Safety

• Thekettle must only be connected to anearthed electrical
socket complying with thespecifications stated on
theproduct rating plate.

• Never use thekettle with any other base than theone that is
included at purchase.

• Never overfill thekettle. Max capacity: 1 litre.

• Thelid of thekettle should always be closed during operation.
Never open thelid while thekettle is heating or on theboil.

• Place thebase plate on aflat dry surface and out of
children’s reach.

• Never immerse thekettle or its base plate in water.

• Hot steam will escape from thespout of thekettle during
operation. Please be careful.

• Thekettle is designed for normal domestic use in thehome,
office, etc.

• Thekettle is intended for indoor use only.

• Never touch thekettle while it is warming up or after boiling.
Always use thehandle.

• Be careful and attentive when pouring out thewater after it
has boiled.

• Thekettle and its base plate should only be used as
described in theinstruction manual.

• Never fill thekettle with any other liquid than water.

• Do not overfill thekettle. Thewater level should be between
themin and max marks.

• Always unplug thekettle from thewall socket before cleaning/
maintenance or when it is not in use for anextended period.

• Make sure that themains lead does not drape over theedge
of tables or worktops. Make sure that thelead does not come
into contact with hot surfaces, e.g. awarm hob.

• Do not touch thekettle if your hands are moist or wet.

• Do not subject thebase of thekettle to moisture, impacts or
high temperatures.

• Do not pull or carry thebase plate by thelead. Do not pull
thelead around sharp corners or edges. Make sure thelead
is not crushed or pinched by drawers or cupboard doors.

• Never use thekettle if it has been damaged in any way.
Do not use theappliance if thepower lead or its plug is damaged.

• Never use thekettle if you have dropped it on thefloor, left it
outdoors or dropped it into water.

• Never try to open thecasing. Certain components inside
thecasing are exposed and carry dangerous electrical
current. Contact with these components could result in
electric shock.

• If themains lead is damaged in any way it must be replaced
by aqualified electrician.

• Thekettle must only be repaired by qualified service technicians.

• Thekettle must not be taken apart or modified.

• Thekettle can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of theappliance in asafe way and if they
understand thehazards involved. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are
older than 8 and supervised. Keep theappliance and its cord
out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.

• Thekettle may be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of theappliance in asafe way and understand
thehazards involved. Never let children play with thekettle.

Operating instructions

1. Remove thekettle from thebase.

2. Open thelid and fill thekettle with water.
Note: Never fill over the1-litre mark. Never fill with less water than theMIN mark.

3. Place thekettle onto its base.

4. Plug themains lead into apower point and switch it on by pressing
[ ] down. The [ ] light will come on to indicate that thekettle is on. Thekettle is
now in operation. Thekettle will shut off automatically once thewater has boiled.

5. Theboiling operation can be interrupted at any time by setting the [ ] switch to
theupper position. If after pouring out some water, you wish to boil theremaining
water (provided thewater level reaches up to theMIN mark), press the [ ] switch
back down.

Note: Boil two full kettles of water and dry thekettle before using it for thefirst time.

Let thekettle cool down properly after use before refilling it with new water.
Note: Make sure that there is nothing preventing the [

returning to theupper position after boiling. If there is anobject preventing theswitch
from returning to theupper position thekettle will continue in boiling mode.

Note: Make sure that thelid is closed and thefilter in thespout is fitted, otherwise
thekettle will not switch off automatically.

Overheat/boil-dry protection

Theoverheat/boil-dry protection will automatically turn off thekettle if it is accidentally
turned on when it is empty. Theprotective device will reset automatically once
thekettle has cooled.

Descaling

After some use limescale may build up in thekettle. For descaling, use amixture
of water and white vinegar (acetic acid) or aspecial descaling agent that can be
purchased at most supermarkets, etc.

• Mix 100 ml of white vinegar (not regular vinegar) with 300 ml cold water or follow
thedirections included with thedescaling agent.

• Pour themixture into thekettle and turn it on. Let themixture boil twice. Thereafter,
pour themixture away.

• In order to remove thelast remnants of limescale and descaling agent, thekettle
should be filled to theMAX mark with fresh water. Turn thekettle on and let it come
to theboil.

• Pour out thewater and repeat this process 3 times. Thekettle is now ready to use again.

Thekettle should be descaled after every 2–3 months of daily use.

Care and maintenance

• Clean theproduct using alightly moistened cloth. Use only mild cleaning agents,
never solvents or corrosive chemicals.

• Remove thespout filter when necessary by carefully pressing it downwards to
release thelock catch and carefully removing it. Clean thefilter and refit it by
setting thelower catch in place first.

• If thekettle is not to be used for anextended period, unplug thelead and coil it
into thebase for storage. Clean thekettle and place it on its base in dry, dust-free
environment for storage.

Disposal

This product should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
If you are unsure how to proceed, contact your local council.
