1. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
A. SOFTWARE PRE-SETS
1. When running the S-Viewer software for the first time, taking the time to make a few pre-set choices will make future use
easier and more effective.
2. When more than one video device is available on the computer, the software allows you to select the target video device you
wish to use.
3. Select Video Capture Device from the Option tab in the main toolbar.
4. When the dialog box Select Device appears, you can select the target video device in the list of devices.
5. Next, set the video resolution. To begin, select Option—>Video Resolution.

6. When the dialog box Properties appears, you can change the video resolution by choosing from the list of options.
7. Next, set the desired video attributes.
8. Select Option—>Video Properties to adjust the basic video capture properties.

9. The Cap Properties window will appear.
10. The Video Proc Amp tab allows you to adjust the video Brightness, Contrast, Hue, and other attributes.
11. The Camera Control tab allows you to pre-set the Aperture (Iris) of the camera.

12. Finally, select how you would like to save your recordings.
13. Select Option—>Save Option, and the Save Option dialog box will pop up.
14. From the Save Option window, you can set where and how you would like the recordings to be saved to your computer.

15. Shortcut: Clicking on the vertical rectangle next to the Folder address bar will bring up the Browse for Folder window.
16. Once you have made your selections here, your recordings will always be saved accordingly when you select File—>Save.
17. Helpful Tip: If you ever would like to save a recording to a different location, simply select File—>Save As and the

Save As window will appear to enable you to save the file somewhere else on your computer.
B. OPERATION- MENU CONTROLS
FILE MENU
1. Open Picture Folder: Opens the folder set as the default location for saving
recordings made with the software.
2. Open: Allows you to open files from their saved locations.
3. Close: Closes the opened videos or images.
4. Save: Saves the current video or still image to the default file location.
For more information on defining the file location, see Option—>Save Option.
5. Save As: Opens the Save As window to enable you to save a recording to a
location other than that specified as the default location.
6. Exit: Exits the application.
VIEW MENU
1. Status Bar: Displays or conceals the status bar.
2. Tool Bar: Displays or conceals the consequently-used tool bar.
3. Process Bar: Displays or conceals the process bar.
4. Measure Bar: Displays or conceals the measuring tool bar.
5. Full Screen: Displays the video in full screen. (Use the Esc key to return to
normal view.)

VIDEO MENU
1. Adjust: Opens the Cap Properties window to allow adjustment of video
parameters (Color, Exposure, WB, Frame Rate, Power Frequency, etc.).
2. Enable: Activates or deactivates the real-time processing effects
(described below) and/or real-time measurement.
3. The rest of the commands in the Video menu are also accessible via
the toolbar.

A note on Binary Video: You can adjust the threshold
value of binary (1 to 255) to display dynamically; simply
check the Enable box in the Binary window to use or
deactivate the binary real-time processing effect.
4. RGB: Opens and closes the RGB real-time video
control window.
A. To use these RGB controls, simply check the Enable
box in the RGB Adjusting window.
B. A control window for advanced RGB adjustments
can be accessed through the Advanced button.

MEASURE MENU
C. Simply check the Enable box in this window to
activate these controls.
D. Adjust the red-green-blue slide bars for video
tri-color matching.
E. Apply: Selects options from list box and then
applies them to the current video.
F. Add: Adds the adjusted red-green-blue value to
the database and displays this formula in the list.
G. Delete: Deletes options from the list or database.
1. The commands in the Measure menu can also be accessed in the toolbar under Measure.

A. This toolbar is initially positioned vertically and to the right of the image area in the software,
but it can be dragged to a horizontal position along the top if desired.

INSTRUCTION
Selects image to be moved. The image will display in a
dotted line. Click and drag to the desired new location.
Select the starting point. Click the left button of the mouse
and drag to your desired end point.
Click three points in different positions with the mouse to
form an angle.
Select the top left corner of a rectangle. Click the left
button of the mouse and drag to the lower right corner of
the rectangle.
Select the center of a circle. Click the left button of the
mouse and drag to the point on the arc.
Click three points in different positions with the mouse to
form a circle.

Select the first point by clicking the left mouse button.
Release the button and move to the second point in the
polygon. Click the left button to mark that point. Repeat
until all points are marked. To close the polygon, move
the mouse back to the first point and click the right
mouse button.
Select the first point and click the left mouse button.
Continue in sequence with all points where markers
are desired.
Select the item desired to be deleted by clicking the left
mouse button.
Select this command to delete all measurements made.

3. Special commands:
A.
i. Delete Available Units of Measurement: um/mm/cm/inch.
: Selecting the Calibration command opens the Ruler Setting window. With this window, you can
use a standard microscope calibration ruler or other ruler with sufficiently small graduations to
calibrate your software’s measurement functions.
ii. X Direction: The length along the X axis.
iii. Y Direction: The length along the Y axis.
iv. Demarcation Adjustment: Move the movable points (in the blue circle) of the ruler seen in the image, and the value of
trim size (unit length per pixel) will change.
v. Y=X: Makes the X-axis ruler equal to the Y-axis ruler.
vi. Save To: Save the currently demarcated parameter to a file.
vii. Load From: Load a previously demarcated parameter file.

: Selecting the Measure Setting command opens a window to enable you to set the colors of measuring lines,
movable points, and words.

ANNOTATION MENU
1. Move: Selects the added annotation to be moved. The annotation will display in a dotted line. Click and drag to the
desired new location.
2. Arrow: Draws an arrow. Click the left mouse button on the location to which the arrow is desired to point then hold and
drag in the direction from which you’d like the arrow to originate.
3. Text: Inserts a textbox.
A. Select the Text command.
B. The Input Text window will open.
4. Delete: Deletes an annotation.
5. Cross Line: Overlays a solid X,Y line across the image area.
6. Dashed Cross Line: Overlays a dashed X,Y line across the image area.
7. The rest of the commands in the Video menu are also accessible via the toolbar.

C. Type your desired text in the box and select OK.

2. TROUBLE-SHOOTING
A. ISSUE: NO PREVIEW (BLANK SCREEN)
Follow these steps:
1. Check to ensure the microscope’s illumination source is activated or its mirror properly positioned.
2. Check to ensure that the video device is connected, and the video device driver is installed in Device Manager.
3. Check to ensure the Exposure (Iris) value under Cap Properties is normal.
4. Check the dialog box Select Video Device to make sure the correct target video device is selected.
5. Close the software and unplug the imager. Then, plug in the imager again and restart both computer and software.

3. CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your Celestron Digital Microscope Imager is a precision optical instrument and should be treated with care at all times. Follow
these suggestions and your microscope will need very little maintenance throughout its lifetime.
+
Store your imager in a clean, dry place.
+
Never use your imager where operation of such devices is
restricted. Improper use creates the risk of serious accident.
+
Only use your imager within the 23° to 120°F (-5°
to 50° C) temperature range. Try to limit sudden
temperature changes as this may create moisture in
the imager housing.
+
Do not try to access the internal components of your
imager or attempt to modify it in any way. Only
authorized technicians should perform maintenance
or repairs.
+
Keep your imager away from water and other liquids.
Never use it in rain or snow. Moisture creates the
danger of fire and electric shock.
+
If the exterior of your imager needs cleaning, wipe it with
a moist cloth.

1. INSTRUCTIONS D’UTILISATION
A. PRÉ-RÉGLAGES DU LOGICIEL
1. Lors de la première utilisation du logiciel S-Viewer, nous vous recommandons de prendre le temps d’effectuer quelques choix
de pré-réglages pour rendre son utilisation future plus simple et efficace.
2. Si plus d’un dispositif vidéo est disponible sur l’ordinateur, le logiciel vous donne le choix de sélectionner le dispositif vidéo
cible que vous souhaitez utiliser.
3. Sélectionnez Dispositif de capture vidéo dans l’onglet Option de la barre d’outils principale.
4. Dans la boîte de dialogue Sélectionner dispositif qui apparaît, vous pouvez sélectionner le dispositif vidéo cible depuis la liste.
5. Définissez ensuite la résolution vidéo. Pour commencer, sélectionnez Option—>Résolution vidéo.

6. Dans la boîte de dialogue Propriétés, vous pouvez changer la résolution des vidéos en faisant votre choix dans la liste
des options.
7. Définissez ensuite les attributs de la vidéo.
8. Sélectionnez Option—>Propriétés vidéo pour ajuster les propriétés vidéo de base.

9. La fenêtre Propriétés cap. apparaîtra.
10. L’onglet Amp. proc.vidéo vous permet d’ajuster les propriétés de Luminosité, de Contraste, de Teinte et autres.
11. L’onglet Contrôle de la caméra vous permet de pré-régler l’ouverture (Iris) de la caméra.

12. Enfin, sélectionnez la méthode d’enregistrement de vos captures.
13. Sélectionnez Option—>Option d’enregistrement, la boîte de dialogue Option d’enregistrement apparaîtra.
14. Dans la fenêtre Option d’enregistrement, vous pouvez sélectionner la manière dont vos captures sont enregistrées dans
votre ordinateur.

15. Raccourci : Cliquez sur le rectangle vertical situé à côté de la barre d’adresse des dossiers affichera la fenêtre
Sélection de dossier.
16. Une fois vos sélections effectuées, vos captures seront toujours enregistrées de cette manière lorsque vous sélectionnez
Fichier—>Enregistrer.
17. Conseil utile : Si vous souhaitez enregistrer une capture dans un emplacement différent, sélectionnez simplement
Fichier—>Enregistrer sous, pour afficher la fenêtre Enregistrer sous qui vous permettra d’enregistrer le fichier dans
un autre emplacement de votre ordinateur.

B. UTILISATION - CONTRÔLES DU MENU
MENU DOSSIER
1. Ouvrir le dossier des images : Ouvre le dossier définit par défaut pour
l’enregistrement des vidéos capturées avec le logiciel.
2. Ouvrir : Vous permet d’ouvrir les fichiers depuis leur emplacement d’enregistrement.
3. Fermer: Pour fermer toutes les images ou vidéos ouvertes.
4. Enregistrer : Enregistre la capture ou image actuelle dans le dossier par
défaut. Pour en savoir plus sur comment définir le chemin de fichier, voyez
Option—>Option d’enregistrement.
5. Enregistrer sous : Ouvrez la fenêtre Enregistrer sous pour enregistrer une
capture dans un emplacement autre que celui spécifié par défaut.
6. Quitter : Quitter l’application
MENU AFFICHAGE
1. Barre d’état : Pour afficher ou masquer la barre d’état.
2. Barre d’outils : Pour afficher ou masquer la barre d’outils.
3. Barre de traitement : Pour afficher ou masquer la barre de traitement.
4. Barre de mesure : Pour afficher ou masquer la barre d’outils de mesure.
5. Plein écran : Pour afficher la vidéo en plein écran. (Appuyez sur la touche
Éch. Pour revenir à la vue normale.)

MENU VIDÉO
1. Ajuster : Pour ouvrir la fenêtre Propriétés cap vous permettant d’ajuster les
paramètres vidéo (Couleurs, Exposition, WB, Débit d’images, Fréquence de
puissance, etc.).
2. Activer : Pour activer ou désactiver les effets de traitement de l’image en
temps réel (décrits ci-dessous) et/ou la mesure en temps réel.
3. Les autres commandes du menu Vidéo sont également accessibles via la
barre d’outils.
Les effets de la commande sont les suivants :

Note concernant le traitement Vidéo binaire : Vous
pouvez ajuster la valeur du seuil binaire (1 à 255) pour
afficher de manière dynamique. Cochez simplement la
boîte dans la fenêtre Binaire pour utiliser ou désactiver
l’effet de traitement binaire en temps réel.
4. RGB : Pour activer ou désactiver la fenêtre de contrôle
vidéo RGB en temps réel :
A. Pour pouvoir utiliser les contrôles RGB, cochez
simplement la boîte Activé dans la fenêtre
Ajustement RGB.
B. Une fenêtre de contrôle pour l’ajustement avancé du
spectre RGB est accessible depuis le bouton Avancé.
