CALIBRATION, CERTIFICATION AND SERVICE
Certification
Comark can provide certificates of calibration for its whole
product range, to suit ISO 9000 and other quality assurance
procedures, food hygiene regulations, HACCPs and
environmental regulations. Comark certificates are produced by
independent quality controlled processes which compare product
performance against agreed National Standards. For peace of
mind and best practice Comark recommend annual certification/
recalibration.
Two levels of certification are available for infra-red temperature
and non temperature instruments, excluding humidity:- UKAS
certificates via an external accredited laboratory and NPL
traceable certificates from the Comark calibration laboratory.
Three levels of certification are available for contact temperature
and humidity products and these are detailed here:
a) UKAS Temperature Certification
The Comark UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation
Service) accredited temperature calibration laboratory is
one of the finest in the UK. Comark UKAS certificates can
offer the lowest uncertainty of 0.01°C and provide
independent proof of correct calibration using equipment
and procedures audited by UKAS inspectors. The
equipment used is fully traceable to the National Physical
Laboratory.
b) UKAS Humidity Certification
In addition to the Comark temperature laboratory, the
humidity laboratory continues the tradition of high
accuracy certification and a wide range (25% to 90%RH)
with uncertainties of 2.8% of reading. This range also
includes Dew point measurements.
No. 0451

2
c) NPL Traceable Certification
Comark NPL certificates are traceable to the National
Physical Laboratory and can offer uncertainty as low as
0.3°C.
Conformance
Certificates of conformance can be supplied for new, serviced and
recalibrated instruments. These confirm that instruments are
within their original manufactured specification.
Service/Repairs
Regular servicing and any required repairs, under warranty or
after, are available from the Comark Service Department.
For more information on all Comark certification, calibration and
service facilities please call Comark Customer Support or contact
your local distributor.
Note
The last two digits of the instrument serial number indicate the
year of manufacture. Eg. 12345/21-03 = 2003.

WARNING
IN ORDER NOT TO INFRINGE THE I.S. CERTIFICATION
OF THIS PRODUCT, THE FOLLOWING MUST BE
OBSERVED:
1. Battery type Duracell MN1604 must only be used.
2. Battery replacement must only take place in a nonhazardous area.
3. Battery connector must only be replaced with the
specified Comark type.
4. No modifications or repairs to be carried out except
by an authorised Comark Service Representative.
C9006IS is a C9006X Series Instrument.
A full description of the operation of the modes of the C9006IS is
given below. Please read it carefully and if you have any further
queries contact our Sales Desk.
HOW TO USE THE COMARK C9006IS THERMOMETER
Firmly press each button once. The display will show any changes
you have made.
ON/OFF
Press to turn ON. (Keep pressed if you want to see all the
display symbols).
Note: The instrument performs a self-test for up to 4
seconds when switched on. Press this button again to turn
the instrument OFF.

4
Note: A probe must be inserted before you can operate all
the functions. If a probe is not inserted the display
appears as follows:
This is the normal indication for open circuit or broken
probe and out of range indication.
SCL
SCALE: Selects °C, °F or °A. The chosed setting is shown
on display. Press the button to scroll around the options.
MTL
MATERIAL: Selects thermocouple material.
Options are K, N, T, J, R or S. Press button to scroll
around the options.
Note: Take care to ensure that the instrument is set for
the correct thermocouple material otherwise
measurement errors will result. Call the Customer
Support Dept if you need advice in choosing the best
material for your application.
HOLD
Freezes the display with the last measured value. ‘HOLD’
is shown on the display. Press button again to release this
function.
Note: Having selected HOLD, it is still possible to scroll
the held values of MAX, MIN and ACTUAL temperatures,
and to redisplay the temperature scale for any of these.
MAX/MIN
This button scrolls the display of MAXIMUM, MINIMUM
and ACTUAL temperatures.
RESET
RESET of MAXIMUM and MINIMUM to ACTUAL value.
This function occurs automatically at switch-on.
At the instant of RESET the horizontal bar above the
temperature scale symbol becomes visible for one second.
RESET copies to actual value into the Maximum and
Minimum stores, it does not alter the selection for display.

AUTO-SWITCH OFF
The instrument can be configured to either automatically
switch off three minutes after the last button operation or
to remain permanently on until manually switched off.
This mode is indicated on the display by the horizontal bar
above the least significant (right side) digit. When the bar
is visible the instrument will auto power down.
To change from one mode option to the other, switch the
instrument OFF, then with the HOLD button depressed
switch the instrument ON again.
BAT BATTERY LOW:
This symbol appears on the display once the battery
voltage reaches a preset level on load. Please replace your
battery as soon as possible after seeing this symbol. To
replace the battery unscrew the two screws at the base of
the instrument. Take care not to over tighten them when
re-fitting the cover.
WARNING: BATTERY REPLACEMENT MUST
ONLY TAKE PLACE IN A NON-HAZARDOUS
AREA
SELECTION OF PROBES
Thermocouples are considered as “Simple Apparatus” and
as such may be used in intrinsically safe systems without
certification.
Whilst this gives the flexibility for the user to choose a
wide range of probes care must still be taken to ensure
that the materials from which temperature probes are
constructed are suitable for use in the particular
environment. Please contact Comark for details.
WARNING: Under no circumstances must any
probe or sensor be allowed to come into contact with
live electrical power conductors with voltages in
excess of 30V RMS or 42.4V peak or 60V DC.

6
If you intend to use your thermometer to check other
equipment or processes as part of an ISO9000 procedure
or to check compliance with other codes of practice, you
may require either UKAS or National Standards
certification. COMARK can offer calibration to both
standards. Please contact our UKAS accredited laboratory
for further details.
