Slowly move motion control lever to
reverse (R) position to start movement°

5. When useofthe ROS isno longer needed,
turn the ignition key clockwise to engine
"ON" position.

TO TRANSPORT
When pushing or towing your tractor, be

sure to disengage transmission by placing
freewheel control in freewheeling position.

Freewheel control is located at the rear

drawbar of tractor.

2. Pull freewheel control out and intothe slot
and release so itisheld inthe disengaged
position

- Do not push or tow tractor at more than

two (2) MPH.,

• Tore-engage transmission, reverse above
procedure..

NOTE: To protect hood from damage when

transporting your tractor on atruck or atrailer,
be sure hood isclosed and secured totractor.

Use an appropriate means of tying hood to

tractor (rope, cord, etc..).
TOWING CARTS AND OTHER ATTACH-

MENTS

Tow only the attachments that are recom-
mended by and comply with specifications

of the manufacturer of your tractor. Use
common sense when towing. Too heavy of

a load, while on a slope, is dangerous. Tires
can lose traction with the ground and cause

you to lose control of your tractor,.

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

The engine inyour tractor has been shipped,
from the factor,], already filled with summer
weight oil,.

1., Check engine oil with tractor on level
ground,.

2. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick and wipe
clean, reinsertthe dipstick and screw cap

tight, wait for a few seconds, remove and

read oil level If necessary, add oil until
"FULE' mark on dipstick is reached.. Do
not overfill.

• For cold weather operation you should
change oil for easier starting (See the oil
viscosity chart in the Maintenance section
of this manual)..

• Tochange engineoil, seethe Maintenance
section in this manual.

ADD GASOLINE

• Fillfuel tank to bottom offiller neck. Do not
overfill.. Usefresh, clean, regular unleaded

gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane..

(Use of leaded gasoline will increase
carbon and lead oxide deposits and reduce
valve life). Do not mix oil with gasoline.

Purchase fuel inquantities that can beused
within 30 days to ensure fuel freshness..

_CAUTION: Wipe off any spilled oil orfuel..

Do not store, spill or use gasoline near an
open flame.

IMPORTANT: When operating in tempera_
tures below 32°F(0°C), use fresh, clean
winter grade gasoline to help insure good

cold weather starting.

CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (called

gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can

attract moisture which leads to separation

andformation of acids during storage,. Acidic

gas candamage thefuet system of an engine
while in storage° To avoid engine problems,
the fuel system should be emptied before

storage of 30 days or longer° Drain the gas
tank, start the engine and let it run until the
fuellines and carburetor are empty.. Usefresh
fuel next season,,See Storage Instructions for

additional information,. Never use engine or

carburetor cleaner products in the fuel tank

or permanent damage may occur,.
TO START ENGINE
When starting the engine for the first time or

if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take

extra cranking time to move fuel from the
tank to the engine.

1o Be sure freewheel control is in the trans-

mission engaged position..

2. Sit on seat inoperating position, depress
clutch/brake pedal and set parking brake.

3,. Place motion control lever in neutral

position..

4,. Move attachment clutch to disengaged

position..
5,. Move throttle control to choke position..
NOTE: Before starting, read the warm and
cold starting procedures below,.

6. Insert key into ignition and turn key

clockwise to start position and release

key as soon as engine starts, Do not run

starter continuously for more than fifteen

seconds per minute. If the engine does

not start after several attempts, move

throttle control to fast position, wait a

few minutes and try again. If engine still

does not start, move the throttle control

back to the choke position and retry.
WARM WEATHER STARTING (50° F and

above)
Z. When engine starts, move the throttle

control to the fast position..

• The attachments and ground drive can

now be used. Ifthe engine does not accept
the load, restart the engine and allow it to
warm up for one minute using the choke
as described above..

COLD WEATHER STARTING (50° F and
below)

7 When engine starts, leavethrottlecontrol

in choke position until engine warms up

and begins to run roughly. Once rough

running begins, immediately move the
throttle control to the fast position.. Engine
warm-up maytake from several seconds
to several minutes (the colder the tem-
perature, the longer the warm-up).

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 'WARM UP
Before driving the unit in cold weather, the

transmission should be warmed up as fol-
lows:

1o Be sure the tractor is on level ground,.

2. Place the motion control lever in
neutral. Release the parking brake

and let the clutch/brake slowly return
to operating position,.

3 Allow one minute for transmission to

warm up..This can be done during
the engine warm up period..

. The attachments can also be used dur-

ing the engine warm-up period after the

transmission has been warmed up.
NOTE: If at a high altitude (above 3000
feet) or in cold temperatures (below 32° F)
the carburetor fuel mixture may need to be
adjusted for best engine performance (see

"TO ADJUST CARBURETOR" in the Service
and Adjustments section of this manual)..

PURGE TRANSMISSION

_!_CAUTION: Never engage or disengage
freewheel lever while the engine is running.

Toensure proper operation and performance,
it isrecommended that the transmission be

purged before operating tractor for the first
time..This procedure will remove anytrapped
air inside the transmission which may have
developed during shipping of your tractor.

IMPORTANT: Should your transmission
require removal for service or replacement,
itshould be purged after reinstallation before
operating the tractor,

t.. Place tractor safely on a level surface -

that is clear of objects and open - with

engine off and parking brake set,

2. Disengage transmission by placing
freewheel control in disengaged position

(See "TO TRANSPORT" in this section
of manual).,

3. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine..
After the engine isrunning, move throttle

control to slow position. With motion
control lever in neutral position, slowly
disengage clutch!brake pedal.

_CAUTION: At any time, during step 4,
there may be movement of the drive wheel&

4, Move motion control lever to full forward

position and hold for five (5) seconds.
Move lever to full reverse position and
hold for five (5) seconds.. Repeat this
procedure three (3) times..

5. Move motion control lever to neutral

position., Shutoff engine and set parking
brake°

6. Engage transmission by placing free-
wheel control in engaged position (See

"TO TRANSPORT" in this section of

manual)..

7.. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine..
After the engine is running, move throttle

control to half (1/2) speed., With motion
control lever in neutral position, slowly
disengage clutch/brake pedal.

8.. Slowly move motion control lever forward,

after the tractor moves approximately

five (5) feet, slowly move motion control

lever to reverse position. After the tractor
moves approximately five (5) feet return

the motion control lever to the neutral

position.. Repeat this procedure with the
motion control lever three (3) times..

Your transmission is now purged and now
ready for normal operation..

MOWING TIPS

• Tire chains cannot be used when the
mower housing is attached to tractor,

• Mower should be properly leveled for best
mowing performance See qro LEVEL

MOWER HOUSING" in the Service and
Adjustments section of this manual..

, The left hand side of mower should be

used for trimming,

- Drive sothat clippings aredischarged onto
the area that has already been cut. Have
the cut area to the right of the tractor. This
will result in a more even distribution of

clippings and more uniform cutting..

• When mowing iargeareas, startbyturning
to the right so that clippings will discharge
away from shrubs, fences, driveways,
etc.. After one or two rounds, mow in the
opposite direction making left hand turns

until finished ,,

• If grass is extremely tall, it should be
mowed twice to reduce load and possible
fire hazard from dded clippings. Make
first cut relatively high; the second to the
desired height..

• Do not mow grass when it is wet° Wet
grass will plug mower and leave undesir-
able clumps. Allow grass to dry before
mowing,.

• Always operate engine at full throttle
when mowing to ensure better mow-
ing performance and proper discharge
of material,, Regulate ground speed by
selecting a low enough speed to give the
mower cutting performance aswell as the
quality of cut desired

, When operating attachments, select a

ground speed that will suit the terrain and
give best performance of the attachment
being used,,

BRAKE OPERATION

If tractor requires more than five (5) feet to

TIRES

• Maintain proper air pressure in all tires
(See the sides of tires for proper PSI).

• Keep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect

control chemicals which can harm rubber..

- Avoid stumps, stones, deep ruts, sharp
objects and ether hazards that may cause

tire damage.

NOTE: Toseal tire punctures and prevent flat

BATTERY
Your tractor has a battery charging system

periodic charging of the battery with an au-
tomotive charger will extend its life.

TO CLEAN BA-FI-ERY AND TERMINALS
Corrosion and dirt onthe battery andterminals
can cause the battery to "leak" power.

1,, Disconnect BLACK battery cable first

then RED battery cable and remove

battery from tractor

2. Rinse the battery with plain water and dry.,
3_ Clean terminals and battery cable ends

with wire brush until bright,

4, Coat terminals with grease or petroleum

jelly,

5. Reinstall battery (See _'REPLACING

TRANSAXLE COOLING
The transmission fan and cooling fins should
be kept clean to ensure proper cooling.,,

Do not attempt to clean fan or transmission

while engine is running or while the trans-
mission Jshot,,To prevent possible damage

to seals, do not use high pressure water or
steam to clean transaxle.

• Inspect cooling fan to be sure fan blades
are intact and clean.

• lnspectcooling finsfordirt, grass clippings
and other materials., To prevent damage to
seals, do not use compressed air or high
pressure sprayer to clean cooling fins,,

TRANSAXLE PUMP FLUID

The transaxle was sealed at the factory and
fluid maintenance is not required for the life

of the transaxte Should thetransaxte ever
leak orrequire servicing, contact your nearest

Sears or other qualified service center.

V-BELTS

Check V-belts for deterioration and wear after
100 hours of operation and replace if neces-

sary. The belts are not adjustable° Replace
belts ff they begin to slip from wear,

ENGINE
LUBRICATION
Only use high quality detergent oil rated with

API service classification SG-SL. Selectthe

oil's SAE viscosity grade according to your
expected operating temperature.,
NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils (5W30,

10W30 etc.,)improve starting in cold weather,
they will result in increased oil consumption
when used above 32°E Check your engine

oil level more frequently to avoid possible

engine damage from running low on oil,

Change the oil after every 50 hours of opera-
tion or at least once a year if the tractor is

not used for 50 hours in one year,.

Check the crankcase oil level before starting
the engine and after each eight (8) hours of

operation., Tighten oil fill cap/dipstick se-

curely each time you check the oil level,

8. Use gauge on oil fill cap/dipstick for
checking level. For accurate reading,

insert dipstick into the tube and push

down firmly into place before removing.

Keep oil up to, but not over, the "FULE'

line on dipstick,, Push dipstick down firmly

into the tube when finished.

ENGINE OIL FILTER
Replace the engine oil filter every season or

every other oil change if the tractor is used
more than 100 hours in one year

AIR FILTER

Your engine will not run properly using a dirty

airfilteroService air cleaner more often under
dusty conditions See Engine Manual,

CLEAN AIR SCREEN

Air screen must be keptfree of dirt and chaff

toprevent enginedamagefrom overheating.,
Clean with awire brush or compressed air to
remove dirtand stubborn dried gum fibers.

_ ARNING: TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY, BEFORE PERFORMING ANY

SERVICE OR ADJUSTMENTS:

1. Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and set parking brake.

2_ Place motion control lever in neutral position

3. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position

4.. Turn ignition key to "STOP" and remove key.

5. Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped

6. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot
come in contact with plug_

TO REMOVE MOWER

1.. Place attachment clutch in "DISEN-
GAGED" position.

2, Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest

position.

3. Roll belt off engine pulley (M) and belt
keepers (G)_

4 Remove retainer spring (K), slide collar

(L) off and push housing guide (P) out

of bracket.

5.. Remove clutch cable spring (Q) from
idler arm (R)

6.. Disconnect front link (E) from mower -
remove retainer spring and washer

7, Go to either side of mower and discon-

nect mower suspension arm (A) from
chassis pin (B) and rear lift link (C) from

rear mower bracket (D) -remove retainer

springs and washers.

_, CAUTION: After rear lift links are discon-

nected, the attachment lift leverwili be spring
loaded. Have a tight grip on lift lever when
changing position of the lever.

8. Slide mowerout from under right side of
tractor..

IMPORTANT: if an attachment other than
the mower is to be mounted on the tractor,
remove the front link (E) and rear lift links

(C) from tractor and hook the clutch spring
(Q) into the cable guide on front edge of

lower dash.,

TO INSTALL MOWER
Be suretractoris onlevelsurface and engage

Have a tight grip on lift lever, lower it slowly

in arm over pin (B) on outside of tractor
chassis and secure with retainer spring

left side of tractor.. Insert rod end of link

assembly through front hole in tractor

IMPORTANT: Check belt for proper routing
in all mower pulley grooves,,

12..Ifnecessary, adjust gauge wheels before
operating mower as shown in the Opera-

TO LEVEL MOWER

Make sure tires are properly inflated to the
PSI shown on tires. Iftires are over or under

inflated, itmay affect the appearance of your
lawn and lead you to think the mower is not
adjusted properly

VISUAL SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

1.. With all tires properly inflated and if your
lawn appears unevenly cut, determine

which side of mower is cutting lower..

2.. With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn lift
link adjustment nut (A) to the left to lower
LH side of mower, or, to the right to raise
LH side of mower.

NOTE: Each full turn of adjustment nut will
change mower height about 3/16"..

3.. Test your adjustment by mowing some
uncut grass and visually checking the
appearance., Readjust, ff necessary, until
you are satisfied with the results.

PRECISION SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

1.. With all tires properly inflated, park tractor
on level ground or driveway.

,_k CAUTION: Blades are sharp.. Protect
your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade
with heavy cloth_

2. Raise mower to its highest position.

3., At both sides of mower, position blade at

side and measure the distance (A) from
bottom edge of blade to the ground. The

distance should be the same on both
sides..

4. if adjustment is necessary, see step 2 in
Visual Adjustment instructions above.

5_ Recheck measurements, adjust if neces-

sary until both sides are equal.

FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT
IMPORTANT: Deck must be level side-

to-side.
To obtain the best cutting results, the mower

blades should be adjusted so the front tip is
1/8" to t/2" lower than the rear tip when the

ower is in its highest position,

CAUTION: Blades are sharp, Protect
your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade
with heavy cloth.

- Raise mower to highest position.

• Position any blade so the tip is pointing
straight forward Measure distance (B)
to the ground at front and rear tip of the

blade.

• Iffront tip of blade is not 1/8" to 1/2" lower
than the rear tip, go to the front of tractor..

• With an 1!/16" or adjustable wrench,
loosen jam nut A several turns to clear
adjustment nut B

- With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn
front link adjustment nut (B) clockwise
(tighten) to raise the front of mower, or,

counterclockwise (loosen) to lower the
front mower.

• Recheck measurements, adjust if neces-

TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE BELT
The mower blade drive belt may be replaced

without tools,, Park the tractor on teve] sur-

face° Engage parking brake..

BELT REMOVAL-

1., Remove mowerfrom tractor (Sea"TO RE-

2. Work belt off both mandrel pulleys and
idler pulleys,,

TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT

Park the tractor on level surface. Engage
parking brake. For assistance, there is a
belt installation guide decal on bottom side

of left footrest,.
BELT REMOVAL -

1, Remove mower (See "TO REMOVE

MOWER" in this section of manual),

NOTE: Observe entire motion drive belt and
position of all belt guides and keepers.

2o Remove belt from stationary idler (A)and

clutching idler (B)_,

& Remove belt from centerspan idler (C)..

6., Pull belt slack toward rear of tractor.

Carefully remove belt upwards from

transmission input pulley and over cool-

ing fan blades (D).

4_ Remove belt downward from engine

pulley (E)_

5. Slide belt toward rear of tractor, off the

steering plate (F)and remove fromtractor.,

BELT INSTALLATION -

1. Install new belt from tractor rear to front,

over the steering plate (F) and above
clutch brake pedal shaft (G),,

2, Pull belt toward front of tractor and roll

belt onto engine pulley (E).,

3,, Pull belt toward rear of tractor, Carefully

work belt down around transmission
cooling fan and onto the input pulley (D)

Be sure belt is inside the belt keeper
4_ Install belt on centerspan idler (C),.
5, Install belt through stationary idler (A)

and clutching idler (B),

6, Make sure belt is in all pulley grooves

and inside all belt guides and keepers,
7,, Install mower (See "TO INSTALL MOW-

ER" in this section of manual).

TO CHECK BRAKE

If tractor requires more than five (5) feet to
stop at highest speed in highest gear on a
level, dry concrete or paved surface, then
brake must be service&
You may also check brake by:

1., Park tractor on a level, dry concrete or
paved surface, depress brake pedal all
the way down and engage parking brake.

2,. Disengage transmission by placing

freewheel control in "transmission dis-
engaged" position,, Pull freewheel control

out and into the slot and release so it is
held in the disengaged position.

The rear wheels must lock and skid when
you try to manually push the tractor forwar&

If the rear wheels rotate, then the brake
needs to be serviced., Contact a Sears or

other qualified service center,

FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER

Your new tractor front wheel toe-in and cam-

ber is set at the factory and is normal, The

frontwheel toe-in and camber are not adjust-

able, If damage has occurred to affect the
factory set front wheel toe-in or camber, con-
tact a Sears or other qualified service center.

TRANSAXLEMOTION CONTROL LEVER

NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT
The motion control lever has been preset

at the factory; adjustment should not be
necessary.,
1,, Loosen adjustment bolt in front of the

right rear wheel, and lightly tighten,

2, Start engine and move motion control

lever until tractor does not move forward
or backward,

3. Hold motion control lever inthat position
and turn engine off,,

4. While holding motion control lever in
place, loosen the adjustment bolt,,

After above adjustment is made, ifthe trac-

tor still creeps forward or backward whte
motion control lever is in neutral position,

follow these steps:

1. Loosen the adjustment bolt,,

2. Move the motion control lever 1/4 to 1/2
inch inthe direction it is trying to creep,,

3,, Tighten adjustment bolt securely.
4,. Start engine and test.
5, If tractor stll creeps, repeat above steps

untl satisfied,,

TO REMOVE WHEEL

1. Block up axle securely.

2° Remove axle cover, retaining ring and

washers to allow wheel removal (rear
wheels have a square key - Do not lose).

flat tires due to slow leaks, purchase and

usetire sealant fromSears,,Tire sealant also
prevents tire dry rot and corrosion.,

TO STARTENG1NE WITH WEAK BATTERY
_WARNING: Lead-acid batteries gener-

ate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame

and smoking materials away from batteries.

Always wear eye protection when around

batteries.

tfyourbatteryis too weak to startthe engine, it

should be recharged (See"BATTERY" inthe

MAINTENANCE section of this manual).
If "jumper cables" are used for emergency

starting, follow this procedure:

IMPORTANT: Your tractor is equipped with

a 12 volt system, The other vehicle must also

be a 12 volt system., Do not use your tractor
battery to start other vehicles_

TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -

1,, Connect one end of the RED cable to the

POSITIVE (+)terminal of each battery(A-

B), taking care notto short against tractor

chassis.

2. Connect one end of the BLACK cable
to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal (C) of fully
charged battery.

3, Connect the other end of the BLACK

cable (D) to good chassis ground, away
from fuel tank and battery,,

TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER -

1- BLACK cable first from chassis and then

from the fully charged battery.

2 RED cable last from both batteries,,

REPLACING BATTERY

by allowing a wrench or any other object

to contact both terminals at the same time.

Before connecting battery, remove metal

bracelets, wristwatch bands, rings, etc.

Positive terminal must be connected first to
prevent sparking from accidental grounding.

1.. Lift seat pan to raised position..

2.. Disconnect BLACK battery cable first
then RED battery cable and carefully

remove battery from tractor.

3.. Instali new battery with terminals in same
position as old battery,

4.. First connect RED battery cable to posi-

TRANSMISSION

Shouldyourtransmission require removal for

service or replacement, it should be purged
after reinstallation and before operating the

TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL
The throttle control has been preset at

the factory and adjustment should not be

The choke control has been preset at the

factory and adjustment should not be neces-

sary. Ifadjustment is necessary', see engine

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR

Your carburetor has been preset atthe factory

and adjustment should not be necessary,

However, minor adjustment may be required

to compensate for differences in fuel, tem-

perature, altitude or toad ..ffthe engine does

need adjustment, see engine manual

Immediately prepare your tractor for storage

at the end of the season or if the tractor will
not be used for 30 days or more..
_WARNING: Never store the tractor with
gasoline in the tank inside a building where
fumes may reach an open flame or spark..

Allow the engine to cool before storing in
any enclosure_

TRACTOR

Remove mower from tractor for winter

storage. When mower is to be stored for a
period of time, clean it thoroughly, remove
all dirt, grease, leaves, etc. Store in a clean,
dry area.,

t.. Clean entire tractor (See "CLEANING"

in the Maintenance section of this
manual).

2,. Inspect and replace belts, if necessary

(See belt replacement instructions in the
Service and Adjustments section of this
manual)°

3.. Lubricate as shown in the Maintenance
section of this manual..

4,. Be sure that all nuts, bolts and screws

are securely fastened.. Inspect moving
parts for damage, breakage and wear..

Replace if necessary.

5, Touch up all rusted or chipped paint

surfaces; sand lightly before painting.

BATTERY
. Fully charge the battery for storage_

o After a period of time in storage, battery

may require recharging.

- Tohelp prevent corrosion and power leak-
age during longperiods of storage, battery

cables should be disconnected and bat-
tery cleaned thoroughly (see '3"0 CLEAN

BATTERY AND TERMINALS" in the
Maintenance section of this manual)..

• After cleaning, leave cables disconnected
and place cables where they cannot come
in contact with battery terminals.

• If battery is removed from tractor for
storage, do not store battery directly on
concrete or damp surfaces°

ENGINE

FUEL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: It is important to prevent

gum deposits from forming in essential fuel
system parts such as carburetor, fuel hose,
or tank during storage. Also, alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol) can attract moisture which leads
to separation and formation of acids during
storage.. Acidic gas can damage the fuel
system of an engine while in storage.
* Empty the fueltank by starting the engine

and letting it run until the fuel lines and
carburetor are empty

- Never use engine or carburetor c_eaner
products in the fuel tank or permanent
damage may occur

- Use fresh fuel next season,.

NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable al-
ternative in minimizing the formation of fuel
gum deposits during storage° Add stabilizer
to gasoline in fuel tank or storage container.
Always fotlowthe mix ratio found on stabilizer
container.. Run engine at least 10 minutes

after adding stabilizer to allow the stabilizer to

reach the carburetor,. Do not empty the gas
tank and carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.

ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace
with clean engine oil. (See"ENGINE" in the

Maintenance section of this manual),_

CYLINDER(S)

1.. Remove spark plug(s)..

2. Pour one ounce of oil through spark plug
hole(s) into cylinder(s).

3. Turn ignition key to "START" position for
a few seconds to distribute oil..

4.. Replace with new spark pfug(s)_

OTHER

- Do not store gasoline from one season to
another,.

• Replace your gasoline can ffyour can starts

to rust.. Rust and/or dirt in your gasoline
will cause problems..

* If possible, store your tractor indoors and

cover itto give protection from dust and dirt.

. Cover your tractor with a suitable protec-

tive cover that does not retain moisture.

Do not use plastic,. Plastic cannot breathe

which allows condensation toform and wil!

cause your tractor to rust.

IMPORTANT: Never cover tractor while
engine and exhaust areas are still warm°

funciona con captadores de hierba u otros
dispositivos enganchados; pueden afectar la

ANTES DE REMOVER EL TRACTOR DE

LA CORREDERA
VERIFIQUE LA BATERiA

1. Levante del asiento a ta posici6n levantada..

AMtSO: Siesta bateria esta utilizada despuSs del

mes y a_5oindicado sobre la etiqueta (la etiqueta
que se encuentra entre los terminales], cargue la
bateria por un minimo de una hora a 6-t 0 amps
(Vea "BATER1A" en la secciSn de Mantenimento
de este manual).,

• Para instafe fa bateria, y cable de la
baterfa, reatice el procedimiento descrito en
"REEMPLAZAR LA BATERIA" del cap ftulo de
Servicio y Ajustes de este manual.

1. Destice et eje de extensi6n sobre el eje del

2. Ponga las orejas del accesorio de transici6n
de la direcci6n sobre las ranuras para las
orejas, en eltablero, y emp_jetas hacia abajo
para asegurarlas

3 Ponga las ruedas delanteras del tractor para

que estSn indicadas hacia adetante

4 Remueva el adaptador del volante y deslice

el adaptador sobre la extensi6n del eje de
direcci6n..

5 Ponga el volante de direcci6n de manera que

las barras transversales queden horizontales
(izquierda a derecha) y desltcelo al interior del
eje y sobre el adaptador,

6. Monte la arandela plana grande, arandela
de seguridad 5/16, pemo hexagonal 5/16 en
forrna segura.

7. Presione el inserto del volante de direcciSn
en el centro de 5ste..

8. Remueva el embalage de cart6n del cap5 y
de la rejilla,

IMPORTANTE: Revise y remueva todas las
grampas en ta corredera porque puden perforar
las Uantas en donde el tractor tiene que rodar
para salirse de ella.

INSTALACION DEL ASIENTO

Ajuste el asiento antes de apretar el perno de
aju_e

1. Remueva la perno y ta arandela plana que
aseguran el asiento a! empaque de cart6n

y pSngalos de tado para poder utilizarlos

durante la instataciSn del asiento sobre el

tractor. Remueva y desechese del embalaje

de cart6n.

2.. Conecte el internJptorcon el asiento.

posicionada en el agujero ancho ranurado en

en forma segura

Si ia posici6n de operaci6n no est& c6moda,

PARA AJUSTAR EL ASlENTO: Agarre el
mango deajuste y lev&ntese, deslice elasiento ala
posici6n deseada y suelte el mango de ajuste..

3 Ponga el control de [a rueda fibre en ]a

poslcton de giro libre para desenganchar la
transmisi6n. (Vea "PARA TRANSPORTAR"
en fa secci6n de Operaci6n de este manual)..

4. Haga rodar el tractor hacia delante fuera de

REVISION DE LA PRESION DE LAS
LLANTAS
Las tlantas en su unidad fueron infladas de-

masiado en la f&brica per razones de envio. La
presi6n de las Ilantas correctas es importante
para obtener el meier rendimiento en el cone.

• Reduzca la presi6n de los neum&ticos a la PSI
que se indica en estos.

REVISION DE LA NIVELACION DEL

COMe USAR SU TRACTOR
PARA AJUSTAR EL FRENO DE ESTACtONA-

MIENTO

Su tractor viene equipado con un interrupter sen-
sor que exige la presencia del operador Cuando
el motor est& funcionando, si ei operador trata de
bajarse de! asiento sin primero aplicar el freno de
estacionamiento, se apagar_, el motor
t. Presione el pedal (D) del freno/embrague

completamente y sostengafo.

2 Jale hacia ardba la pafanca del freno de mane

(H) ymant_ngala en esa posici6n; suefte grad-
ualmente el pedal del embraguelfreno (D), y
luego sueite la patanca del freno de mane..
El pedal tiene que quedar en la posici6n de

frene,, Asegt_rese que el freno de estaciona-

miento vaa sujetar el tractor en forma segura,

• Nunca use la estrangutaci6n para parar el
motor..

IMPORTANTE: Dejando el interrupter de fa
ignici6n en cualquier posici6n otra que "STOP"
causar i que fa bateria se descargue (muerta).,

AVISO: Bajo ciertas cendiciones, cuando el trac-
tor est_ parade con et motor andando en vacfo,
los gases de escape del motor caliente pueden
hacer que el c_sped se ponga "caf6" Para
eliminar esta pesibilidad, siempre pare el motor
cuando pare el tractor en #,reas con c_sped.,

_PREGAUGI6N: Siempre pare el tractor com-
pletamente, segOn se ha descrito anteriormente,
antes de abandonar [a posici6n del operado_

PARA USAR EL CONTROL DE LA ACELER-

Siempre opere el motor a una aceteraci6n

• Si el motor funciona a una velocidad infedor ala
m&xima (r&pida), su rendimiento disminuye

• Para parer el mecanismo impulsor, presione el
pedal del freno/embrague completamente
Mueva ta pafanca de control de movimiento
ala posici6n de neutro,

MOTOR -

• Mueva et control de ta aceleraci6n (D) ata
posici6n de lento.

AVISO: Si no se mueve el control de la aceler-
aci6n ata poslci6n de lento y se permite que el

motor ande en vacFo antes de pararlo puede
producir la contraexpiosi6n del motor,

Gire la Ilave de ignici6n (F) ala posici6n de
apagado "STOP" y remueva la Ilave alabando-
ner eltractor para evitar el use no autorizado

3. Lentamente, mueva la palanca de control de

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DE
LA SEGADORA

La posici6n de ta palanca elevadora (A) determina
a qu6 altura se cortar,'_ el c_sped..

• Coloque la palanca elevadora en la ranura de
la altura deseada..

La gama de la altura de code es de aproxima-
damente I a 4 pulgadas. Las alturas se miden
desde el suelo a la punta de ta cuchilla cuando
el motor no est,, funcionando. Estas aituras son

aproximadas y pueden variar dependiendo de las
condiciones deI suelo, de la altura det c_sped y
del tipo del c_sped que se est_ segando..

• Elc_sped promedio debe codarse aproximada-

mente a 2-1/2 pulgadas durante tatemporada
fria y sobre 3 pulgadas durante los meses
calurosos.. Para obtener un c6sped m_s salud-
able y de mejor apadencia, siegue a menudo
y despu6s de un crecimiento moderado

• Para obtener el mejor rendimiento de code, et
c6sped que tiene m_s de 6 pulgadas de altura
debe segarse dos veces..Haga elpdmercode ret-
ativamente alto; el segundo a ta attura deseada

PARA AJUSTAR LAS RUEDAS
CALIBRADORAS
Las ruedas calibradoras est&n bien ajustadas

cuando se encuentran un poco a distancia del
terreno al mismo tiempo que la segadora est_ a
la aftura de corte deseada. Entonces tas ruedas
calibradoras mantienen el conjunto segador en
posici6n para prevenir el code raspeo en casi

todos los terrenos..

AVISO: Ajuste las ruedas calibradoras con el
tractor en una superficie nivelada plana

I. Ajuste la segadora a la altura de corte

deseada con la manilla de ajuste de at-
tura (Vea °'PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE

CORTE DE LA SEGADORA" en la secci6n

de OperaciSn de este manual)

2. Con la segadora a la aftura deseada para ta

posici6n de code, se tienen que montar las
ruedas catibradoras de modo que queden
un poco sobre el suelo.. Instale las ruedas

calibradoras en et agujero adecuado con el

pemo con resatto, la arandela de 3/8, y la
tuerca de seguridad de 3/8-16 y apri_telos
en forma segura.

3. Repita el procedimiento para el lado opuesto
instalando la rueda calibradora en ef mismo

agujero de ajuste

PARA )PERAR LA SEGADORA
Su tractor viene equipada con un interruptor

sensor que exige la presencia de! operado_. Si
el motor est& funcienando y el embrague del ac-
cesorio est& enganchado y el operador trata de
bajarse del asiento, se apagar,_ et motor,. Tiene
que mantenerse sentado completa y centrafmente
en el asiento para impedir que el motor vaci]e o
se apague cuando se opere su equipo en terreno
disparejo, &spero o en cerros.

1.. Seleccione la altura de code deseada.

2. Baje la segadora con el control de levan-
tamiento det accesorio.

3. Haga arrancar fas cuchi[tas de la segadora
enganchando el control del embrague del

accesorio.

operador de viajar marcha atr_s con el embrague

ignici6n se ponga enla posici6n de"ON" del ROS
ATENCION: Ir marcha atr,_s con el embrague
puesto para cedar, no es recomendable, pm
niendo el ROSen posici6n "ON", para permitir e!
funcionamiento arras conel embrague puesto, se
tiene que hacer s61ocuando el operador Io consi-

dera necesario para reposicionar la m&quina con
el dispositivo embragado. No siegue en rev_s a

menos que sea absolutamente necesario.
USAR EL SISTEMA DE FUNCIONAMtENTO

ATRI_S -
Utilice el tractor solamente si est,, seguro de que

no ingresar_n ni_os ni otras personas o animates
al _rea donde se va a cortar el c_sped.

PARA OPERAR EN CERROS

_I_ADVERTENClA: No maneje hacia arriba o

hacia abajo en cerros con pendientes supedores a
15_y no maneje atravesando ninguna pendiente..
Ulilice ]a gufa de la pendiente proporcionada en
la parte postedora de este manual.

• Escoja la velocidad mrs lenta antes de arran-
car hacia ardba o hacia abajo en cerros..

• Evite parar o cambiar la velocidad en cerros.

• Si es absolutamente necesario el parar, empuje
el pedal del embrague!freno r&pidamente a
la posici6n de freno y enganche et freno de
estacionamiento.

• Mueva ta palanca de control de movimiento a
fa posiciSn de neutro.

IMPORTANTE: La palanca de control de movi-
miento no vuelve a la posici6n de neutro cuando
el pedal del embragueifreno esta presionado.

• Para volver a empezar con el movimiento,
suelte lentamente, el freno de estacionamiento

y el pedal del embraguelfreno.

. Lentamente, mueva la palanca de control de

movimiento af ajuste mrs lento.

• Gire siempre lentamente

PARA TRANSPORTAR
Cuando empuje o arrastre su tractor asegurese de
desenganchar la transmisi6n poniendo el control

de la rueda fibre en la posiciSn de marcha de rue-
da libre. Et control de marcha de rueda libre esta
situado en la barra de tracciSn trasera del tracto[

1. Levante fa palanca de levantamiento del ac-

cesodo a su posiciTn m,% alta

2. Tire det mando de la rueda fibre hacia afuera

y hacia abajo hasta que se coloque en la guia
y su_fta]o de manera que se mantenga en ta
posici6n de desenganchada.

• No empuje o arrastre el tractor a m_,sde dos

(2) MPH..

• Para volver a accionar ]a transmisi6n, invierta

este procedimiento

TRANSMIStON ENGANCHADA

TRANSMISION DESENGANCHADA

AVISO: Para proteger el cap6 contra el daSo
cuando transporte su tractor en un camiTn o
remolcador, asegQrese que el cap8 est_ cerrado
y asegurado al tractor.. Use los medios apropia-
dos para amarrar el cap5 al tractor (cuerdas,
cordeles, etc..).

REMOLQUE DE CARRETtLLAS O OTROS
ACCESORIOS

Remolque solamente los accesofios recomenda-
dos y especificados per el fabricante del tractor
Use sentido com0n cuado este remoIcando.. Las
cargas pesadas, cuando este yendo sobre una
pendiente, son peligrosas, las Ilantas pueden
perder su tracciSn con el terreno y pueden oca-
sionar que pierda e[ control de su tractor.

ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL MO-
TOR

REVISE EL NIVEL DE ACEITE DEL MOTOR

E1motor en su tractor ha side enviado desde la
f_brica Ueno con aceite de calidad para verano.

t. Revise el aceite del motor con el tractor en

terreno nivelado

2.. Remueva tatapa!varilla indicadorade nivel de
reIIeno del aceite y limpietas, vuefva a insertar
la varilla indicadora de nivel y atornille Ia tapa
hasta que quede apretada, espere per unos
cuantos segundos, remu6vala y lea el hive!
del aceite Si es necesado, agregue aceite
hasta que se haya alcanzado la marca Ileno
(FULL) en la varilta indicadora de nivel No fo
Uenedemasiado.

- Para ta eperaciTn en clima fdo, debe cambiar

el aceite para poder arrancar m_s f_,cilmente

. Ltene el estanque de combustible. Llene

hasta Ia parte inferior del cuelto de relleno del
estanque de gasolina. No Io llene demasiado.
Use gasolina regular, sin plomo, nueva y lim-
pia con el minimo de 87 octanes. (El use de
gasolina con plomo aumentar& Ios depTsitos
de 6xido de plomo y carbono y se reducir,_ la
duraci6n de ta v&lvula). No mezcle el aceile
con ta gasolina. Para asegurar que la gasolina
utilizada sea fresca compre estanques los
cuales puedan ser uttlizados durante los prim-

eros 30 dias.
AI_PRECAUOI6N: Umpie el aceite o el combus-
tible derramado, No almacene, derrame o use
gasofina cerca de una llama expuesta.

IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en tempera-
tures per debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina de
inviemo fimpia y nueva pera auedar a asegurer
un buen arranque en clime frio..

PRECAUCION: Combustibles mezclados con
alcohol (conocidos come gasoho[, o el use de
etanol o metenot) pueden atraer ta humedad,
fe que conduce ala separaci6n y formaci6n de
&cidos durante el almacenamiento.. La gasoline
acidica puede daSar el sistema del combustible

de un motor durante el almecenamiento.. Para
evitar los problemas con el motor, se debe vaciar

el sistema de combustible antes de guarderle per
un periodo de 30 dias o mi_s. Vecie el estanque
de combustible, haga arrancar el motor y h_gelo
funcioner haste que las lineas del combustible y el
carburador queden vacios. La pr6xima temporada

Nunca use produclos de timpieza pare el motor o
pera el carburador en el estanque del combustible
pues se pueden producir daSos permanentes.

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR
AI hecer arrancar el motor per la pdmera vez o

si se ha acabado el combustible del motor, se
necesitar& tiempo pare el arranque extra para
mover el combustible desde et estenque haste

1.. Aseg_rese que el control de rueda tibre este

eci6n, suelte el pedal del embrague!freno y
ponga et irene de estacionamiento.

AMISO: Antes de arrancar, lea las instrucciones

plado,

en el sentido que giran tas menillas del refoj

haga funcionar el arrancador continuemente

Y MAS)

7 Cuando arranque el motor, mueva el control

de fa aceleraci6n ale posici6n de r&pido

• Los accesorios y el embrague ahora pueden
ser utilizados Si el motor no acepta esta carga,

vuelva a arrancar el motor para permitide que

se caliente per un minute utilizando el estran-
gulador come descdbido arriba.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO FRIO (50° Y ME-

NOS)

7. AI hacer arrancar el motor, mantenga el
control de la aceleraci6n ala posici6n de es-
trengulaci6n haste que el motor se caliente y
empieze funcionar mal. Una vez que empieze
a funcionar mal, mueva inmediatamente el
control de laaceleraci6n a la posici6n r&pida..

El calentamiento del motor puede tomar a

partir de redes segundos a varies minutes

(cuanto m&s fria es tatemperatura, m&s largo

es el calentamiento)

CALENTAMIENTO PARA LA TRANSMISION
AUTOMATICA
Antes de conducir fa unidad en un tiempo frio, le

transmisi6n debe ser calentada come las instruc-
clones siguientes:

1 Aseg_rese que el tractor este situado en una

superficie nivefada

2 Ponge la palanca de control en neutro A[ivie

el irene de estacionamiento y deje que el
embragueifreno vuelva a la posici6n de op-

eraci6n

3. Permita que la transmisi6n se caliente durante
un minute Esto puede ser echo durante el

tiempo de celentamiento del motor.

- Los accesodos pueden ser utilizedos durante el

que la transmisi6n halla side catentada
AMtSO: Si se encuentra a mucha altura (sobre
3000 pies) o en clime file (per debajo de 32°F
[0°C]), fa mezcla del combustible del carburador
debe ser ajustada pare el meier rendimiento del
motor. (Vea "PARA AJUSTAR EL CARBURA-

DOR" en la secci6n de Servicio y Ajustes de

PURGAR LA TRANSMISION

_,PRECAUCI6N: Nunca enganche o desen-
ganche la palanca det control de rueda fibre
cuando et motor esta funcianando

Para asegurar la operaci6n y ejecuci6n adecuada,
es recomendado que tatransmisi6n sea purgada
antes de operar el tractor para la primera vez.
Este proceso remover& cualquier aire adentro
de la transmisi6n que se halla formado durante
el transporte de su tractor..
IMPORTANTE: Si poracasosutransmisi6n debe
set removida para servicio o reemplazo, debe
ser purgada despu6s de la reinstalaci6n y antes
de operar et tractor.

I Para mayor seguridad, ubique el tractor en

una superficie nivelada, despejada de cual-
quiet objeto y abierta, con el motor apagaclo
y el freno de mano puesto

2 Desenganche la transmisi6n poniendo el

control de rueda fibre en la posici6n de desen-
ganchado e,lea "PARA ELTRANSPORTE" en
esta secci6n de este manual)..

3 Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece

el motor.. Despu_s que este corriendo el mo-
tor, mueva el control de estrangulaci6n a la
posici6n de lento. Con la palanca de rueda
libre en la posici6n de neutral, desenganche
lentamente el embrague/el freno del pedal

_I_PRECAUCI6N: En el transcursa del paso 4,
puede que de pronto se pongan en movimiento

las r.uedas
4_. Mueva la palanca del control de movimiento

a la posici6n total de adelante y suj_tela du-
rante cinco (5) segundos. Mueva la palanca
hacia la pasici6n total de marcha atr&s y
suj6tela durante cinco (5) segundos.. Repita
este proceso tres (3) veces

5. Mueva la palanca del control de movimiento
a la posici6n de neutro ..Apague el motor y
embrague el freno de estacionamiento

6 Enganche la transmisi6n poniendo el control

de rueda tibre en la posicibn de conducir (Vea
"PARA TRANSPORTAR" en esta secci6n del

manual).

7. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece el
motor. Despu6s que este corriendo et motor,
mueva el control de estrangulaci6n media

(1/2) velocidad. Con la palanca de control
de movimiento a la posici6n de neutro, len-
tamente desenganche el embrague/el freno
del pedal

8 Mueva tentamente la palanca de control de

movimiento hacia adelante, despu6s que el
tractor se mueva aproximadamente cinco

(5) pies, mueva lentamente con la palanca
de control de movimiento a ta posici6n
contraria. Despu6s que el tractor se mueva
aproximadamente unos cinco (5) pies vuelva
a poner la palanca de control de movimienlo
en la posici6n de neutro. Repita este proced-
imiento ta patanca de control de movimienlo
tres (3) veces

Su transmisid_n esta ahora purgado y dispuesto
para la operaci6n normal.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR

• No se pueden usar las cadenas para las llantas
cuando la caja de fa segadora est', adjunta af

tractor._

• La segadora debe estar nivelada en forma
adecuada para obtener el mejor rendimiento
al segar. Vea "PARA NIVELAR LA CAJA DE
LA SEGADORA" en ia secci6n de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual..

• El lado izquierdo de la segadora se debe usar
para recorte.

• Maneje de modo que los recortes se descarguen

en el &tea que ya ha side cortada.. Manlenga
el &rea de corte a la derecha del tractor.. Esto

producir& una distdbuci6n mrs pareja de los
recortes y un corte m&s uniforme.

• AI segar las _rea grandes, empiece girando a
la derecha de modo que los recortes se des-

carguen, alej&ndose de los arbustos, cercos,
entradas de autom6viles, etc. Despu6s de una
o dos vuettas, siegue en la direcci6n opuesla,
haciendo virajes a la izquierda, hasta que
termine

• Si el c6sped est& demasiado alto, se debe

segar dos veces para reducir la carga y los
posibtes peligros de incendio debido a los
recartes secos Haga el primer corte relativa-
mente alto; el segundo a la aitura deseada.

- No siegue el c6sped cuando est_ mojado. El
c6sped mojado taponar& la segadora y dejar&
montones indeseables Permita que se seque
el c_sped antes de segarto.

• Siempre opere el motor con una aceleracibn
completa cuando siegue para asegurarse
de conseguir un mejor rendimiento y una

descarga apropiada de los materiales Regule
fa velocidad de recorrido seleccionando un

cambio Io suficientemente bajo para obtener un
rendimiento de corte de parte de su segadora
y tambi6n la calidad del corle deseada

- Cuando opere con accesorios, seleccione una
velocidad de recorrido que se acomode al ter-
rend y le permila obtener el mejor rendimiento
det accesorio que se est& usando..

RECOMENDACIONES GENERALES
La garantia de este tractor no cubre los articulos

que han estado sujetos al abuse o a la negligen-
cia del operador. Para recibir todo el valor de
la garantia, el operador tiene que mantener la
segadora segun las instrucciones descritas en

este manual.
Hay atgunos ajustes que se tienen que hacer en

forma ped6dica para poder mantener su tractor
adecuadamente..

AI menos una vez cada estaci6n comprobar
si es necesario efectuar los adjustes descdtos
en las secciones de Servicio y Aiustes de este
manual-.

I. Remueva la protecci6n de los terminales.

y remueva la bateria del tractor

3 Enjuague la baterla con agua corriente y

4., Limpie los terminales y los extremes del cable

de la bateria con un cepil!o de alambre hasta
que queden brillantes..

5,. Cubra los terminales con grasa o parafina

6.. Reinstale la bateria (Vea "Reempfazar la
Bateria" en la secci6n de Servicio y ajustes

ENFRIAMIENTO DEL TRANSEJE
[_as aletas de enfriamiento y el ventilador de ta

transmisi6n tienen que mantenerse fimpios pare

asegurar el enfriamiento adecuado
No trate de timpiar el ventilador o la transmisi6n

cuando el motor est_ funcionando o mientras la
transmisiSn est6 caliente.
. Inspeccione el ventilador do enfriamiento para

intactas y limpias

• Inspeccione las aletas de enfriamiento pare

verificar si hay mugre, recortes de c_sped u

Revise las correas V pare verificar si existe
deterioro y desgaste despu_s de 100 horas de
operaci6n y c_mbielas si es necesario.. Las cor-
reas no son ajustabtes. Cambie las correas si
empiezan a deslizarse debido al desgaste.

Use solamente aceite de detergente de alta

cafidad ctasificado con fa cfasificaci6n SG-SL de

servicio API, Seleccione la calidad de viscosidad
del aceite SAE segSn su temperature de oper-

8. Use un medidor en ta tapaivarilla indicadora
del nivel pare relleno del aceite pare revisar et
nivet. Para [a tectura exacta, inserte ]a varitla
indicadora de nivel en et tube y empt3ieta
hacia abajo firmemente en su sitio antes de
quitada Mantenga el aceite hasta, pete no en-
cima, de la marca de !leno "FULL_ de favarilla
indicadora de nivel Empuje la vadlla hacia
aba}o firmemente en e! tube cuando termine

FtLTRO DE ACEITE DEL MOTOR
Cambie el filtro de aceite del motor cada tempo-
rada ovez per medio que cambie el aceite, si el

tractor se usa m§s de 100 horas en un ale.

FILTRO DE COMBUSTIBLE EN LINEA
El ditto de combustible debe cambiarse una vez

cada temporada.. Si el filtro de combustible se
tapona, obstruyendo el_ujo del combustible hacia

el carburador, es necesario cambiar!o.

1. Con el motor frio, remueva el filtro y tapone
las secciones de ia Iinea de combustible

PARA DESMONTAR LA CORTADORA
DE ClaSPED

1.. Suelte elembrague poni_ndolo an la posici6n
"DISENGAGED" ("DESACTIVADO').

2. Baje la patanca elevadora de montaje a la
posici6n de m&s abajo..

3. Ruede la correa de polea del motor (M) y

fijadors de la correa (G).

4.. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice la
abrazadera (L) hasta quitarta, y saque a
presi6n la guia de la caja (P) hasta que se
satga del sopode.

5. Retire el resorte deI cable det embrague (Q)
del braze del engranaje (R)..

6 Desconecte la pieza de uni6n anterior (E) de

la cortadora- retire el resorts de contenci6n
y la arandeia..

7 Per uno de los tados de la cortadora,

desconecte e! braze de suspensi6n de fa
cortadora (A) del chasis y la pieza de uni6n
posterior (C) de la barra posterior de la cor-
tadora (D) - retire los resortes de contenci6n

CUIDADO: Una vez que se desconecten las

piezas de uni6n posteriores, la palanca elevadora

funcionar_, a resorte.. Sujete con fuerza la palanca

elevadora al cambiarla de posici6n

8. Deslice la cortadora per debajo del lade
derecho del tractor.

IMPORTANTE: Si se monta un accesorio difer-
ante del cortac_sped al tractor, hay qua quitar

el estribo frontal (E) y fos estribos traseros de
elevaci6n (C) del tractor y enganchar el resorte
de embrague (Q) en la guia del cable an el borde
frontal del salpicadero m_s bajo..
INSTALE LA SEGADORA
Aseg0rese de que el tractor se encuentre en una
superficie nivelada, y ponga ef freno de mane..

t. Haga descender ]a palanca elevadora a su

posici6n m_s baja.

CUIDADO: La palanca elevadora funciona

a resorte.. Suj_tela con fuerza, h&gaJadescender

t0 Instate la correa pas&ndola por encima de ta

polea del motor (M) y fijadors de ta correa

(G).

6. FtJE LA PIEZA DE UNION ANTERIOR (E)

- Trabaje por el tado izquierdo del tractor
Introduzca et extremo de la barra de la pieza
de uni6n pot el orificio anterior de la barra de
suspensi6n anterior del tractor (F)..

7. |ntroduzca el otro extremo de la pieza de
uni6n (E) en e] odficio que se encuentra en
la barra anterior de la cortadora (H), y fijefo
por medio de una arandela y un resorte de
contenci6n (J).

8. Retire et resorte del cable del embrague (Q)
del brazo dot engranaje (R).

IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la correa encaje
bienen todas las ranuras de las poleas de la

codadora

11 Suba ta palanca elevadora a la posici6n de

m&s arriba.

12..Si es necesario, ajuste las rueditas del calibre
antes de poner en funcionamiento la coda-
dora, como se ilustra en e[ capitulo de Manejo
de este manual..

NOTA: Coda vuelta completa de la tuerca de

4. En case que sea necesario realizar un ajuste,

lea los paso 2 de los instrucciones de Regu-

cortado, los cuchillas de la cortadora deben
ajustarse de tal manera que la punta anterior
quede 1/8" a 1/2" m_s abajo que fa punta pos-

terior cuando la cortadora se encuentre en su

posici6n m_,s alto

!_ansCUIDADO: Los cuchiltas son afiladas Prot_-

o Suba la SEGADORA a la posiciSn m&s alto.

- Ubique cualquiera de las hojas de la cuchilla

de tal manera qua fa punta quede apuntando
directamente hacia adelante.. Mida la dislancia

(B) qua hay entre la punta anterior y el suelo y

entre la punta posterior y e! suelo.

• Sila punta anterior de fa hoja de la ct_chilla

no est_ I/8" a 1/2" m_s abajo qua la punta
posterior, dirijase a la parte de adelante del

• Con una llave ingtesa de 11/I6" o de calibre

regulable, afloje la tuerca A, d&ndole varias
vueltas para despejar la tuerca de ajuste B

regulable, haga girar la tuerca de ajuste de la
pieza de uniSn anterior (B) en sentido horario

arras del tractor. Con touche cuidado, retire
la correa de ta polea de entrada de la trans-
misi6n, movi_ndola hacia arriba y pas__ndola
per encima de las paletas del ventilador (D).,

4, Retire la correa de la polea del motor movi6-

ndola hacia abajo (E),

5. Destice la correa hacia la parte de atr_s del
tractor, retirela de la placa de direcci6n (F) y
qufteta del tractor..

MONTAJE DE LA CORREA

I.. Instale la correa nueva de la parte de arras

a la parte de adelante dal tractor, pas_ndola
per encima de la placa de direcci6n (F) y del
v_stago de1 pedal del embrague / freno (G).

2. Jale la correa hacia la parle de adelante del
tractor y p_seloper sobre ta poleade! motor (E).

3. Jale la correa hacia fa parte de atr&s de[

tractor. Con mucho cuidado, mueva la correa
hacia abajo y p6sela afrededor del ventilador
de transmisi6n y per encima de la polea de
entrada (D).. Cerci6rese de qua la correa
est_ cafzada dentro del guardacorre&

4. Coloque la correa sobre el pir_6ncentra! ((3)

5 Paso ta correa a trav_s del pi#,6n estacionario

(A) y del pi56n del embrague (B)_.

6 AsegOrese de que la correa ca!co en todas

las ranuras de las poleas y dentro de todas

las gufas y guardacorreas ....

5. Instale la SEGADORA ('v'er"PARA MONTAR

LA SEGADORA" en este capitulo del manual)

CONTROLAR Y AJUSTAR EL FRENO
Si el tractor exige m&s de cinco (5) pies para

pararse a una velocidad mrs alta en el cambio
m&s alto en una superficie nivelada de hormig6n
seco o pavimentada, entonces se debe controlar

y ajustar el freno.

CONTROL DEL FRENO

1. Aparcar el tractor en una superficie nivelada
de hormig6n seco o pavimentada, presionar
el pedal del freno hasta el fondo y accionar

et freno de estacionamiento.

2. Desembragar la transmisi6n colocando el
mando de la rueda tibre en la posici6n "trans-
misi6n desembragada". T_rar el mando de la
rueda libre fuera y denlro fa ranura y soltar
asi se coloca en la posici6n desembragad&

Las ruedas traseras tiene que bloquearse y pa-
tinar cuando se intenta empujar hacia adelante
e! tractor manualmente, Sustituir las zapatas del
freno o contactar con Sears o con un otro centre
de servicio cualificado

IMPRESION / INCLINACION DE LAS RUEDAS
DELANTERAS

La impresi6n e inclinaci6n de fas ruedas delan-
teras de su nuevo tractor vienen as( de f_brica y
son normales. La impresi6n y fainclinaciSn de las
ruedas delanteras no son regulables En case
que se produzca algun dafio que afecte la im-
presi6n o la inclinaci6n de las ruedas delanteras
tal come vinieron de f_.brica, p6ngase en contacto
con un centre de servicios Sears u otro centre de
servicios autorizado

REGULACI(_N DE LA PALANCA DE CONTROL

DEL MOV|MIENTO NEUTRO DEL CAMBIO

MECANICO

La palanca de control del movimiento del cam-

bio meoW,nice ya viene predefinida per la Casa
constructora y per to tanto no requiere ulteriores

regulaciones.

1. Aflojar ligeramente el perno de regulaci6n en
la parle anterior de la rueda posterior derecha;

2. Poner en marcha el motor ymover la palanca
de control del movimiento del cambio mec&ni-

co hasta Itevarla en una posici6n en laque no
se pueda mover ni adelante ni atr&s;

3.. Mantener la patanca de control del movi-
miento del cambio mec&nico en esta posici6n
y apagar el motor;

4.. Manteniendo la palanca en la posici6n arriba

indicada0 aflojar el perno de regulaciSn;

5. Mover la patanca de control del movimiento

en posici6n neutro (cierre met&lice);

6. Enrosoar bien et perno de regulaci6n.

AVISO: Desplazar el ptano de trabajo de la sega°

dora hasta la posici6n m_.sbaja para aumentar el

juego al fin de acceder al perno de regulaci6n..

Si el tractor sigue desliz._,ndose adelante y atr_s,
despu6s de esta regulaci6n y con ta palanca en
posicibn neutro, efectuar las operaciones indica-
das de seguida.

1.. Aftojar et perno de regulaci6n..
2_ Mover la palanca de control del movimiento de

I/4 o 1,/2pulgaren la direcci6n de deslL?3miento

3. Enroscar bien e! perno de regulaci6n..

4.. Poner en marcha el motor y probado

5. Si el tractor sigue deslizando, repetir las
operaciones arriba indicadas basra alcanzar

los resultados deseados.

2. Remueva ta cubierta del eje, et anillo de reten-

AVISO: Para arreglar [as llantas perforadas
y p_ra prevenir que tenga llantas pinchadas a
causa de pequer_as fugas, comprar de su com-
merciante Sears y utilizar el sello para ttantas.

ojos alrededor de tas baler!as Si su bateria est,_

Si se usan "cables de empalme" para un arranque
de emergencia, siga este procedimienlo:
IMPORTANTE: Su tractor esta equipado con un

sistema de 12 volts El otto vehl'culo tambi_n tiene
que tener un sistema de 12 veils..No use labateria

de su tractor para hacer arrancar a otros vehiculos.
PARAADJUNTAR LOS CABLES DE EMPALME-

I. Conecte cada extreme del cable ROJO con

el terminal (A-B) POS1TIVO (+) de cada
baterla, preocup_ndose de no hacer corto-

circuito en el chasis.

2 Conecte un extreme de! cable NEGRO

con el terminal (C) NEGATIVe (-) de una
bateria completamente cargada.

3 Conecte el otro extreme del cable (D) NE-

GRO con un buena CONEXION A TIERRA
DEL CHAStS, alejado del estanque de

combustible y de la bateria.
PARA REMOVER LOS CABLES, INVIERTA EL

1 El cable NEGRO primero del chasis y luego

de la baterla completamente cargada.

BATER{A

- Cargue ta bateria completamente antes de

guardada.

- Despu6s de cierto per[ode de tiempo en

almacenamIento, la bater|a puede necesitar
velvet a cargarse.,

• Para ayudar a evitar ta corrosi6n y tas fugas de

potencia durante largos per{odes de almace-
namiento, se deben desconectar los cables de
la bateda y se debe limpiar cuidadpsamente
(vea "PARA LIMPIAR LA BATERIA Y LOS

TERMfNALES" en ta secci6n de Mantenimien-
tode este manual).

• Despu_s de limpiarla, deje los cables

desconectados y pSngalos en donde no
puedan entrar en contacto con los terminaies
de la bater|a

• Si se remueve ta bater{a del tractor para el

a]macenamiento, no la guarde directamente
sobre concrete o sobre superficies h0medas.

MOTOR
StSTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE
tMPORTANTE: Es important evitar que se for-

man depositos de goma en partes fundamen-

tales del sistema de combus-tible tales come el

carburador, el filtro del combustible, la manguera
del combustibles mezctados con alcohol
(conocido come gasohol o qua tienen etanol o
metanol) pueden atraer humedad, lo qua con-
duce a la separaciSn y a ta formaci6n de acudos
durante elatmacenamiento. La gasolina acidica
puede daSar el sistema de combustible de un
motor durante el periodo de almacenamiento_

- Vaciar el dep6sito del carburante poniendo en
marcha el motor y dej_ndolo funcionar hasta
que el carburante termine el carburador est_a

vacio

o Nunca use _os productes para limpieza del

carburador o del motor en el estanque de
combustible pues se pueden producir da_os
permanentes,

o Use combustible nuevo la pr6xima

temporada.

AVISO: E1 estabilizador de combustible es una
alternativa aceptable para reducir a un m{nimo

ta formaciSn de dep6sitos de goma en el com*
bustibte durante el per{ode de almacenamiento.
Agregue estabilizador a ta gasolina en el es-
tanque de combustible o en el envase para el
almacenamiento Siempre siga {a proporci6n de
mezcta que se encuentra en eFenvase del esta-
bitizador.. Haga funcionar el motor per lo menos

10 minutes despu6s de agregar ef estabi[izador,
para permitir qua _ste llegue ai carburador. No
vaciar la gasolina del estanque de gasolina y et
carburador si se est& usando estabilizador de
combustible..

ACEITE DEL MOTOR
Drene el aceite (con el motor caliente) y c_.mbielo

con aceite de motor limpio, (Vea "MOTOR" en Ea
secci6n de Mantenimiento" de este manual )
ClUNORO(S)

1. Remueva la(s) bujia(s)..

2. Vacie una onza de aceite a trav6s del

agujero(s) de _abuj_a en el ci]indro(s)..

3. Gire la llave de ignici6n a la posici6n de "Arm

ranque" (Start), per unos cuantos segundos
para distribuir el aceite.

4.. Cambie per bujia(s) nueva(s)..
OTROS

- No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a la

otra

• Cambie el envase de la gasotina si se emp-

ieza a oxidar La oxidaciSn y/o ra mugre en su
gasolina producir_n problemas

• Si es posible, guarde su unidad en un recinto

cerrado y cr3brala para protegeda contra el
polvo y la mugre..

• Cubra su unidad con un forro protector ad-

ecuado qua no retenga ia humedad. No use
pt_stico. EEpl&stico no puede respirar, 1oque
perm|te la formaci6n de condensaci6n, Io que
producir& la oxidaci6n de su unidad
