The NID-01VTJ has four connections:
Modem – customer’s xDSL modem  Line – the incoming line  Phone - customer’s telephone  Test Jack – verify connection to central office
If the wires have been previously used, cut-off approximately ½” from the end, before inserting into the IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) on the NID-01VTJ.
Making IDC connections: Push each IDC away from you, until it swings open and stops.
Carefully observe the proper orientation of the TipRing leads. Do not remove the insulation from the wire and maintain the wire twist. Insert each pair of wires into the appropriate IDC about ½”.
Press the IDC closed, until the IDC latches lock into place. It will take some force to close the IDC, with the thicker wire gauges taking more effort.
