About Optical Discs
Disc Requirements
This DVD player supports playback of the following media types and
discs.

This unit can play back optical discs or memory cards that contain digital
media les, MPEG-, or JPEG les. Discs and media types not listed

About Optical Discs
Some of the DVD features enabled by this player depend on how
the DVD was produced. Some features may not be enabled if the
DVD Region Codes
DVD discs and DVD players are manufactured under a compulsory
worldwide agreement, the DVD Regional Code System. DVD players
will only operate with DVD discs encoded with the same corresponding
Regional Code.

need proper handling.

About Optical Discs
Handling a Disc
Hold a DVD/CD by its edges. Avoid touching the recorded side of the
disc. To remove a DVD/CD from its storage case, press down on the
center retention mechanism of the case and lift the disc out.
Do not bend or press discs.
Do not subject discs to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high
humidity, or high temperatures.
To reduce the risk of scratches, always put discs back in their case
after use. Store discs vertically in a cabinet.
Do not place stickers or labels on either side of a disc.
Cleaning a Disc
Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe o any ngerprints and dusts from the playing surface of the disc. Wipe in a straight line radially from the center to
the outside edge of the disc. Small dust particles and light stains will not
aect playback quality.
Never use chemicals such as record sprays, anti-static sprays,
benzene, or thinners to clean a disc. Doing so will damage the
surface of the disc permanently.

Remote Control
The remote control transmits a directional infrared beam. Be sure to aim
the remote control directly at the infrared remote sensor during operation. The sensor may not be able to receive signals properly if the sensor
is covered, if there is a large object between the remote control and the
sensor, or if it is exposed to direct sunlight or a strong articial light (e.g.,
uorescent or strobe lights). If possible, change the position of the light
source or reposition the unit to avoid direct lighting.
To use the remote, point it at the remote sensor of the player. Operate
the remote within feet of the sensor and at an angle of ± degrees.
Battery Installation
Remove the battery compartment cover located on the rear of the 1.
remote control.
Insert batteries, making sure to match their polarities (+/-) to the 2.
markings on the inside of the compartment.
Replace the cover.3.
Batteries in the remote will last for approximately 1 year. Replace
the batteries if the remote control does not work. Always dispose
of batteries according to your local municipal regulations.
The batteries used in the remote control may present a re or
chemical burn if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, incinerate, or heat the battery (~212°F). Do not mix old with new
batteries, or dierent types of batteries. Remove the batteries
from the remote if it will not be used for a long period of time.
Keep batteries away from children.

Choose the best available video connection. Avoid using more than
one connection at the same time to prevent signal interference. The
video settings of the unit must match the video connection used. Press
V-MODE on the remote to change the video setting, or change the
video settings in the System Setup menu (please refer to the System

Using the supplied AV cable:
Connect one end of the yellow cable to the yellow Video Out jack of 1.

You must set the unit’s video output to either YUV or P-YUV when
using the component video output. Use YUV for 480i output; use
P-YUV for 480p output. See the Setup section of this manual for
more information.
You may also press <V-MODE> on the remote until you see
“YUV” or “P-YUV” on the TV screen to set the unit to the component video mode.
The maximum output resolution for the component video con-
nection is 480p.
Audio System
Choose the best available audio connection. Avoid using more than one
connection at the same time to prevent signal interference. The audio
settings of the unit must match the audio connection used. Change the
audio settings in the System Setup menu (please refer to the System
Setup section of this manual for more information).

This unit has an integrated amplier. Connect the supplied speakers to
enjoy your movies with .-channel surround sound!
If necessary, strip 3/8” (10 mm) of insulation from each end of the 1.
speaker wire.
While pressing the terminal levers of each speaker, insert the bare 2.
wire into the hole, then release the lever to secure the connection.
While pressing the speaker terminal levers of the unit, insert the bare 3.
wire into the hole, then release the lever to secure the connection.
The speaker wire and terminal for each speaker is color-coded for 4.

Coaxial Digital Audio Out (Optional, Best)
For use with a digital decoding external amplier/audio system. Using
an optional coaxial digital audio cable:
Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the black Digital Audio Out 1.

Plug the power cord of this unit into an AC -V /Hz wall outlet,
only. Make all video, speaker, and audio connections before con-
necting the power.

Do not connect the power plug to a power outlet other than that
which is indicated here and on the rating label as this may result
in the risk of re or electric shock.
Do not handle the power plug with wet hands. Doing so may
cause electric shock.
Power Management
If the unit will not be in use for a long period of time, turn the unit o
and unplug it from the AC power supply, and remove the batteries from
the remote control.
Installation
Install the unit on a level, at and rm surface with good ventilation.
Never block the cabinet vents; blocked vents will cause the unit to
overheat and malfunction.
Do not install the unit in a place exposed to heating sources or direct
sunlight.
Do not install the unit in a place exposed to moisture or rain.

Turning the Unit On
Locate the Main Power switch on the rear panel of the unit and set it 1.
to the ON position.
Press <POWER/STANDBY> to turn the player on. 2.
Select the Video Line
Press <V-MODE> on the remote to set the video mode that corre-1.
sponds to the video connection used (e.g., Component or Composite). See the Connections section for details.
Set your TV to display the video line connection that corresponds 2.
to your DVD player (e.g., AV1, AV2, HDMI, Component, S-Video, DVD,
etc.) The DVD output will be displayed on the TV screen when the
proper line has been selected.
Select the Source Mode
For more information about each of the source modes, please refer to
their respective sections in this manual.
Press <SOURCE> on the remote to switch between DVD, TUNER, and
LINE modes.
Select DVD mode to play optical discs (e.g., DVD, CD, or CD+G)
from the disc tray.
Select TUNER to enjoy radio broadcasts.
Select LINE mode to enjoy audio from an external device con-
nected to the LINE IN jacks (optional).
Press <USB> to switch between Memory Card, USB, and DVD modes.

Select Memory Card to play media from memory cards loaded in
the Card Slot (SD).
Select USB to play media from USB ash memory drives loaded
in the USB Port.
Select DVD mode to play optical discs (e.g., DVD, CD, or CD+G)
from the disc tray.
The unit must be placed in DVD mode before the Memory Card
and USB modes can be accessed. Press <SOURCE> to switch to
DVD mode rst, then press <USB> on the remote to change between Memory Card, USB, and DVD/Disc modes.
Load a Disc (or other media)
Press <OPEN/CLOSE> to open the disc tray. Insert a disc with the labelside up. Press <OPEN/CLOSE> again to close the disc tray.
If a single-sided disc is inserted upside-down, the unit will display
“NO DISC” or “BAD DISC”.
To play from media other than a disc, insert a memory card or
USB ash drive, then press <USB> on the remote to change between Memory Card, USB, and DVD/Disc modes.
Basic Playback Instructions
Press <PLAY/PAUSE> to start playback.
Some discs may start playing automatically or display a DVD menu
specic to the disc. If a menu appears, use the <Navigation Keypad> to
select a desired feature or option and then press <ENTER> to conrm.

Play/Pause/Stop
Press <PLAY> to play the disc for the rst time.
Press <PLAY> during playback to pause. Press <PLAY> again to
resume playback.
Press <STOP> during playback to stop the disc (“Pre-Stop”). Press
<PLAY> to resume playback at the time-point at which the disc was
stopped.
Press <STOP> again when the disc is “Pre-Stopped” to stop playback
completely. (When <PLAY> is pressed from this state, the disc will
start playing from the beginning.)
Previous/Next (Skip)
Press <NEXT> to skip to the next track (DVD, CD, etc).
Press <PREV> to return to the previous track (DVD, CD, etc).
Forward/Reverse (Search)
Press <FWD> to fast forward through the current track. Each succes-
sive press of will change the rate of forward playback. Press <PLAY>
to resume normal playback.
Press <REV> to reverse through the current track. Each successive
press of will change the rate of reverse playback. Press <PLAY> to
resume normal playback.
Step
Press <STEP> for frame-by-frame playback. Each successive press of
<STEP> will advance the video one frame. Press <PLAY> to resume
normal playback.
Audio will be muted during fast-forward, fast-reverse, and
stepped playback.

Repeat Playback
Press <REPEAT> to change the repeat playback mode.
Adjusting the Sound
Press <VOL +> to increase the volume level.
Press <VOL –> to decrease the volume level.
Press <MUTE> to turn the volume o completely. Press <MUTE>
again to restore the volume to the previous level.
Press <A-MODE> to change toggle between audio output modes
(.-channel surround and -channel stereo).
Press <CH-LEVEL> to select an audio channel to adjust (e.g., front,
rear, center) and then use the <VOL +>/<VOL –> keys to adjust the
selected level.
Press <TONE> to select BASS or TREBLE and then use the <VOL
+>/<VOL –> keys to adjust the selected tone.
Press <S.EFFECT> to change the sound eects mode. Set the sound
eects mode to o when playing a Dolby .-channel disc to avoid
interference with Dolby Digital decoding.

Load a compatible DVD-video or CD-audio disc into the disc tray. A 2.

Some discs may start playing automatically or display a DVD

Screen Saver
ON: If the image remains motionless on the screen for several min-
utes, (e.g., the disc is paused, stopped etc.,) a screen saver will appear
on the screen. You can press any key or button except <STANDBY>
to wake it up. The unit will go into the standby mode after about
minutes being in the screensaver mode. You can press <STANDBY>
to switch it on.
OFF: Disable the screen saver function.
HDCD (High Denition Compatible Digital)
HDCD (High Denition Compatible Digital) is a patented encode/decode
process for delivering full, rich, detailed sound from HDCD-encoded
CDs. You can set the digital lter to x, x or o.
Last Memory
ON: During playback or in the paused/stopped mode when you
open the disc tray, the unit will memorize the last playback time. The
next time that you insert the same disc and close the disc tray to
load the disc, the unit will play from the memorized point.
OFF: Disable the Last Memory function.

When the DIGITAL OUTPUT option is set to SPDIF/PCM, this item is available.
Select a sample rating for the analog audio output. There are two options, KHz and KHz.
Use the standard 48 KHz option unless your amplier/receiver
can support a sample rate of 96 KHz over a coaxial digital connection.
Channel Delay
Set the delay time for the center, rear speakers and the subwoofer.
You may need to set a delay to compensate for the dierence in audio
propagation times caused by the distance of the speakers to the listener.
Use the navigation keys <UP> or <DOWN> to select a speaker,
then use the navigation keys <LEFT> or <RIGHT> to adjust the
distance differential.
This unit does not support delays for when the distance between
the center or surround speakers and the listener are greater than
that between the front speakers and the listener.
In case the channel delay settings cannot match your speaker
conguration, please set all distances to 0cm. If possible, use
your receiver/amplier to set the channel delay.

About HDMI
HDMI (High-Denition Multimedia Interface) is the newest interface
for audiovisual equipment such as high-denition television and home
theater systems. With wires wrapped in a single cable that resembles
a USB wire, HDMI is able to carry a bandwidth of Gbps (gigabits per
second). This is more than twice the bandwidth needed to transmit
multi-channel audio and video, future-proong HDMI for some time to
come. This and several other factors make HDMI much more desirable
than its predecessors, component video, S-Video and composite video.
HDMI is an uncompressed, all-digital signal, while the aforementioned
interfaces are all analog. With an analog interface, a clean digital source
is translated into less precise analog, sent to the television, then converted back to a digital signal to display on screen. At each translation,
the digital signal loses integrity, resulting in some distortion of picture
quality. HDMI preserves the source signal, eliminating analog conversion
to deliver the sharpest, richest picture possible.

Though standard HDMI or “Type A” has wires, “Type B” will have
wires. The latter is targeted for the motion picture industry and other
professional applications. Both varieties are “Intelligent HDMI,” referring to the built-in capability for HDMI-enabled components to talk to
each other via the interface. Auxiliary information can provide allin- one
remote functionality and other interoperable features not possible in
previous interface technologies.
HDMI supports standard video formats, enhanced video and high-denition. It is also backwards compatible with DVI (Digital Video Interface).
High-end graphics cards featuring a DVI port can connect to a HDMI
interface via a DVI/HDMI cable. This is simply a cable with a DVI connector on one end and a HDMI connector on the other. As a rule, HDMI
cables should not run longer than feet ( meters), or degradation of
the signal could occur.

This setup page is available when there is no disc in the disc tray, the
disc tray is open, or when disc playback is stopped completely.
TV Type
This product supports both NTSC (National Television System
Committee) and PAL (Phase Alternating Line) television broadcasting
standards.
PAL: Select this mode if the unit is connected to a PAL-format TV (used
in China, Hong Kong, Europe, etc). It will convert the video signal of an
NTSC disc and output in PAL format.
MULTI: Select this mode if the unit is connected to a multi-system TV.
The video signal output format will match the video signal of the disc.
NTSC: Select this mode if the unit is connected to an NTSC-format TV
(used in Taiwan, America, Canada, etc). It will convert the video signal of
a PAL disc and output in NTSC format.
Selecting the wrong TV Type will cause the quality of the image
to be extremely poor. Be sure to select the correct TV Type.
PBC (Play Back Control)
ON: Activate the PBC function. When playing a disc encoded with PBC
function, press <MENU> to return to the PBC menu.
OFF: Disable the PBC function.
This function only works with those discs encoded with PBC
function. DVD and CD formats do not support PBC menus.

Manipulación de un disco
Sostenga el DVD/CD desde los bordes. Evite tocar el lado grabado
del disco. Para retirar un DVD/CD de su estuche, presione en el centro del mecanismo de retención del estuche y retire el disco hacia
afuera.
No someta a los discos a exposición prolongada a la luz solar directa,
alta humedad o altas temperaturas.
No doble ni presione los discos.
Para reducir el riesgo de rayones, coloque siempre los discos nueva-
mente en su estuche después de su uso. Almacene los discos verticalmente en un mueble a tal n.
No coloque etiquetas o adhesivos en ninguno de los lados de un
disco.
Limpieza de un disco
Utilice un paño suave seco para limpiar cualquier huella digital o polvo
de la supercie de reproducción del disco. Limpie en líneas radiales
desde el centro hacia el borde externo del disco. Pequeñas partículas de
polvo y manchas superciales no afectarán la calidad de reproducción.
Nunca utilice productos químicos como aerosoles para disco, aero-
soles antiestáticos, benceno o diluyentes para limpiar un disco. Si
lo hace, dañará la supercie del disco en forma permanente.

Control remoto
El control remoto transmite un haz de láser infrarrojo direccional.
Asegúrese de apuntar el control remoto directamente al sensor infrarrojo
remoto durante el funcionamiento. El sensor no podrá recibir señales
apropiadamente si es cubierto, si se encuentra un objeto de grandes dimensiones entre el control remoto y el sensor, o si se encuentra expuesto

Conexiones
Deberá congurar la salida de video de la unidad en YUV o P-
YUV cuando utilice la salida de video componente. Utilice YUV

Fuente de alimentación
Conecte el cable de alimentación de la unidad a una toma de CA de
pared de -V /Hz, únicamente. Realice todas las conexiones
de video, altavoces y audio antes de conectar la alimentación.
No conecte el enchufe de alimentación a la salida de aliment-
ación que no sea la indicada en este manual o en la etiqueta de

Instrucciones de reproducción básica
Presione <PLAY/PAUSE> (reproducción/pausa), para iniciar la reproducción.
Algunos discos pueden iniciar la reproducción automáticamente o
mostrar un menú especíco del disco DVD. Si un menú aparece, utilice el
<Navigation Keypad> (teclado de navegación) para seleccionar la característica u opción deseada y luego presione <ENTER> para conrmar.
Play/Pause/Stop (Reproducir/Pausa/Detener)
Presione <PLAY> para reproducir el disco por primera vez.

Presione <STOP> durante la reproducción para detener el disco

ceder al menú de conguración del sistema.
Presione las teclas de navegación <LEFT> o <RIGHT> para seleccio-
nar un elemento. El submenú del elemento seleccionado se mostrar
debajo del elemento seleccionado.
Presione las teclas de navegación <UP> o <DOWN> para seleccionar
un elemento del submenú, luego presione <ENTER> para mostrar
las opciones del elemento seleccionado del submenú.
Presione <UP> o <DOWN> para seleccionar una opción, luego pre-

: : Si la unidad está conectada a un televisor de pantalla ancha, se-
leccione esta opción. La imagen de tipo pantalla de cine se mostrará
en pantalla completa en su relación de aspecto original, mientras
que la imagen de relación de aspecto : se ajustará horizontalmente para adaptarse a la pantalla.
WIDE SQUEEZE: Aparecerá una imagen ancha como pantalla com-
pleta en su radio de aspecto original. La imagen : será mostrada
con bordes negros en los lados, de modo tal que la imagen no se
deforme.
Marca de ángulos
Congure este elemento en la posición ON (encendido). Cuando se
reproduce un disco codicado con múltiples ángulos de cámara, la
marca de ángulo se mostrará en la pantalla. En ese momento puede
ver el video desde los diferentes ángulos de cámara presionando
<ANGLE> en el control remoto.
Congure este elemento en la posición OFF (apagado) para desacti-
var esta función.
Esta función trabaja únicamente con aquellos discos codica-
dos con múltiples ángulos de cámara

Congure el idioma del display en pantallas con este elemento.

Subtítulos
Congure este elemento en la posición ON (encendido). Cuando un
disco está codicado con subtítulos, los subtítulos se mostrarán en la
pantalla.
Congure este elemento en la posición OFF (apagado) para ocultar-
los. Puede también presionar <SUBTITLE> en el control remoto para
mostrar u ocultar los subtítulos.
Esta función sólo se activa con los discos codicados con sub-
títulos.
Salva pantallas
ENCENDIDO: Si la imagen permanece sin movimiento en la pantalla
varios minutos, (por ejemplo, el disco está pausado, detenido etc.)
un salva pantallas aparecer en la pantalla. Puede presionar cualquier
tecla o botón excepto <STANDBY> para volver al estado anterior. La
unidad pasará a modo de espera después de alrededor de veinte
minutos de encontrarse en el modo de salva pantalla. Puede presionar <STANDBY> para encenderla nuevamente.
APAGADO: Desactiva la función de salva pantalla.
HDCD (Medio digital compatible de alta denición)
HDCD (Medio digital compatible de alta denición) es un proceso patentado para codicar y decodicar la señal de sonido y enviarla de manera
completa, rica y detallada desde discos con codicación HDCD. Puede
congurar el ltro digital en x, x o apagado (o).

Última memoria
ENCENDIDO: Durante la reproducción o en el modo de pausa /
detención, cuando abra la bandeja de discos, la unidad memorizará
el último tiempo de reproducción. La próxima vez que coloque el
mismo disco y cierre la bandeja de discos para cargarlo, la unidad
iniciará la reproducción desde el punto memorizado.
APAGADO: Desactiva la función de última memoria.

Mezcla hacia el frente
LT/RT: El audio de . canales se mezcla en los canales izquierdo y
derecho y sale a través de los altavoces FI y FD respectivamente.
ESTÉREO: El audio de . canales se mezcla en la señal estéreo y sale a
través de los altavoces FI y FD.
ENVOLVENTE D: Este modo crea un efecto envolvente virtual de los
contenidos de audio multicanal o estéreo.
. canales: Apague el modo DOWNMIX. Si la unidad está conectada
e un amplicador de . canales, este elemento debe seleccionarse.
Esta función sólo se aplica a los discos de 5.1 canales codicados
AC-3 de Dolby.

Altavoces frontales, central, traseros y de sub-bajos
Únicamente cuando el modo DOWNMIX está apagado (por ejemplo:
DOWNMIX está congurado en .CH) están activados los altavoces
CENTER (central) y REAR (traseros). El altavoz FRONTAL puede congurarse en LARGE (grande) o SMALL (pequeño) (se recomienda
pequeño). Los altavoces CENTER (central) y REAR (traseros) pueden ser
congurados en LARGE (grande), SMALL (pequeño) u OFF (apagado) (se
recomienda pequeño) y el SUBWOOFER puede ser congurado en ON
(encendido) u OFF (apagado).
Si el altavoz se congura en GRANDE, el nivel de salida será may-
or que si se lo congura en PEQUEÑO.
Si el altavoz se congura en PEQUEÑO, el nivel de salida será
menor que si se lo congura en GRANDE.
Si algún altavoz está congurado en la posición OFF (apagado),
no habrá salida de audio en él.
DIÁLOGO
Cuando se congura DOWNMIX en LT/RT o STEREO, este elemento
estará disponible. Ajusta el valor de este elemento para controlar el
volumen de diálogo (por ejemplo: audio de conversación)
NOTA: Cuando reproduzca un disco codicado con audio de . canales,
este elemento puede usarse para ajustar el volumen de los altavoces.
D.R.C. (Control de rango dinámico)
Puede congurar este elemento en AUTO (automático), ON (encendido)
u OFF (apagado).

Salida Digital
Congure esta opción en SPDIF/RAW o SPDIF/PCM para activar la conexión de audio digital coaxial.
SPDIF/OFF: No se producirá salida de señal de audio digital. (Coaxial
apagado)
SPDIF/RAW: La salida de señal de audio digital estará en su formato
original. Este modo es comúnmente utilizado para señales de DTS y
Dolby Digital ..
SPDIF/PCM: La salida de señal de audio digital estará en su formato
PCM. Este modo es comúnmente utilizado para señales de audio en
CD.
Salida LPCM
Cuando la opción DIGITAL OUTPUT (salida digital) está congurada en
SPDIF/PCM, este elemento está disponible.
Seleccione una clasicación de muestra para la salida de audio analógica. Existen dos opciones: KHz y KHz.
Utilice la opción estándar de 48 KHz a menos que su amplica-
dor / receptor soporte una frecuencia de muestreo de 96 KHz
mediante una conexión coaxial digital.
Retardo de canal
Congura el tiempo de retardo para los altavoces central, traseros y el
de sub-bajos. Puede necesitar congurar un tiempo de retardo para
compensar la diferencia en el tiempo de la propagación del audio generada por la distancia de los altavoces al oyente.

Utilice la teclas de navegación <UP> (arriba) o <DOWN> (abajo)
para seleccionar un altavoz, luego utilice las teclas de navegación
<LEFT> (izquierda) o <RIGHT> (derecha) para ajustar la diferencia
generada por la distancia.
Esta unidad no soporta retardos para el caso de que la distancia
entre el altavoz central o los altavoces traseros y el oyente sea
mayor que la distancia entre los altavoces frontales y el oyente.
En el caso de que los retardos de canal no coincidan con la dis-
tribución de los altavoces, congure todas las distancias en 0
(cero) cm. Si es posible, use el receptor/amplicador para congurar el retardo de canal..
