Thank you for purchasing NetWave® from ComNet. This quick start guide is designed to
walk you through installation.
This guide applies to the following models:
NWKED: Analog Video Encoder/Decoder Kit for use with NetWave Wireless Ethernet
See Figures 1 through 4 for Installation instructions.

Step 1.
Unpack the hardware from the box. Instructions for the Decoder and the Encoder are the same.
Step 2.
A. Connect the Power Adapter with the Terminal Block
B. Connect the Terminal Block to the power port on the device
Step 3.
Connect the video source to BNC Port on the Encoder.
Press and twist the BNC connector to ensure a secure fit.
Connect the Coaxial cable from the receiver to the composite port
on the Decoder. Press and twist the BNC connector to ensure a
secure fit.
Step 4.
A. Connect one end of an RJ-45 Ethernet cable to the OUT port
of the Power Injection Module (PIM) and the other end to LAN
of the access point.
Maximum length of the RJ-45 CAT5 cable is 100 meters.
B. Connect the RJ-45 Ethernet cable attached to the PIM to the
Encoder/Decoder.
C. Connect the power adaptor to the main electrical supply and

the power plug into the socket of the PIM.
PoE power input: Passive PoE (range 12 to 24 VDC)
D. Connect the RJ-45 cable from Port 2 on the access point to
an external PoE device, typically a camera as shown.
E. A Drip Loop is recommended as additional precaution
against moisture.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Shielded outdoor CAT 5 or better should be used for all out of plant Ethernet connection and should be properly grounded
through the PoE AC ground. Industrial grade shielded Ethernet cable is recommended to help prevent ESD damage commonly
experienced with outdoor installations. Visit www.comnet.net/comnet-products/cables
CONFIGURING NETWAVE
1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the port labelled as Ethernet on the Encoder or Decoder to either a laptop or a PC LAN port.
2. Connect the terminal block the provided power supply and connect to the Encoder/Decoder. Connect the power supply to a
power outlet. You should notice the red PWD LED illuminate.
3. Set the IP address of the laptop being used to configure Netwave to static and the subnet to 192.168.10.x/24 subnet.
4. Point the browser to the Encoder/Decoder IP address.
The default addresses are:
Decoder: 192.168.10.200
Encoder: 192.168.10.201
NOTE: Internet Explorer 11 in Compatibility mode is highly recommended.
5. A login prompt will pop up. Enter:
ID: admin
Password: 123456
6. To configure the Decoder login then Select Connection Settings and set the desired settings.
• Select Apply Settings
• Select Save
• Select Reboot to store settings.
7. To configure the Encoder login then Select the Setup Tab and make the necessary changes.
• Select Apply Settings
• Select Save
• Select Reboot to store settings.

NOTE: A Reset to defaults (performed on the ADMIN page) will erase all user configurations.
