PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Warning

Warning! Users with implanted electronic equipment, such as pacemakers and intracardiac defibrillators, must not use the CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT. Pregnant women should not use the CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT during the first trimester, and should always consult a doctor,

4midwife or physiotherapist prior to use.

Do not stimulate on the front or sides of the neck, since a drop in blood pressure can occur.

Do not use the CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT if you are connected to high-frequency surgical equipment, since this may cause burn injuries on the skin under the electrodes, as well as problems with the stimulator.

Do not use the CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT in the direct vicinity of shortwave or microwave equipment (e.g. mobile phones), since this may affect the output power of the stimulator.

Keep out of reach from children.

Note

The stimulator should only be used with skin electrodes intended for nerve and muscle stimulation. See electrode package for instructions of use.

The electrodes should only be placed on healthy skin. Avoid skin irritation by ensuring good contact between electrodes and skin. Hypersensitivity can occur in rare cases. If skin irritation should occur, stimulation with the CEFAR MYO XT/ CEFAR ACTIV XT should be temporarily discontinued. If condition persists, seek medical advice.

Switch off stimulation before removing the electrodes from the skin. If an electrode comes off, shut off the stimulation before picking it up. Getting electrical stimulation through the fingers is unpleasant but not harmful.

Exercise caution when using electrodes smaller than 14 cm², as the current density in some cases exceeds 2 mA rms/cm² and increases risk for burn injuries.

Be careful with stimulating in the heart region.

CEFAR Medical AB does not take any responsibility for any electrode placements other than recommended.

Muscle soreness may occur after stimulation with CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT, but usually disappears within a week.

Only Cefar accessories should be used with the CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT.

Use the CEFAR MYO XT/CEFAR ACTIV XT only as stated in the user’s guide.

Inspect the equipment prior to use.

Never use more than one stimulator at the time.

Never open the battery lid during stimulation.

The stimulator meets the requirements of MDD 93/42/EEC, including the EMC requirements. This, however, is no guarantee that the equipment will not be affected by electromagnetic disturbances.

If the stimulator is not used for some time (approximately 3 months), the non-rechargeable batteries should be removed from the stimulator.

STEP-BY-STEP USE

IMPORTANT! You can reduce the amplitude at any time during stimulation using the button. If you feel any pain or discomfort, reduce the amplitude immediately. You can always use the button to stop a stimulation session.

1. Connect two electrodes to a cord and the cord to one of the

6stimulator channels.

2.Carefully wash and dry the body part where the electrodes will be attached.

3.Attach the electrodes to the body. Place the two electrode pairs that are controlled by the same amplitude buttons on muscles that are about the same size.

4.Switch the stimulator on with the button.

5.Use the button to select upper or lower body. The selected body part is indicated in the display.

6.Select the program type by pressing until the desired program type (Sport, Fitness or Wellness) is visible in the display.

7.Press P until the symbol and number of the desired program are visible in the display.

8.Start stimulation by setting the desired amplitude for each channel using and .

9.When the program is done, the amplitude automatically returns to 0.

10.You can always stop the session by pressing.

You can pause the program by pressing P. appears in the display. Press P again when you want to resume the session. The program picks up where it left off. If the stimulator has been paused for more than five minutes, it switches off automatically to spare the battery.

Most of the NMES programs have intermittent stimulation i.e. the stimulation changes between stimulation and rest periods. Some of these programs offer active rest i.e. stimulation during rest time. The amplitude drops with 50 % the first time the program switches to active rest. Adjust the amplitude until muscle vibrations occur. You can increase or decrease the amplitude at any time during the rest period. The programs switch automatically between stimulation and rest. The amplitude graph blinks during rest.

Ten seconds after you set the amplitude, the key lock is activated so that no unintentional changes can be made. appears in the display. To deactivate the key lock, press .
