ALWAYSdisablelocksBEFOREinstallingandoperatingtheopener. ONLYoperategaragedooropenerat120V,60 Hztoavoid malfunctionanddamage.
1. Disablelocksandremoveanyropesconnectedtothe garagedoor.
2. Liftthedoorhalfwayup.Releasethedoor. Ifbalanced,itshouldstayin place,supportedentirelybyitssprings.
3. Raiseandlowerthedoorto checkforbindingor sticking.Ifyourdoor binds,sticks,or isoutofbalance,callatraineddoorsystems
technician.
4. Checkthe sealon the bottomofthe door.Any gap betweenthefloor andthe bottomofthedoormustnotexceed1/4inch(6mm). Otherwise,thesafetyreversalsystemmaynotworkproperly.
5. The openershouldbe installedabovethecenterofthe door. Ifthere is atorsionspringor centerbearingplateinthe wayoftheheader bracket,itmaybe installedwithin4feet(1.2m)to the leftor rightofthe doorcenter.Seepage12.

STEP 1 Assemble the rail and trolley
TopreventINJURYfrompinching, keephandsandfingersawayfromthejointswhile assemblingthe rail.
Toavoidinstallationdifficulties,donotrunthegaragedooropeneruntilinstructedtodoso. Thefrontrailhasacutout"windod' atthe doorend(see illustration).Theholeabovethiswindowis
largeronthetopof the railthanonthe bottom.A smallerhole3-1/2"(8.9cm)awayis closetotherail edge.Rotatethebackrail soit hasa similarholeclosetotheoppositeedge,about4-3/4"(12 cm)from
thefarend.
1. Removethestraightdoor armandhangingbracketpackagedinsidethefrontrailand set asideforInstallationStep5and 9.NOTE: TopreventINJURYwhileunpackingtherail
carefullyremovethestraightdoor armstoredwithintherailsection.
2. Alignthe railsectionson a flatsurfaceasshownand slidethetaperedendsintothe larger ones.Tabsalongthesidewill lockintoplace.
3. Placethemotoruniton packingmaterialtoprotectthecover,andrestthebackendoftherail ontop. Forconvenience,putasupportunderthe frontend oftherail.
4. Asa temporarystop,insertascrewdriverintothe hole 10"(25cm)fromthefrontendoftherail, asshown.
5. Checkto be surethereare4plasticwearpadsinsidethe innertrolley.Iftheybecameloose duringshipping,checkallpackingmaterial.Snapthembackintopositionasshown.
6. Slidethetrolleyassemblytowardthescrewdriverasshown.
7. Slidethe railontothe "U"bracket,untilit reachesallthestopsonthetopandsidesofthe "U" bracket.

Laythebeltbesidetherail,asshown.Grasptheendwiththe hookedtrolleyconnectorand passapproximately12"(30 cm)of beltthrough thewindow.Keeptheribbedsidetowardthe rail,andallowittohang untilAssemblyStep4.
2. Removethetape fromthe idlerpulley.Theinsidecentershouldbe pre-greased.Ifdry, regreasetoensureproperoperation.
3. Placetheidlerpulleyintothewindowasshown.
4. Inserttheidler boltfromthetopthroughtherail andpulley.Tightenwitha3/8"lockwasherand nutunderneaththerail untilthe lockwasheris compressed.
5. Rotatethepulleyto be sureit spinsfreely.
6. Locatethe railtab.The railtabisbetweentheidlerboltand thetrolleyinthefront railsection. Useaflathead screwdriverandlifttherailtab untilthetabisvertical(90°).

Youcanfastentheheaderbracketwithin4feet (122 m) ofthe left orrightofthedoor centeronlyifa torsionspringor centerbearingplateisintheway; oryoucanattachitto theceilingwhenclearanceisminimal (It maybemountedonthewallupsidedownif necessary,to gainapproximately1/2"(1cm).
Ifyouneedtoinstalltheheaderbracketon a 2x4 (onwallorceiling),uselagscrews(not provided)tosecurelyfastenthe2x4tostructuralsupports.
3. Openyourdoortothehighestpointoftravelasshown.Drawanintersectinghorizontallineon theheaderwall2" (5 cm)abovethe highpoint:

NOTE: A 2x4 isidealforsettingthedistancebetweentherail and thedoor.Iftheladder isnottall enoughyou willneedhelp atthispoint. Ifthe doorhitsthe trolleywhenitisraised,pullthetrolleyrelease armdowntodisconnecttheinnerand outertrolley.Slidetheoutertrolleytowardthegarage door opener.Thetrolleycanremaindisconnecteduntilinstructed.

2. Inserttheotherendoftheemergencyreleaseropethroughthe holeinthetrolleyreleasearm. Mounttheemergencyreleasewithinreach,butatleast6feet (1.83m)abovefloor,avoiding centactwithvehiclestopreventaccidentalreleaseand securewitha knot.
NOTE: flit isnecessaryto cuttheemergencyreleaserope,sealthecutend withamatchorlighterto preventunraveling.Ensuretheemergencyreleaseropeandhandleareabovethetopofall vehiclesto avoidentanglement.

Fiberglass,aluminumorlightweightsteelgaragedoorsWILLREQUIREreinforcementBEFORE installationofdoorbracket.Contactyourdoormanufacturerforreinforcementkit.
Figure1showsonepiece ofangleironasthehorizontalbrace.Fortheverticalbrace,2piecesofangle ironareusedtocreateaU-shapedsupport.Thebestsolutionistocheckwithyour garagedoor manufacturerfor anopener installationdoor reinforcementkit.

Thedoorwillnotcloseifthe sensorshave notbeeninstalledandalignedcorrectly.
Whenthelightbeamisobstructedormisalignedwhilethedoor isclosing,thedoorwillreverseandthe garagedooropenerlightswillflashtentimes.Ifthedooris alreadyopen, itwill notclose.Thesensors canbealignedbylooseningthe wingnuts,aligningthesensors,andtighteningthewingnuts.

Ifthedoorstopsand doesnotreverseontheobstruction,thedowntravelneedsto be increased(referto AdjustmentStep1).Repeatthetest.Whenthedoor reversesuponcontactwiththe1-1/2inchboard, removetheboardandopen/clocethe door3or4 timestotesttheadjustment.Ifthegaragedooropener continuestofailthesafetyreversaltest,callatraineddoor systemstechnician.

Using your GarageDoorOpener
Thegaragedooropenercanbe activatedthrougha wall-mounteddoorcontrol,remotecontrol,wireless
keylessentryor MyQ® accessory. Whenthedoorisclosedand thegarage door opener isactivatedthedoor will open.Ifthedoor senses
anobstructionorisinterruptedwhileopeningthedoorwillstop.Whenthe door isinanypositionother
thanclosedandthegarage dooropenerisactivatedthe doorwillclose.Ifthegaragedooropener
sensesanobstructionwhileclosing,the door willreverse.Ifthe obstructioninterruptsthesensorbeam
thegaragedooropenerlightswillblink10times.However,youcanclosethe doorifyouholdthebutton

The Chamberlain Group, Inc.® ("Seller") warrants to the first retail purchaser of this product, for the
residence inwhich this product is originally installed, that it is free from defects in materials and/ or workmanship for a period of five years from the date of purchase, except that the motor and belt are warranted to be free from defects in materials and/or workmanship for the lifetime of the product while you own your residence. The proper operation of this product is dependent on your compliance with the instructions regarding installation, operation, and maintenance and testing. Failure to comply strictly with those instructions will void this limited warranty in its entirety.
If, during the limited warranty period, this product appears to contain a defect covered by this limited warranty, call 1-800- 528-9131, toll free, before dismantling this product. You will be advised of disassembly and shipping instructions when you call. Then send the product or component, pre-paid and insured, as directed to our service center for warranty repair.
