1.
2.
Work area safety
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
a.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the pres-
b.
ence of ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Dis-
c.
tractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical safety
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
a.
Do not use any adapter plugs with grounded power tools. Unmodied plugs
and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges
b.
and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is
grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a
c.
power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or un-
d.
plugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric
shock.
3.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for
e.
outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of elec-
tric shock.
Personal safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating
a.
a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating
power tools may result in serious personal injury.

Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before plug-
c.
ging in. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or plugging in
power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A
d.
wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This en-
e.
ables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, cloth-
f.
ing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair
can be caught in moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection fa-
g.
cilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices
can reduce dust-related hazards.
4.
Power tool use and care
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
a.
The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power
b.
tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source of the power tool before
c.
making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow per-
d.
sons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
e.
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many ac-
cidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these
f.
instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use
of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

Service
Have your power tool serviced by a qualied repair person using only identi-
a.
cal replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
VIBRATION HAZARD
This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term exposure to vibration may
cause temporary or permanent physical injury, particularly to the hands, arms
and shoulders. To reduce the risk of vibration-related injury:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Anyone using vibrating tools regularly or for an extended period should rst be
examined by a doctor and then have regular medical check-ups to ensure medi-
cal problems are not being caused or worsened from use. Pregnant women
or people who have impaired blood circulation to the hand, past hand injuries,
nervous system disorders, diabetes, or Raynaud’s Disease should not use this
tool. If you feel any medical or physical symptoms related to vibration (such as
tingling, numbness, and white or blue ngers), seek medical advice as soon as
possible.
Do not smoke during use. Nicotine reduces the blood supply to the hands and
ngers, increasing the risk of vibration-related injury.
Wear suitable gloves to reduce the vibration effects on the user.
Use tools with the lowest vibration when there is a choice between different pro-
cesses.
Include vibration-free periods each day of work.
Grip tool as lightly as possible (while still keeping safe control of it). Let the tool
do the work.
To reduce vibration, maintain the tool as explained in this manual. If any abnor-
mal vibration occurs, stop use immediately.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
Maintain labels and nameplates on the tool. These carry important safety
information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replace-
ment.
Avoid unintentional starting. Prepare to begin work before turning on the tool.
Do not lay the polisher down until it has come to a complete stop. Moving
parts can grab the surface and pull the tool out of your control.
Page 5SKU 41213 For technical questions, please call 1-800-444-3353.
4.
Do not force the Polisher/Sander. This tool will do the work better and safer at
the speed and capacity for which it was designed. Do not force the pads into the
vehicle being waxed/polished. Apply moderate pressure, allowing the Bonnet to
rotate freely without being forced.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
11.
When waxing/polishing a vehicle, do not operate the vehicle’s engine in an
enclosed area. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, vapor emitted
from a vehicle’s running engine that may cause severe injury or death if
inhaled.
Never lay the Polisher/Sander down until the Polishing Pad (2) has come to
a full stop. The Backing Pad can grab the surface and pull the tool out of your
control.
Make sure the vehicle being waxed/polished is free from burrs and any
other foreign matter which could damage the tool.
Always unplug the Polisher/ Sander from its electrical outlet before per-
forming any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
When sanding, only use 7” sanding pads with a hook and loop back that at-
taches securely to the Backing Pad.
Connect to a GFCI. Always connect the Line Cord to a Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter (GFCI) protected electrical outlet.
Accessories must be rated for at least the speed recommended on the tool
warning label. Wheels and other accessories running over rated speed can y
apart and cause injury.
12.
13.
14.
15.
Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation
where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact
with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock
the operator.
Never use accessories rated for less than 3500 RPM.
WARNING! Avoid serious injury. Never install carbide tipped or steel
circular saw blade for use on this Sander/Polisher. Never install a wood carv-
ing blade, carving disc with saw chain cutters, or a cutting carving disc on this
Sander/Polisher. Never install abrasive cutoff discs and wheels, ap wheels, wire
brushes, or wire wheel brushes.
