Unpacking Instructions
Immediately upon receiving a fixture, carefully unpack the carton, check the contents to ensure that all
parts are present, and have been received in good condition. Notify the shipper immediately and retain
packing material for inspection if any parts appear damaged from shipping or the carton itself shows signs
of mishandling. Save the carton and all packing materials. In the event that a fixture must be returned to
the factory, it is important that the fixture be returned in the original factory box and packing.
AC Pow er
To determine the power requirements for a particular fixture, see the label
affixed to the back plate of the fixture or refer to the fixture’s specifications
chart. A fixture’s listed current rating is its average current draw under
normal conditions. All fixtures must be powered directly off a switched
circuit and cannot be run off a rheostat (variable resistor) or dimmer circuit,
even if the rheostat or dimmer channel is used solely for a 0% to 100%
switch. B ef ore applyin g p ow er to a fixture, chec k th at t h e s ource voltage
matches the fixture’s requirement. Check the fixture or device carefully to
make sure that if a voltage selection switch exists that it is set to t h e c orr ec t lin e voltage you wi ll us e.
Warning! Verify that the volta ge s ele ct swit ch on your unit mat ch es the lin e volt age appl ied . Damage to your
fixture may result if the line voltage applied does not match the voltage indicated on the voltage
selector sw it c h.
All fixtures must be connected to circuits with a suitable Earth Ground.

Fuse Replacement
With a flat-head screwdriver, unscrew the fuse holder from its housing. Remove the damaged fuse from its
holder and replace with exact same type fuse. Screw the fuse holder back in its place and reconnect
power.
Disconnect the power cord before replacing a fuse and always replace with the same type fuse.
Fixture Linking
You will n eed a serial data link to run light shows of one or more fixtures using a DMX controller or to run
synchr on iz ed sh ows on tw o or more fixtures s et t o a mast er/ s l a ve op erating mod e. The combined num ber
of channels required by all the fixtures on a serial data link determines the number of fixtures the data link
can support. Details on linking for DMX can be foundinthe DMX Primer, available from
www.chauvetlighting.com
Important: Fixtures on a serial data link must be daisy chained in one single line. To comply with the EIA-485
standard no more than 32 fixtures should be connected on one data link. Connecting more than 32
fixtures on one serial data link without the use of a DMX optically-isolated splitter may result in
deterioration of the digital DMX sig na l.
Maximum recommended serial data link distance: 500 m (1640 ft)
Maximum recommended number of fixtures on a s er i al d at a lin k: 32
2-conductor twiste d pa ir plus a shield
Maximum capacitance between conductors – 30 pF/ft.
Maximum capacitance between conductor and shield – 55 pF/ft.
Maximum resistance of 20 ohms / 1000 ft.
Nominal impedance 100 – 140 ohms
.
Master/Slave Fixture Linking
1. Connect the (male) 3-pin connector side of the DMX cable to the output (female) 3-pin connector of the
first fixture.
2. Connect the end of the cable coming from the first fixture which wi ll hav e a (female) 3-pin connector to
the input connector of the next fixture consisting of a (male) 3-pin connector. Then, proceed to connect
from the output as stated above to the input of the following fixture and so on.
Mounting
Orientation
This fi xtur e m ay b e m ount ed i n an y safe position, provided there is adequate room for ventilation.
Rigging
It is important never to obs truct the fan or ven ts pat hway. Mount th e
fixture using, a suitable C or O type clamp. Adjust the angle of the fixture
by loosening both knobs and tilting the fixture. After finding the desired
positi on, r et ig hten both kn obs .
When selecting installation location, take into consideration lamp
replacement access and routine maintenance.
Safety cables must always be used.
Never mount in places wh ere the fixtur e wil l b e e xp os ed to r ain , hig h humidity, extr em e

Standalone Mode (Sound-Active, Auto Mode):
This mode allows a sin gl e unit to run to the b eat of the music, or th e uni t will auto change in Auto Mod e.
1) Set dipswitches position, as desired:
Note: The Speed of effect and strobing effect DIP switches affect the auto programs. The
strobing dipswitches work on their own when all other dipswitches are turned off and there is
no dmx signal present. Also, when you combine the dipswitches for the speed and/or strobe,
they stack together for greater speeds.
2) The unit will react to the low frequencies of music vi a the intern al m ic rophone in Sound Active mode,
or the unit will auto change in Auto Mode.
3) Use the audio sens iti vi ty knob on the b ack of th e unit to make the unit more or less sensitive in
Sound-Active mode. Turning the knob counterclockwise decreases the sensitivity; turning the knob
clockwise increases the sensitivity.
This fi xtur e will automat ically recogn i z e mas ter slave oper ati on when conn ec t ed properly. T h e fir s t fi xture
will be set as the master, and all fixtures following this will set as slave fixtures. You must f ollow d aisy-chain
configu ration for this type of setup.
N ote: Do not connect a DMX controller to the fixture(s) when you are trying to run them
standalone, as this will put them in DMX mode automatically.

DMX Channel Values
This mod e all ows the unit to be controlled by any universal DMX controller. This fixtur e wi ll au tomatically
switch to DMX mode when you connect a DMX controller to it. Plug the DMX controller into the fixture.
Using the DIP switches on the back of the fixture, set the DMX starting address.

This DMX mode enables the use of a universal DMX controller device. Each fixture requires a start address from 1 to

1) Determine the la rgest value switch that i s less than the star t address. Turn this switch on.
2) Subtract the value of the switch y ou jus t turned on from the starti ng addr ess number.
3) Determine the largest value switch that is less than the remainder from the previous subtraction. Turn this switch

General Maintenance
To maint ain op t i mu m p erformanc e and min i mi z e we ar fi xtures should be cleaned frequently. Usage and
environment are contributing factors in determining frequency. As a general rule, fixtures should be
cleaned at least twice a month. Dust build up reduces light output performance and can cause overheating.
This can l ead t o r educed lamp lif e and inc reased mec h anical wear. B e sur e to p ow er off fixture bef or e
conducting maintenance.
Unplug fixture from power. Use a vacuum or air compressor and a soft brush to remove dust collected on
extern al ven t s and int er n al c om ponents. Clean all glass when th e fi xture is cold with a mild solution of
glass cleaner or Isopropyl Alcohol and a soft lint free cotton cloth or lens tissue. Apply solution to the cloth
or tissu e and drag dirt and gr im e to th e out s i d e of th e lens . G ently polish opt i cal surfac es unti l t h ey ar e f r ee
of haze and li nt.
The clean in g of internal and ext er n al op t ical lens es and/ or m irrors mus t be c arri ed out p er i odically to
optimize light output. Cleaning frequency depends on the environment in which the fixture operates: damp,
smoky or p artic ularly dirt y sur r ou nding can cause greater ac c u mul ation of dirt on the unit’s optics. Clean
with soft cloth using normal glass cleaning fluid. A l w ays dry the parts c ar ef ully.
