This number limits the number of audience who can actually listen to your broad
cast.
2. External Server
This is an advanced level feature which can be used when you connect jetCast wit
h iceCast server or shoutCast server. This feature is useful when you anticipate a larg
e number of audience. If you already have a server, it can be connected with jetCast
or it can be expanded to accommodate a large
Page 19
number of audience. When you click in “Config…” button on Figure 5.8 then Figure
5-9 window for external server will be displayed. Click in “External Server” button to a

computers other than yours. If your computer server has low bandwidth,
you can use other computer which has a large bandwidth to activate
jetserver. This feature is to accommodate large number of audience.
Server: Preference can be selected according to the type of external server.
a. jetCast or icecast server: Only applicable when external server mode is jetCast or
icecast

jetServer. This port must be consistent with external jetServer’s preference. (Refer to
the Chapter for External jetServer)
c. Password: You may create a password to protect the communication with external
computer. (Privacy protection)
(Note) The external servers such as icecast and Shoutcast do not support WMA format.
3. Advanced Configuration
You might need to have basic knowledge of network to understand this advance options.
For the networks set up as private (internal) network with Firewall or Router, normally,
users at internet cannot listen to the broadcast of this internal network.
In this case, you have to set it up as Firewall or port-forwarding options of Router or
D.M.Z, then select the upgrade option of jetCast. Now the broadcast is wide open for
people in outside of network as well.
It appears as below, once you select upgrade option on 5.8 server window.
If you want to use Port-Forwarding, go ahead and select 2
nd
button and input the
Page 21
address and port number what you are going to use in Port-Forwarding
Usually, the address will be the same as Router or Firewall in network and also you can
use the host name, as you can see above.
Use the same port number as you select in Router/Firewall
Normally, the current port number you use and Port-Forwarding is the same number in
most of cases.
Note : You must have select of Firewall/Router to use Port-Forwarding, and for that,
need to refer to the manual of your purchased merchandise.
