Operating Instructions
n Remote Control — Each of the pair of remote controls is a miniature
radio transmitter with a typical range of up to 100 feet. Obstructions, radio interference, cellular transmissions or a weak remote control battery may reduce the range or interrupt transmission. (If the system does not immediately respond, release and press the button again. This works better than holding the button down.) The second remote can be used by a second driver, or kept as a spare. (Note: AviGlo remote controls are not compatible with the AMX58.)
Additional remote controls or batteries can be purchased from any authorized Prime Dealer, or by calling Prime Security toll-free at 1-800-253-0334 (within the U.S.) or 1-847-215-2233.
n To Arm The System — The alarm can be programmed for active or
passive arming. Active arming means the alarm can only be armed by the remote control. Passive arming means the alarm will automatically arm itself. See the "Programming Table for System Features" on page 8.
n Ac tive Arm ing. Press remote button #1 once. The siren will chirp
twice, the parking lights will flash twice, the doors will lock,* the LED will flash slowly and the starter will be disabled .**
n Pas sive Arm ing. Turn the ignition key off, exit the vehicle and close
the doors. When the interior lights turn off, the LED will flash rapidly for 30 seconds to indicate the system is passive arming. The LED will then flash slowly to indicate the system is armed and the starter is disabled. (At any time during passive arming, you may actively arm the alarm.)
n To Disarm the System — Press remote button #1 for 1-2 seconds.
The siren will chirp once, the parking lights will flash once, the doors will unlock, the interior lights will turn on (if the optional interior light illunination relay was installed), the LED will turn off and the starter will be enabled.
* If your sys tem was in stalled with the door lock/un lock fea ture, all other door lock/unlock re lated features will apply. ** If the optional starter disable was installed, all starter disable related features will apply.

n Interior Light Illumination Capability When the alarm system
is remotely disarmed, the vehicle's interior light(s) will turn on for 30 seconds or until the ignition key is turned on (requires an optional relay).
n To Activate an Accessory — Press remote button #2 for 1-2
seconds to activate an optional accessory such as trunk release, remote engine starter or a remote control garage door opener.
n Valet Switch — The valet switch is a small hidden toggle switch which
can only be controlled with the use of your ignition key. This switch allows you to program many features of the alarm system. In the event of a lost or stolen remote control, you can activate the Protected Valet Mode to bypass (shut off) the alarm functions.
BE SURE TO ASK YOUR DEALER TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE VALET SWITCH IS LO CATED.
n Protected Valet Mode — You can place your system in Protected
Valet Mode when your car is being serviced by mechanics, car wash personnel or driven by valet attendants, and still maintain possession of your remote control(s). While in Protected Valet Mode, all alarm functions are bypassed to prevent undesired or accidental arming.
n To Turn on Pro tected Valet Mode
1. Turn your ignition key to the "ON" position or start the vehicle.
2. Flick the valet switch to the "ON" position.

2. Flick the valet switch to the "OFF" position,
3. The LED will turn off to indicate the alarm is no longer in Protected Valet Mode.
n User Programmable Passive Door Lock — The system will not
automatically lock the doors when the alarm passively arms to prevent the keys and remote from accidentally being locked in the vehicle. If you prefer, you can easily program the systen to automatically lock the doors every time the alarm passively arms. See the “Programming Table for System Features” on page 8.
n Remote Panic with Safety Locks™ — Press and hold button #1
for 3-4 seconds. The siren will sound continually and the parking lights will flash on and off. If the ignition key is off, the doors will unlock. If the ignition key is on, the doors will lock. To deactivate, press button #1 once (may require additional relays).
n LED Status Indicator — The LED on your vehicle’s dashboard or
center console will inform you of the system status.

or alarm input trigger zone, the alarm, when remotely armed, will alert you by a series of chirps and light flashes.
n Instant Remote Control Code Deletion — In the event of a lost
or stolen remote control, all remote controls can be erased from the system's memory to prevent unauthorized system operation. See the "Programming Table for Remote Controls" on page 9.
n One-Step Remote Control Code Learning — The system can be
programmed to accept as many as four separate remote controls. See the "Programming Table for Remote Controls" on page 9.
n Alarm State Memory — If your vehicle’s battery is disconnected and
later reconnected, the system will automatically return to its last state prior to disconnection, whether it was armed, disarmed or in Protected Valet Mode. For example, if a mechanic disconnects the battery while the alarm is disarmed or in Protected Valet Mode, he won’t trigger the alarm when he reconnects the battery. If a thief removes power while the alarm is armed, and reconnects it, the alarm will instantly sound, the parking lights will flash and the starter will be disabled.

n How to Interpret the Chirps and Parking Light Flashes
When you press the remote control buttons, the system will respond with chirps (unless you have the chirp muting feature turned on or the system is in Valet Mode) and flashes of the parking lights to indicate the system status.
An explanation of these chirp/flash acknowledgments is as follows:
Num ber of chirps and flashes Explanation
1 Disarming of the alarm 2 Arming of the alarm
2 and then 4 Armed and there is a sensor malfunction (automatically bypassed)
3 Disarmed and there was an intrusion attempt 4 Armed and there is a trigger malfunction (automatically bypassed)

User-Programmable Features
All system and remote control programmable features are accomplished by turning the ignition key "ON" (or starting the engine) and flicking the valet switch on and off a preset number of times. The system also allows you to add new remote controls in one step, delete lost or stolen remote controls or rearrange the factory preset remote control functions.
1. Remove the system from Protected Valet Mode. Programming cannot be accessed while the system is in Protected Valet Mode indicated by the LED on solid red.
2. Select the feature you wish to program from the "Programming Table for System Features" or the "Programming Table for Remote Controls" on pages 9 & 10. Note the number of chirps associated with that feature.
3.Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
4. Within 10 seconds, begin flicking the valet switch on and off. The siren will chirp once each time you flick the switch on then off.
5. Continue flicking the switch on and off, counting the number of chirps.
NOTE: Stop when you reach the number of chirps as so ci ated with your cho sen fea ture.
6. Follow the "Secondary Action." You will hear a number of chirps to confirm that you have changed the setting of that feature.
7. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
8. Repeat steps 1-7 for any other feature you wish to program.
