WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Dress appropriately - Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Tie long hair out of
the way.
• Keep children and visitors away - Do not let children handle the air drill. Make sure
that any other persons in the work area are dressed suitably and are wearing eye
and ear protectors.
• Do not operate the air drill where there are flammable liquids or gases.
• Keep the air supply hose away from heat, oil and sharp edges.
• Do not fit the air drill to any stand or clamping device that may damage the tool.
USE
• Stay alert and use common sense - Do not operate the air drill when you are tired
or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
• Always wear eye protectors when using the air drill - Eye protectors must provide
protection from flying particles from the front and the side.
• Always wear ear protectors when using the air drill.
• Do not overreach - Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
• Never use any type of bottled gas as a source of power for the air drill.
• Do not connect the air supply hose with your finger on the trigger of the air drill.
• Do not exceed the maximum pressure for the air drill: 90 psi / 6.2 bar.
• Check hoses for leaks or worn condition before use, and ensure that all
connections are secure.
• Check for the presence of live electric cables before use.
• Do not use the air drill for any other purpose than that described in this book.
• Do not carry out any alterations or modifications to the air drill.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Always disconnect from the air supply when:
a)Performing any maintenance
b)The air drill is not in use.
c)The air drill will be left unattended.
d)Moving to another work area.
e)Passing the air drill to another person.
• Never use the air drill if it is defective or operating abnormally.
• The air drill should be serviced at regular intervals by qualified service personnel.
• Avoid damaging the air drill for example by applying excessive force of any kind.
• ALWAYS maintain the tool with care. Keep it clean for best and safest
perfor mance.
• Quick change couplings should not be located at the tool. They add weight and
could fail due to vibration.
• DO NOT force or misuse the tool. It will do a better and safer job at the rate for
which it was designed.
• DO NOT remove any labels. Damaged labels should be replaced.
• This tool vibrates with use. Vibration may be harmful to your hands or arms. Stop
using the tool if discomfort, a tingling feeling or pain occurs. Seek medical advice
before resuming use.
TRANSPORTATION
• Never carry the air drill by the air supply hose.
• Never carry the air drill with your finger on the trigger.
STORAGE
• When not in use the air drill must be disconnected from the air supply and stored
in a dry place out of the reach of children (preferably in a locked cabinet).
• Avoid storing the air drill in environments where the temperature is below 0oC.

• Use only clean, dry, regulated compressed air as a power source for the air drill.
• Air compressors used with the air drill must comply with the appropriate European
Community safety directives.
• A build up of moisture or oil in the air compressor will accelerate wear and
corrosion in the air drill.
• Never exceed the maximum operating pressure for the air drill.

• The air hose must be rated at least 150% of the maximum operating pressure of
the tool.

Connect a suitable hose to the Drill using a ¼”
hose adapter, (A whip hose with Quick Fit
coupling is available from your CLARKE
dealer).then connect the other end to the
airline.
NOTE:
ensure the airline is turned off.
Your Drill is now ready for use.

FITTING THE SECONDARY HANDLE
• The secondary handle is adjustable to suit the user and the position of the
workpiece.
• Right handed users should fit the handle on the left hand side of the drill.
• Left handed users should fit the handle on the right hand side of the drill.
To fit the handle, proceed as follows.
1Position the handle over the drill
collar.
2Tighten it by turning the handle in
a clockwise direction.
3To release the secondary handle,
turn it in an anti-clockwise
direction.
4To rotate the secondary handle,
loosen the handle. Move the
handle to the desired position and
then retighten the handle.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
INSERTING THE DRILL BIT
To insert a drill bit, proceed as follows.
1Open the chuck jaws by inserting the chuck
key in one of the holes in the chuck and
turning it as shown.
2Make sure that the head of the chuck key is
located on the cog barrel of the chuck.
3Turn the chuck key until the chuck jaws are
open sufficiently to take the drill bit.
4Place the drill bit in the jaws of the chuck as
far as it will go.
5Close the chuck jaws and tighten to grip the
drill bit by turning the chuck key as shown.
6Make sure that the chuck jaws are fully closed
and that the drill bit is firmly held.
To remove the bit, proceed as follows.
1Open the jaws by inserting the chuck key in
one of the holes and turning it as shown.
2Remove the drill bit.

WARNING!
WAIT UNTIL THE CHUCK HAS STOPPED ROTATING BEFORE OPERATING THE
DIRECTION CONTROL SWITCH.
USING THE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL SWITCH
The direction control switch should be used as follows.
1For normal drilling into wood, metal and masonry, the drill should be operated in the
forward (F) direction.
2If the drill bit jams whilst drilling, release the trigger switch.
3When the drill has come to a complete stop, move the direction control switch to
the reverse (R) position.

OPERATING THE TRIGGER SWITCH
To operate the trigger switch, proceed as follows.
1Squeeze the trigger switch to start the drill.
2Wait until the air drill is running at its maximum speed before applying it carefully to
the workpiece.
3Release the trigger switch to stop the air drill.

DISCONNECTING THE AIR SUPPLY
WARNING! Do not disconnect the air supply hose until the compressor has been shut
down and the compressed air released.
1.Refer to the compressor instruction book for the procedures to shut down and
release the compressed air.
2.Once the pressure has been released, disconnect the air supply hose from the air
drill.
3.Store the air drill safely in its box in a dry, secure environment

MAINTENANCE
WARNING! Make sure that the air drill is disconnected from the air supply before
starting any cleaning, or maintenance procedures.
DAILY BEFORE USE.
1.Drain water from air tank, air line and compressor.
2.Check and clean the air inlet gauze filter if necessary.
3.Pour a few drops of CLARKE Air Line Oil, into the air inlet. This should be carried out
regardless of whether or not an air line lubricator is used. If an Air line lubricator is not
used, this procedure should be repeated after every two to three hours of use.
CLEANING
• Keep the body of the air drill clean and free from debris, Grit or gum deposits in
the tool may reduce efficiency.
SERVICE AND REPAIR
• All servicing and repair must be carried out by qualified service technicians.
NOTES
Be aware that factors other than the tool may effect its operation and efficiency such as
reduced compressor output, excessive drain on the airline, moisture or restrictions in the
line, or the use of connectors of improper size or poor condition which will reduce air
supply.
