3. De CSATAi23U aansluiten
NB:
Zie voor aansluitvoorbeelden de ‘Appendix’ aan het einde van de gebruiksaanwijzing.
A. Zet uw computer aan.
B. CSATAi23U op uw opslagapparaat aansluiten:
• Voor 2,5” IDE apparaten:
Gebruik de 2,5” IDE aansluiting (1)
• Voor 3,5” en 5,25" IDE apparaten:
Gebruik de 3,5” IDE aansluiting (2)
• Voor 2,5", 3,5” en 5,25” SATA apparaten:
Gebruik de SATA aansluiting (3)
NB: Als u een 5,25” IDE apparaat aansluit, of zowel een IDE als een SATA apparaat, moet u voor
het IDE apparaat de IDE verlengkabel gebruiken. Zonder de verlengkabel kunt u beide
apparaten niet correct aansluiten.
NB: Alleen de SATA en de 3,5” IDE aansluiting kunnen tegelijk worden gebruikt! Combinatie van
een 2,5” IDE met een 3,5” IDE apparaat, of van een 2,5” IDE met een 3,5” SATA apparaat,
wordt niet
ondersteund!
C. Netvoeding aansluiten op de CSATAi23U:
• Voor SATA apparaten en 2,5” IDE apparaten: sluit de netvoeding rechtstreeks aan op de
CSATAi23U.
• Voor 3,5” en 5,25" IDE apparaten: gebruik de splitterkabel om zowel de CSATAi23U als het IDE
apparaat van stroom te voorzien.
D. Bepaal welke interfacekabel u wilt gebruiken:
eSATA aansluiten:
• Sluit de eSATA kabel aan tussen de eSATA aansluiting van de CSATAi23U en een vrije eSATA
aansluiting van uw computer.
NB: Als u een op de CSATAi23U aangesloten IDE apparaat gebruikt, kunt u de eSATA aansluiting
niet gebruiken.
USB aansluiten:
• Doe de mini-USB connector van de meegeleverde mini-USB kabel in de mini-USB aansluiting van
de CSATAi23U.
• Doe de USB connector van de mini-USB kabel in een vrije USB poort van uw computer.
E. Zet de netvoeding aan met de aan/uitschakelaar in het netsnoer.
Windows herkent en installeert de CSATAi23U automatisch.
NB:
Als uw computer geen ‘hot-swap’ ondersteunt voor de eSATA poort, moet u de computer
opnieuw opstarten nadat u de CSATAi23U via eSATA op uw computer heeft aangesloten.
NB: Als u een nieuwe ongebruikte harddisk aansluit, verschijnt hij niet onder ‘Deze computer’. U
moet eerst een partitie aanmaken op de harddisk, waarna hij zichtbaar wordt. Zie ‘Partition
Creation Manual’ (Handleiding partities maken) op de cd voor instructies.

4. Reservekopie maken met een druk op de knop
De CSATAi23U heeft aan de bovenkant een “One Touch Backup” knop. Met deze knop kunt u automatisch
een reservekopie maken van uw documenten, foto's, muziek, etc.
4.1 Back-upsoftware voor reservekopieën installeren
A. Doe de meegeleverde cd in het cd-station van uw computer. Het venster “Automatisch afspelen”
wordt op uw scherm weergegeven. Klik op “Run Autorun.exe” (Autorun.exe uitvoeren) om het
autorunmenu te starten.
NB: Als het venster “Automatisch afspelen” niet verschijnt, kunt u het autorunmenu starten
door met de Windows Verkenner naar “Deze computer” te gaan en te dubbelklikken op het
schijfstation waar de cd in zit.
B. Selecteer in het autorunmenu de keuze ‘Install Backup Software’ (Back-upsoftware installeren).
NB: Als u een ‘Gebruikers Account Beheer’ (User Account Control) melding krijgt, moet u
deze accepteren door op ‘Ja’ te klikken.
C. De installatiewizard verschijnt. Selecteer ‘Next’ (Volgende) om door te gaan.
D. Klik op ‘Install’ (Installeren) om de back-upsoftware op uw computer te installeren.
E. Klik na afloop van de installatie op ‘Finish’ (Voltooien) om de installatiewizard te sluiten.
Nadat de installatiewizard is afgesloten, wordt de software automatisch gestart. De software wordt
voortaan ook automatisch gestart als u uw computer opstart.

4.2 Back-upsoftware instellen
Voordat u de back-upknop kunt gebruiken, moet u mappen selecteren waarvan u een back-up wilt maken.
A. Open de back-upsoftware door in het Windows systeemvak of op het bureaublad op het bijbehorende
pictogram te dubbelklikken, of door het Startmenu van Windows te gebruiken (‘Start’ -> ‘Alle
programma's’ -> ‘Back-up Manager’ -> ‘Back-up Manager’).
Het hoofdvenster van de software wordt getoond.
B. Selecteer links in de verkenner van de back-upsoftware de mappen waarvan u reservekopieën wilt
maken. Iedere door u geselecteerde map krijgt een rode ‘v’ markering.
C. Selecteer rechts in de verkenner van de back-upsoftware het doelstation waar de reservekopieën
moeten komen. Wanneer een doelstation is geselecteerd, wordt dit gemarkeerd met een groene
pijl.
NB:
U kunt alleen een doelstation selecteren dat op de CSATAi23U is aangesloten.

Wanneer u de te kopiëren mappen en het doelstation heeft geselecteerd, ziet het hoofdvenster van de
software er ongeveer uit zoals het onderstaande voorbeeld:
U kunt het hoofdvenster nu sluiten door op de ‘x’ markering in de rechter bovenhoek te klikken, of
meteen een reservekopie maken door op de ‘Start Backup’ knop rechtsonder in het venster te klikken.
Als u het venster sluit, blijft de software in de achtergrond actief, zoals te zien aan het bijbehorende
pictogram in het Windows systeemvak:

4.3 Een back-up starten
Als de back-upsoftware is geconfigureerd, zoals uitgelegd in hoofdstuk 4.2, kunt u een reservekopie maken
met de back-upknop van de CSATAi23U, of door in het hoofdvenster van de software op de ‘Start Backup’
knop te klikken.
Als de knop van de CSATAi23U wordt ingedrukt, of op de knop van de software wordt geklikt, begint de
back-upsoftware de bestanden naar de back-uplocatie te kopiëren, zoals gedefinieerd in hoofdstuk 4.2.
Tijdens dit kopieerproces ziet u een voortgangsvenster op uw scherm:
Na afloop van de back-up verschijnt een samenvattend rapport op uw scherm:
NB:
Het is mogelijk dat het rapport bij ‘Failure’ (niet gelukt) een aantal bestanden aangeeft. Het
gaat hierbij meestal om bestanden die momenteel in gebruik zijn door andere programma's. Om
ook deze bestanden te kunnen kopiëren, moet u ervoor zorgen dat er geen andere applicaties
gestart zijn die toegang hebben tot de mappen die u in hoofdstuk 4.2 heeft geselecteerd
voordat u opnieuw op de back-upknop drukt.
Klik op ‘OK’ of ‘Close’ om de melding te sluiten.
NB:
Klik voor nadere informatie over de back-upsoftware op de knop ‘User Guide’
(Gebruiksaanwijzing) in het hoofdvenster van de software.

3. Connecting the CSATAi23U
Note:
For connection examples, see the ‘Appendix’ at the end of the manual.
A. Turn on your computer.
B. Connect the CSATAi23U to your storage device:
• For 2.5” IDE Devices:
Use the 2.5” IDE Connector (1)
• For 3.5” & 5.25” IDE Devices:
Use the 3.5” IDE Connector (2)
• For 2.5”, 3.5” or 5.25” SATA Devices:
Use the SATA Connector (3)
Note: When connecting a 5.25” IDE device or an IDE and SATA device together, use the IDE
extension cable for the IDE device. Without the extension cable you cannot connect both
devices correctly.
Note: Only the SATA and 3.5” IDE connection can be used at the same time! Connecting a 2.5”
IDE & 3.5” IDE device, or 2.5” IDE & 3.5” SATA device at the same time is not
supported!
C. Connect the Power Supply to the CSATAi23U:
• For SATA Devices and 2.5” IDE devices: Connect the Power Supply directly to the CSATAi23U.
• For 3.5” & 5.25” IDE devices: Use the Power Splitter to provide power to the CSATAi23U and the
IDE device.
D. Decide which interface cable you will use:
eSATA connection:
• Connect the eSATA cable to the eSATA port of the CSATAi23U and to a free eSATA port on your
computer.
Note: If you are using an IDE device with the CSATAi23U, you cannot use the eSATA connection.
USB connection:
• Connect the mini-USB connector of the included mini-USB cable to the mini-USB port of the
CSATAi23U.
• Connect the USB connector of the mini-USB cable to a free USB port on your computer.
E. Turn on the Power Supply with the power switch in the cable.
Windows will automatically detect the CSATAi23U and install it.
Note:
If your computer does not support ‘hot-swap’ on the eSATA port, you need to reboot your
computer after you have connected the CSATAi23U with eSATA to your computer.
Note: If you connect a new unused HDD, it does not appear in ‘My Computer’. You need to create a
partition on the HDD first before it will be visible. View the ‘Partition Creation Manual’ on the
CD-ROM for instructions.

4. One Touch Backup
The CSATAi23U has a “One Touch Backup” button on top of the device. With this button you can
automatically make a backup of your documents, pictures, music, etc.
4.1 Installation of the backup software
A. Insert the CD-ROM in the optical drive of your computer. The AutoPlay option will be shown
automatically. Click on “Run Autorun.exe” to start the autorun menu.
Note: If the AutoPlay option is not shown, you can start the autorun menu by browsing to
“Computer” and double clicking on your optical drive.
B. Select the option ‘Install Backup Software’ from the autorun menu.
Note: You might get a ‘User Account Control’ warning message, which you will need to accept by
clicking on ‘Yes’.
C. The installation wizard will appear. Select ‘Next’ to proceed.
D. Click on ‘Install’ to install the backup software on your computer.
E. When the installation is finished, click on ‘Finish’ to close the installation wizard.
When the installation wizard is closed, the software is started automatically. The software will also start
automatically when you restart your computer.

4.2 Configuring your backup
Before you can use the backup button, you need to select the folders to backup.
A. Open the backup software window by double-clicking on the tray icon, the desktop icon or the entry
in the ‘Start’ menu (‘Start’ -> ‘All Programs’ -> ‘Backup Manager’ -> ‘Backup Manager’).
The main window of the software will be shown.
B. Select the folders you want to backup on the left explorer of the backup software. Each folder you
select will be indicated with a red ‘v’ mark.
C. Select the destination drive for your backup on the right explorer of the backup software. When a
destination is selected, it is marked with a green arrow.
Note:
You can only select a drive connected to the CSATAi23U as destination drive.

When you have selected the folders you want to backup and the destination drive, the main window of the
software will look like the sample below:
You can now close the window by clicking the ‘X’ mark on the upper right corner of the main software
window, or initiate a backup by clicking the ‘Start Backup’ button on the lower right corner.
When you close the window, the software will keep running in the background, indicated by the tray icon
in the lower right corner of your screen:

The backup process will be explained in chapter 4.3.

4.3 Starting a backup
When a backup is configured in chapter 4.2, you can initiate the backup with the backup button on the
CSATAi23U, or with the button ‘Start Backup’ in the main window of the software.
When the button on the CSATAi23U or in the main window of the software is pressed, the backup software
will start to copy the files to your backup location, as defined in chapter 4.2.
During this copy process, a progress popup will be shown on your screen:
When the backup is finished, a backup summary report is shown on your screen:
Note:
It is possible that the report is showing ‘Failure’ with an amount of files. These files are in most
cases files which are currently in use by other programs. To backup these files, make sure no
other applications are running which have access to the selected folders in chapter 4.2 before
you press the backup button again.
Click ‘OK’ to close the message.
Note:
For more detailed information about the backup software, click the ‘User Guide’ button in the
main window of the software.

3. Conexión del CSATAi23U
Nota:
Encontrará ejemplos de conexiones en el Apéndice al final de este manual.
A. Encienda el ordenador.
B. Conecte el CSATAi23U a su dispositivo de almacenamiento:
• Para dispositivos IDE de 2,5”:
Utilice el conector IDE de 2,5” (1)
• Para dispositivos IDE de 3,5” y 5,25”:
Utilice el conector IDE de 3,5” (2)
• Para dispositivos SATA de 2,5”, 3,5” ó 5,25”
Utilice el conector SATA (3)
Nota: Cuando deba conectar un dispositivo IDE de 5,25", o un dispositivo IDE y SATA al mismo
tiempo, utilice el cable de extensión IDE para el dispositivo IDE. Sin el cable de extensión
no podrá conectar ambos dispositivos correctamente.
Nota: Al mismo tiempo sólo se pueden utilizar las conexiones SATA e IDE 3,5”. No es posible
conectar simultáneamente dispositivos IDE 2,5” e IDE 3,5”, ni dispositivos IDE 2,5” y SATA
3,5”.
C. Conecte el CSATAi23U a la fuente de alimentación:
• Si utiliza dispositivos IDE de 2,5” o SATA, conecte la fuente de alimentación directamente al
CSATAi23U.
• Si utiliza dispositivos IDE de 3,5” ó 5,25”, utilice el separador de corriente para la alimentación
del CSATAi23U y del dispositivo IDE.
D. Decida qué tipo de conexión utilizará:
Conexión eSATA:
• Conecte el cable eSATA al puerto eSATA del CSATAi23U y a un puerto eSATA libre de su
ordenador.
Nota: Si está utilizando un dispositivo IDE con el CSATAi23U, no podrá utilizar la conexión eSATA.
Conexión USB:
• Conecte el conector mini-USB del cable mini-USB incluido al puerto mini-USB del CSATAi23U.
• Conecte el conector USB del cable mini-USB a un puerto USB disponible de su ordenador.
E. Encienda la fuente de alimentación mediante el interruptor del cable.
Windows detectará e instalará automáticamente el CSATAi23U.
Nota:
Si su ordenador no tiene compatibilidad con “hot-swap” (sustitución en caliente) en el puerto
eSATA, cuando haya conectado el CSATAi23U a su ordenador a través de conexión eSATA deberá
reiniciar el ordenador.
Nota: Cuando conecte un disco duro nuevo, éste no aparecerá todavía en “Mi PC”. Para que aparezca
en la lista de dispositivos, primero deberá crear una partición en el disco duro. En el “Partition
Creation Manual” (Manual de creación de particiones) del CR-ROM encontrará las instrucciones
para hacerlo.

4. Botón “One Touch Backup” de copias de seguridad
El CSATAi23U dispone de un botón “One Touch Backup” en su parte superior para realizar copias de
seguridad. Con este botón podrá realizar automáticamente una copia de seguridad de sus documentos,
imágenes, música, etc.
4.1 Instalación del software de copia de seguridad
A. Introduzca el CD-ROM en la unidad de CD-ROM. Automáticamente aparecerá el cuadro de diálogo de
reproducción automática (AutoPlay). Haga clic en “Run Autorun.exe” (Ejecutar autorun.exe) para
abrir el menú autoejecutable.
Nota: Si no aparece el cuadro de diálogo de reproducción automática, puede abrir el menú
autoejecutable yendo a "Mi PC” y haciendo doble clic en la unidad de CD-ROM.
B. En el menú autoejecutable, seleccione la opción “Install Backup Software” (Instalar software de
copia de seguridad).
Nota: Puede que aparezca un mensaje de aviso del control de cuentas de usuario, en el que
deberá hacer clic en “Yes” (Sí) para continuar.
C. A continuación aparecerá el asistente de instalación. Haga clic en “Next” (Siguiente) para
continuar.
D. Haga clic en “Install” para instalar el software de copia de seguridad en su ordenador.
E. Cuando la instalación haya finalizado, haga clic en “Finish” (Finalizar) para salir del asistente de
instalación.

Cuando cierre el asistente de instalación, el software se iniciará automáticamente. El software también se
iniciará automáticamente si reinicia su ordenador.
4.2 Configurar la realización de copias de seguridad
Antes de poder utilizar el botón de copia de seguridad, es necesario que seleccione las carpetas de las que
desea hacer copia.
A. Abra la ventana del software haciendo doble clic en el icono de la bandeja, en el icono de acceso
directo del escritorio o en la entrada del programa en el menú Inicio (Inicio -> Todos los programas
-> Backup Manager -> Backup Manager).
A continuación, aparecerá la ventana principal del software.
B. Seleccione, en la ventana de exploración de la izquierda, las carpetas de las que desea hacer copia
de seguridad. Cada carpeta que seleccione se marcará con una marca en “v” roja.

C. Seleccione, en la ventana de exploración de la derecha, la unidad de destino de la copia de
seguridad. Una vez seleccionada una ubicación de destino, ésta se marcará con una flecha verde.
Nota:
Sólo puede seleccionar una unidad conectada al CSATAi23U como unidad de destino.
Una vez haya seleccionado las carpetas de las que desea hacer copia de seguridad y la unidad de destino,
la ventana principal del software presentará un aspecto parecido al que se muestra a continuación:
Ahora puede cerrar la ventana haciendo clic en la “x” de la esquina superior derecha de la ventana, o
iniciar una copia de seguridad haciendo clic en el botón “Start Backup” (Iniciar copia de seguridad)
situado en la parte inferior derecha.
Cuando cierre la ventana, el software seguirá ejecutándose en segundo plano, tal como indicará el icono
de la bandeja en la esquina inferior derecha de su pantalla:
