The ComNet PIM1 is a low-cost industrial passive power over Ethernet (PoE)
midspan injection module that injects a passive voltage of 12 to 48 VDC at up to
0.625 amperes to the unused pairs of any UTP or STP CAT-3, CAT-4, or CAT-5
network cable. Operating power and 10/100TX Ethernet data are easily combined
on one cable, eliminating the need to install additional power outlets and electrical
cabling. Housed in a compact, rugged, light-weight package, the unit is powered
by a customer furnished power supply. The PIM1 provides passive power at the
same voltage level as the input power supply and can be used to power any devices
that do not require IEEE 802.3af/at negotiation such as many legacy PoE devices.
Transmission distances of up to 330 feet (100 meters) are supported, and this injector
supplies operating power for devices drawing a maximum of 30 watts. The PIM1 is a
true plug-and-play product requiring no user configuration or other set-up.
