Safety

General Safety Instructions

Warning: Readall theinstructions. Failure to adhere to thefollowing instructions may lead to electric shocks, ﬁres and/or serious injury. Theterm “power tools” in thewarning text below refers to your handheld mains operated or battery operated tool. Savethis manual for future reference.

1) Work area

a) Keep thework area clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and poorly lit areas

inviteaccidents.

b) Do not use power tools in explosive environments, e.g. near to ﬂammable liquids,

gases or dust. Powertools generate sparks that can easily ignite dust orfumes.

c) Keep children and other bystanders away from thearea where you are using

thepower tool. Distractions can cause you to lose your concentration and control.

2) Electrical safety

a) The power tool’s plug must ﬁt correctly into thewall socket. Nevermodify

theplug in any way. Neveruse anadaptor together with earthed power tools. Unmodiﬁedplugs and suitable wall sockets decrease therisk of electric shock.

b) Avoid physical contact with earthed objects, such as pipes, radiators, ovens or

refrigerators. Thereis anincreased risk of electrical shock if your body is earthed.

c) Do not expose thepower tool to rain or other wet conditions. Ifwater gets inside

apower tool it increases therisk of electric shock.

d) Do not abuse themains lead. Neveruse thelead to carry thetool or pull theplug

from thewall socket. Keepthelead away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or tangled leads increase therisk of electric shock.

e) When using power tools outdoors, use anextension lead that is suitable for

this purpose. Theuse of anextension lead designed for outdoor use decreases therisk of electric shocks.

f) Iffor some reason you must use apower tool in awet environment, always

connect it to themains via anearth-fault circuit breaker such as anRCD (residualcurrent device). UsinganRCD signiﬁcantly reduces thechances of you receiving anelectric shock.

3) Personal safety

a) Pay attention to what you are doing and use common sense when using power

tools. Neveruse power tools if you are tired or under theinﬂuence of drugs,

alcohol or medication. Onemoment of inattention while using apower tool may result in serious injury.

b) Wear protective clothing. Alwayswear safety glasses. Usingprotective clothing

such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, helmets and ear defenders when needed decreases therisk of injury.

c) Avoid accidental starts. Makesure that thepower switch is set to OFF before

plugging thetool into awall socket. Nevercarry apower tool with your ﬁnger on thetrigger and never connect thepower tool to awall socket when theswitch is set to ON, since it may result in injury.

d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching on thepower tool. Aservice tool

left on amoving part of thepower tool may result in injury.

e) Do not overreach. Makesure you stand steady and well balanced at all times.

Thiswill allow you to have more control in unexpected situations.

f) Wear suitable clothing. Donot wear loose-ﬁtting clothing or jewellery. Keephair,

clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-ﬁtting clothes, jewellery or long hair could become caught in moving parts.

g) If equipment for dust extraction or collecting is available make sure it is connected

and used properly. Usingtechnical aids may decrease dust related hazards.

4) Use and maintenance of power tools

a) Do not force thepower tool. Useapower tool suitable for thework you are about

to perform. Theproper power tool will perform thetask better and safer if used at thecorrect feedrate.

b) Never use thepower tool if thepower switch does not switch thetool on and

off properly. Allpower tools that cannot be controlled by thepower switch are dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Unplug thelead from thewall socket before making any adjustments, changing

accessories or storing thepower tool. Theseprecautions reduce therisk of thepower tool starting unexpectedly.

d) Store power tools that are not being used out of children’s reach. Donot allow

people who are unfamiliar with thetool or its functions to operate thetool. Powertools can be dangerous if they fall into thehands of inexperienced users.

e) Maintaining power tools. Checkfor any incorrect settings, parts that catch,

broken parts or anything else which may cause thepower tool to malfunction. Ifsomething is damaged it must be repaired before use. Manyaccidents are caused by poorly maintained powertools.

f) Keep tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp blades

are less likely to jam and are easier to control.

g) Use thepower tool, accessories and similar according to theinstructions

and in anappropriate way suitable for thetype of power tool used. Also, take into consideration your work environment and thetype of work to be done. Usingthepower tool for apurpose other than that for which it is intended could result in adangerous situation.

5) Service

a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualiﬁed tradesmen, and

only with original spare parts. Thisguarantees that thesafety of thepower tool ismaintained.

Speciﬁc Safety Instructions for High Speed Rotary Tools

General

• The machine must only be operated by persons over theage of 16years.

• This machine must not be used in or around water.

• Always remove theplug from thewall socket before making any adjustments or changing accessories.

Accessories

• Use only those accessories designed to be used with themachine.

• Always follow themanufacturer’s instructions when attaching accessories.

• Use only those accessories rated at speeds higher than thehighest rated speed of themachine.

• Do not use accessories that are damaged, deformed or that vibrate.

• Handle and store grinding/cutting discs carefully so that they don’t splinter orsplit.

• The accessories must not be exposed to blows, impacts or grease.

• Never use grinding discs with diameters greater than 32 mm (1 ¼″).

• Never use drill bits with diameters greater than 32 mm (1 ¼″).

• Never use theedge of acutting disc for grinding; it must not be subjected to lateralforce.

• Never use reducing rings or adaptors to attach grinding/cutting discs with largebores.

Before use

• Always make sure that themains supply voltage is compatible with themachine’s rated voltage.

• Do not work with materials containing asbestos.

• Tie or clamp theworkpiece down if it is not held in place by its own weight.

• Use fully-rolled out extension leads with at least a16 A rating.

• Safety glasses, gloves, ear protectors, face masks and safety shoes should all be worn. Anapron should also be worn if necessary.

• Wear aface mask when working with material producing toxic dust. Checkthemake-up of thematerial before starting work.

• Make sure that thechuck is compatible with theshank of theaccessory.

• Make sure that thepower switch is set to OFF before themachine is plugged into thewall socket.

During use

• Keep themains lead away from rotating parts; trail thelead behind and away from themachine.

• Do not use themachine if themains lead is damaged; have thelead replaced by aqualiﬁed electrician.

• Never engage thespindle lock while thetool is rotating. Damagecaused by incorrect handling of themachine is not covered by theguarantee.

• Keep hands away from rotating parts and accessories.

• The grinding of metal will produce sparks. Bystanders and ﬂammable material should therefore be kept away from theworking area.

• Always keep themotor’s ventilation openings free of dust and debris.

• If anelectrical or mechanical fault arises, themachine must be switched off and unplugged immediately.

After use

• The accessory will continue to rotate for ashort while after themachine has been switched off.

• Before putting themachine down, make sure that themotor is switched off and that all parts have stopped moving.

• Never stop thetool rotating by applying aload to it after themachine has been turned off.

Operation

Setting the speed

1. Setthespeed using the[ + ] and [ – ] buttons (6). Thedisplay shows 1/1000 of theactual speed, e.g “08” will be shown on thedisplay when theactual speed of rotation is set to 8000rpm.

2. Turnthegrinder on using theon/off switch (7). The speed can be adjusted when themachine is running.

3. Switchthemachine off using theon/offswitch.

Attaching accessories

Warning: Turnthegrinder off and unplug it before attaching any accessories.

1. Pressin thespindle lock button (3) and undo thecollet chuck (1).

2. Insertanaccessory into thechuck and then

tighten thechuck. Thecollet (10) might need to be changed depending on theshank diameter of theaccessory. Twocollets are supplied: 2.4 mm and 3.2mm.

Attaching ﬂexible drive shaft

Warning: Turnthegrinder off and unplug it before attaching any accessories.

1. Unscrew thenose collar (2). Pullthedrive wire (11) ashort way out of theﬂexible drive shaft (9) and grip theend of it in the3.2 mm collet chuck (1).

2. Screwtheﬂexible shaft to thethread on themachine where thenose collar was.

3. Locktheﬂexible drive shaft by inserting thespindle lock pin (12) into thehole on thenose.

4. Undotheﬂexible drive shaft’s collet chuck (13) and insert thedesired accessory before tightening itagain.

Care and maintenance

• Always keep themotor’s ventilation openings free of dust and debris.

• Clean themachine as needed using alightly moistened cloth and mild detergent ifnecessary.

• Avoid using solvents and abrasive cleaning agents.

1) Arbetsutrymmet

a) Håll arbetsutrymmet rent och väl upplyst. Belamrade och mörka utrymmen

inbjuder till olyckor.

b) Använd inte elektriska handverktyg iexplosiva miljöer, som inärheten av

lättantändliga vätskor, gaser eller damm. Elektriska handverktyg genererar gnistor som kan antända damm ellerångor.

c) Håll undan barn och åskådare medan du använder det elektriska handverktyget.

Störningsmoment kan göra att du tappar kontrollen.

2) Elektrisk säkerhet

a) Det elektriska handverktygets stickpropp måste passa ivägguttaget. Modiﬁera

aldrig stickproppen på något vis. Användaldrig adapter tillsammans med jordade elektriska handverktyg. Omodiﬁerade stickproppar och passande vägguttag minskar risken för elektrisk stöt.

b) Undvik kroppskontakt med jordade föremål, som rör, element, köksspis eller

c) Utsätt inte det elektriska handverktyget för regn eller våta förhållanden. Omvatten

3) Personlig säkerhet

a) Var uppmärksam på vad du gör och använd sunt förnuft när du använder

ettelektriskt handverktyg. Användinte ettelektriskt handverktyg om du är trött eller påverkad av droger, alkohol eller medicinering. Ettögonblicks ouppmärksamhet när du använder ettelektriskt handverktyg kan resultera iallvarlig personskada.

Ettkvarglömt serviceverktyg på enroterande del av det elektriska handverktyget kan resultera ipersonskada.

e) Sträck dig inte för långt. Setill att du står stadigt med god balans hela tiden.

Dettamöjliggör bättre kontroll ioväntade situationer.

f) Bär lämplig klädsel. Bärinte löst sittande kläder eller smycken. Hållhår, kläder och

handskar undan från rörliga delar. Lösakläder, smycken eller långt hår kan fastna irörliga delar.

g) Om utrustning för utsugning och uppsamling av damm ﬁnns tillgänglig, se till att

denna är ansluten och används ordentligt. Användning av dessa hjälpmedel kan minska dammrelaterade faror.

4) Användning och underhåll av det elektriska handverktyget

d) Förvara elektriska handverktyg som inte används utom räckhåll för barn och
