USAGE NOTICE
Follow all warnings, precautions and maintenance as recommended in this user's manual.
Warning - Do not disassemble the Captiva touch. Warning - Do not use, store, or leave the Captiva Touch near re, or
in places with a high temperature, for example, in direct sunlight, or in sun-heated cars.
Warning - Use standard USB cable (maximum length: 5 m). To
extend the USB cable length over 5 m, a certied active extension
USB cable is required. Warning - Do not allow liquid or foreign material enter the Captiva
Touch.
Precautions
The IR camera on the projector receives infrared signal from Captiva Touch which is attached to the whiteboard.
To operate normally:
The IR camera should face the projection image area on the wall. Remove any obstacles between the IR camera and Captiva Touch. Do not place other infrared communication devices, lighting
equipments, or residential heating equipments and so on, nearby. Only use the interactive cable from the accessory kit. The L side
connector should plug into Captiva Touch.
Maintenance: Gently clean the optical port with a dust blower.
How it works
The Captiva Touch covers the entire whiteboard with a thin invisible IR light.
When nger or stylus breaks into the Captiva Touch, IR light reects
to the IR camera.

STEP 1: ENVIRONMENT CHECK
Before setting up and installing the projector and Captiva Touch, ensure that the interactive cable works for the installation location of the mount in advance.
Note: Make sure the projector is installed under the following conditions:
- The projected image is a rectangular shape without any distortion.
- The projector is tilted at an angle no more than +/-3 degrees
vertically and horizontally in relation to the screen.
- When using the interactive function, install the projected image
within reach by hand.
- Do not install the projector or screen in a location subject to direct
sunlight. If the projector or the screen is subject to direct sunlight, the interactive function may not operate correctly.
a. Captiva Touch installation information
Before installing the Captiva Touch module, the projection surface must meet the following conditions/criteria:
The screen surface is a at, smooth unwrapped surface with 1
.
no unevenness of more than 5 mm. The surface can be a
at wall or a whiteboard. For details on how to check surface atness, see page 8.
The surface must allow for the Captiva Touch to be xed with 2
.
screws.
If the projection surface meets the criteria above, the projector and Captiva Touch can then be installed in one of the following ways:
Mount the projector to the wall and the Captiva Touch to the 1
.
whiteboard. Mount the projector and Captiva Touch to the wall.2

B. Whiteboard guideline
When installing the Captiva Touch on a whiteboard, follow the guidelines below:
B-1. For standard aspect ratio (4:3, 16:10 and 16:9)
gap: 2~10 cm
For standard aspect ratio (4:3, 16:10 and 16:9)
From the top of image area, a gap must be kept 2~10
`
cm away from the bottom of LCT module. For suggested whiteboard frame design (height <3 mm),
`
keep 10 mm bezel at left/right/bottom of image area. For regular whiteboard (ex: aluminum frame, height >3
`
mm), keep 50 mm bezel at left/right/bottom of image area.

If the whiteboard frame thickness is greater than 3 mm, the reected
light interference from the whiteboard frame may be detected by IR camera. This can compromise the touch function. To reduce the risk of this happening, it is recommended that a 50 mm boarder is kept around the projected image instead of 10 mm as shown in diagram on the previous page.
If the whiteboard frame thickness is less than 3 mm, ensure the
reected light interference is not observed while doing Step 6 Laser
Beam Alignment (Page 11).

C. Measuring projection surface atness
3
Criteria: overall whiteboard atness <5 mm, atness requirement is
<3 mm at Captiva Touch mounting area.
3
Equipment: leveling instrument (1.2~1.5 m) and thickness gauge.
C-1) Split projection area into 16 segments equally (see below chart).
Place the leveling instrument on the whiteboard.
C-2) Insert a 5 mm thickness gauge at point 1~9 positions in the order
shown below.
Horizontal:
Measure point 1, 2 and 3
Measure point 4, 5 and 6
Measure point 7, 8 and 9

4 ~ 10 cm from the bottom of Captiva Touch
-
3
Keep away distance to image area for standard aspect ratio (4:3, 16:10 and 16:9):
5.5 ~ 13.5 cm from the bottom of the base plate
2 ~ 10 cm from the bottom of Captiva Touch
-
2-1. For short-term demonstration:
2-1-1. Clean surface with isopropyl rubbing alcohol, wipe gently,

TROUBLESHOOTING
Q1 Why can the computer not boot when the USB cable which
connects the computer and projector is already plugged in?
A: There are two options to resolve this issue.
1. Unplug the USB cable from computer.
2. Go to BIOS setup page of computer and modify the “Boot
priority order.” Choose Hard disk as the top priority, save the change, and reboot computer.
Q2 Windows system cannot identify the USB device A:
1. Unplug and replug in the USB cable and check again.
2. Switch to another USB port and check again.
3. Restart your computer and check again.
4. Go to the Power Options in Control Panel, check the USB
selective suspend settings status in the USB settings under Advance Settings. Switch to “Disabled”.
5. Go to the ofcial website of the laptop/computer manufacturer,
and update USB driver to the latest version.
6. Use the USB cable included with your projector and check
again. If an USB extension is needed, contact your distributor.

Q4 There is only single touch point A:
1. Re-plug the USB cable from the computer.
2. Go to “Control Panel” and make sure “Tablet PC Components” is selected.
Q5 When should Calibration and Touch Area Setting be done? A: Perform Calibration and Touch Area setting during initial
installation. If the projector or whiteboard is moved, Touch Area Setting and Calibration must be performed again.

Q8 The mouse cursor ( ) ashes or jumps on screen, or when
Touch function does not work well at certain projection area?
A:
1. Check if strong light is shown on the whiteboard. If yes, turn off the light.
2. Check if any foreign object is on the whiteboard. If yes, remove the object.
3. Refer to Step 6 (page 11) Laser Beam Alignment for detailed procedures, to see if laser beam is aligned.
4. Refer to Step 7 (page 14) Touch Area Setting for detailed procedures. Check if the Touch Area boundary is located properly.
Q9 The projection area corner is insensitive or intermittent lines are
observed?
A:
1. Adjust the level of Touch Sensitivity to enhance sensitivity, see Step 9 (page 17) Touch Sensitivity for trouble-shooting.
2. If the Touch function remains insensitive, check the optical port condition. If dust or particles are observed, gently clean the optical port with a dust blower.
Q10 The Touch function is not accurate? A: Touch accuracy may be impacted when the Windows default
