Thank you for purchasing this CLARKE Polishing Kit.
Before use, read this manual thoroughly and follow all instructions given.
The polishing kit it is designed to fit to a bench mounted grinder (not supplied). and is intended for polishing steel, brass, copper, nickel, chrome or silver objects.
BENCH GRINDER REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS
1. The maximum speed of the bench grinder must not exceed 3500 rpm.
2. The 6” polishing kit requires a bench grinder with a 12.7 mm spindle.
3. The 8” polishing kit requires a bench grinder with a 16 mm spindle.

This CLARKE product is guaranteed against faulty manufacture for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
This guarantee is invalid if the product is found to have been abused or tampered with in any way, or not used for the purpose for which it was intended.
Faulty goods should be returned to their place of purchase, no product can be returned to us without prior permission.
This guarantee does not effect your statutory rights.

WHAT IS SUPPLIED

The polishing kit is supplied with
• 1 tapered shaft
• 1 stick of polishing compound
• 1 polishing wheel
• 1 buffing wheel

PPE REQUIRED

During use, you must wear the following PPE.
Wear eye protection Wear a mask
Wear protective gloves

WARNINGS

1. Do not use to polish dangerous items like knifes.
2. Ensure adequate ventilation during use.
3. Always wear protective clothing which includes safety goggles, dust mask and gloves when working with this kit.
4. Make sure that your work surface has been properly assessed for any potential hazards before starting work.

FIRST AID MEASURES (POLISHING COMPOUND)

After inhalation Supply fresh air, consult doctor in case of complaints.
After skin contact Wash with soap and water and rinse thoroughly.
After eye contact Rinse the opened eye for several minutes under running
water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
After swallowing Rinse out mouth and drink plenty of water.

SETUP

FITTING THE POLISHING WHEEL TO THE BENCH GRINDER

1. Remove the wheel and all guards from the left hand side of your bench grinder.
• Consult the bench grinder user manual for instruction of how to do this.
• The inner guards are normally held on with 3 or 4 screws.
• When you revert the bench grinder back to normal use, ALL GUARDS
MUST BE REFITTED.
2. Slide the tapered shaft over the spindle as shown and screw on by hand.
3. Whilst holding the tapered shaft with one hand screw the polishing wheel onto the sharp end of the tapered shaft by hand.
4. To remove the polishing wheel, simply screw the polishing wheel in the opposite direction whist holding the tapered shaft with your other hand.
BUFFING WHEEL.
The buffing wheel is fitted in the same way as above.

ADDING COMPOUND TO THE POLISHING WHEEL

1. Turn on the bench grinder.
2. When the wheel has reached maximum speed, apply the polishing compound to the wheel (at the 4 o’clock position) as shown.
3. Turn off the bench grinder and allow it to come to a stop.
4. The polishing wheel is now ready for use.

USING THE POLISHING KIT

1. Turn on the bench grinder.
2. When the wheel has reached maximum speed, apply the item you want to polish to the wheel (at the 4 o’clock position) as shown.
3. Remove the polishing wheel and replace it with the buffing wheel.
4. Repeat step 2 to buff the item to a fine finish.

REPLACEMENT POLISHING COMPOUND

Replacement polishing compound is available from you local CLARKE dealer.
