SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
A A WARNING: WHEN USING
ELECTRIC TOOLS, BASIC
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS,
INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING, SHOULD
ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED. TO REDUCE RISKS
OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK AND PERSONAL
INJURY, START BY READING THESE
IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES.
DOUBLE INSULATION - SAFETY PLUS...
Double insulated construction and shock proof
housing assure protection from electrical shock
with an extra layer of electrical insulation plus the
primary insulation system and a two prong
polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
Even if the primary system fails, the secondary
barrier protects you. Double insulated tools do not
require three-wire grounding or a grounding
adapter.
• This plug will fit in a polarized outlet ONLYone
way. Do not force or change the plug in any way to
make it fit your extension cord.
• Use only POLARIZED extension cords marked for
outdoor use. Make sure the cord is in good
condition. The minimum acceptable conductor
gauge for an extension cord shorter than 25 feet is
18 gauge, and from 25 to 100 feet is 16gauge. If in
doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the
gauge number, the heavier the cord.
• If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician to install the proper outlet.
• Guard against electric shock. Operate the
• buffer/polisher only in a clean, dry area. Rubber
footware is recommended when working outdoors.
• Repair or replace damaged cords.
• Do not operate tool in presence of flammable
liquids or gases.
• Do not put fingers, objects or tools between guard
and pad holder while machine is running. Always
start and stop polisher against car surface.
Otherwise the bonnet could be thrown from the
pad.
Keep children at a safe distance from the work
area.
Avoid accidental starting. Keep fingers away from
switch when carrying plugged-in polisher.
Disconnect tool when not in use or when servicing
with replacement parts.
Always wear eye protection and proper clothing
(not loose or bulky). Don't wear any loose jewelry.
Don't overreach. Keep proper footing and balance
at all times.
• Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do
not use tool while tired or under the influence of
drugs, alcohol, or medication.
• Maintain tool with care. Keep handle dry, clean
and free from oil and grease. Ifyour polisher needs
repair, use only identical replacement parts
illustrated and listed on page 7 or contact your
local Sears store or Service Center.
• Don't abuse the cord. Never carry the tool by its
cord or yank it to disconnect it from the receptacle.
Keep cord from heat, oil and sharp edges. Inspect
cord periodically and if damaged contact your local
Sears store or Service Center. See replacement
parts on page 7.
• When not in use keep tool locked up (or high and
dry), and out of the reach of children.
• Don't force the tool. Grip the polisher firmly but
without downward pressure. Pressing too hard will
slow down the machine's movement and affect the
quality of the work.
• Do not operate tool if guard is damaged or if the
switch does not turn tool on and off. Replacement
parts are available as shown on page 7 or from
your local Sears store or Service Center.
