GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. ALWAYS keep the work area clean and tidy.
2. ALWAYS keep children and visitors away from the work area.
3. Although the lamp may be used outdoors, DO NOT leave it exposed to the elements. Avoid direct sunlight, direct heat, rain/moisture etc.
4. ALWAYS keep body and clothing dry. Never work in damp area without adequate insulation against electric shock.
GENERAL USE

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Connect the mains lead to a standard, 230 Volt /50Hz electrical supply through an approved 13 amp BS1363 plug, or a suitably fused isolator switch.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
IMPORTANT: The wires in the mains lead should be wired up in accordance with the following colour code:
Green & Yellow - Earth
Blue - Neutral
Brown - Live
Connect the GREEN & YELLOW coloured cord to the plug terminal marked with a letter E or Earth “ “ symbol or coloured GREEN or GREEN & YELLOW.
Connect the BROWN coloured cord to the plug terminal marked a letter “L” or coloured RED.
Connect the BLUE coloured cord to the plug terminal marked a letter “N” or coloured BLACK
If this appliance is fitted with a plug which is moulded on to the electric cable (i.e. non-rewireable) please note:
1. The plug must be thrown away if it is cut from the electric cable. There is a danger of electric shock if it is subsequently inserted into a socket outlet.
2. Never use the plug without the fuse cover fitted.
3. Should you wish to replace a detachable fuse carrier, ensure that the correct replacement is used (as indicated by marking or colour code).
4. Replacement fuse covers can be obtained from your local Clarke dealer or most electrical stockists.
FUSE RATING
The fuse in the plug must be replaced with one of the same rating and this replacement must be ASTA approved to BS1362.
We strongly recommend that this machine is connected to the mains supply via a Residual Current Device (RCD).
If in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt any electrical repairs yourself.

MAINTENANCE
• Keep the unit clean by wiping with a dry cloth. DO NOT use solvents
as a cleaning agent.
• Check the power cable to ensure it is sound & free from cuts /
cracks etc.
REPLACING A FLUORESCENT TUBE OR STARTER
Before attempting to replace the tube, ensure the lamp is switched off and isolated from the main electrical supply by removing the plug from the socket. Allow the lamp to cool down for a few minutes after switching off, before performing any maintenance tasks. Handle the fluorescent tube using either a glove or a piece of cloth wrapped around the tube.
1. Pull off the rubber surround from around the fluorescent tube and lift away the transparent front cover.
2. Remove the lamp centre cover by pinching the sides together.
3. Pull the tube assembly from the frame where it is held by four fixing pins.
4. Replacing the fluorescent tube unit is a reverse of the above process, taking care that the four pins of the fluorescent tube line up with the corresponding four holes inside the connecting base socket. Press the fluorescent tube into place.
5. To remove a defective starter, simply twist it gently anti-clockwise and pull it from its socket.
