1 Instruction Manual

1.1Important Safeguards

PLEASE NOTE

1.Read all instructions before using.

2.Do not immerse the unit in liquid.

3.Children must be closely supervised when near the unit. Do not let children operate unit without close supervision.

4.If there appears to be any damage or if the unit shows signs of malfunctioning, do not use the appliance. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for inspection and repair.

In the following pages, you’ll learn to properly care for and safely operate your appliance, helping it to perform at peak efficiency for years to come. 2 Safety

This chapter provides the user with important safety guidelines to follow when setting up and operating the appliance. This product complies with the required safety regulations. Improper use can result in personal injury or property damages.

2.1 Intended use

This appliance is only intended for weighing small items indoors or in sheltered, enclosed spaces.

2.2 Safety information

Please note

►Never drop or strike the scale as it can easily damage the unit.

►Never place hot items directly on the weighing platform.

►Never use or store the scale in excessively hot or moist conditions.

►Do not store the scale in an upright position.

►Do not use this scale for legal trade.

►Do not store heavy items on top of the scale.

►When raising the display to the ready position (about 110°), do not force it past the ready position as it can damage the frame.

►Examine the appliance for any visible external damage prior to use. Do not use the appliance if it appears damaged.

►Only qualified electricians trained by the manufacturer may carry out any repairs on the unit.

►Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs during the guarantee period, otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages.

►Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.

►Never clean any part of the appliance with chemicals or flammable fluids.

►Due to the risk of electrocution, never attempt to touch or repair live wires or subassemblies!

►Never attempt to open the housing on the appliance under any circumstances. There is a danger of electrocution whenever the housing is open. In addition, the appliance will not function properly if the housing is opened.

2.4. Unpacking

Please note

►Examine the shipment for its completeness and for any visible damages.

►Immediately notify the carrier, the insurance and the supplier about any incomplete shipment or damages as a result of inadequate packaging or due to transportation.

2.5Packaging Safety Information

Warning

Packaging materials are not toys and should be disposed of properly!

►Do not allow children to play with packaging materials due to risk of suffocation

2.6Disposal of the packaging

Caso believes in the importance of recycling and has selected packaging materials that not only protect your appliance from damage during transit, but can be recycled to minimize any ecological impact.

Recycling the packaging materials preserves raw materials and reduces waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to a recycling collection point for proper disposal.

Please note

►If possible, keep the original packaging for the device for the duration of the guarantee period in the event a return is necessary

2.7Setup location requirements:

In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil the following prerequisites:

The device must be set up on a firm, flat and horizontal surface with sufficient load-bearing capacity for the scale and the maximum weight of the food that should be weighed.

Choose the setup location in such a way that children cannot reach the device.

Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.

2.8Rating Plate

The rating plate with the performance data can be found on the back of the device

3 Operation and Handling

3.1 To replace batteries in the display

Lift the display upward to the ready position (about 110°)

The back of the display (where the CASO logo is found) can be removed by sliding it downward with your thumbs

Place 2 AAA batteries in the position indicated in the battery compartment. When finished, slide the panel back into place.

Please note

►During operation, if the display shows “LO-1” it means that the display batteries are low and need to be replaced.

3.2To replace batteries in the base

Put the scale in the folded-flat storage position

Turn it over and remove the battery panel.

Place 4x AAA batteries in the position indicated in the battery compartment. When finished, put the battery panel back in place.

Please note

►During operation, if the display shows “LO-2” it means that the base batteries are low and need to be replaced.

3.3Turn on/off the scale

With the base lying on a flat, level surface, simply lift the display up to the ready position (about 110°).

The scale will automatically sound a signal tone and the display will light up to indicate that the device is on. Once zeros appear on the display the scale is ready for use.

To turn off the scale, simply lower the display back to the flat, storage position.

3.4 Auto-Shutoff Feature

If left in the ready position for more than approx. 3 minutes and

30 seconds, the scale will automatically shut off to conserve battery life. To turn the device back on while in the ready position, press approx. 2 seconds on the weighing platform until the signal tone sounds and the display lights up.

ATTENTION

►When raising the display to the ready position (about 110°), do not force it past the ready position as it can damage the frame.

►Always operate the scale on a flat, stable, level surface.

►Always close the scale and lay it flat for storage when not in use.

3.5To weigh items in standard weigh mode

1.Make sure the scale is in the ready position and the display is lit.

2.Press the “g/lb” button on the display repeatedly to cycle through weights in grams, pounds or ounces.

3.Place the object(s) to be weighed on the scale’s weighing platform. The total weight will appear on the display.

ATTENTION

This scale is intended to weigh items up to 11.02 lb/oz or 176.37 oz or 5000g in total weight. Do not overload the scale or the sensor could be damaged.

3.6 To weigh items in tare mode

Tare Mode allows you to make allowances for the weight of objects on the scale you don’t necessarily want to weigh, such as a mixing bowl. It also allows you to re-zero the scale with items already on the weighing platform, allowing you to accurately weigh additional items separately.

• Make sure the scale is in the ready position and the display is lit.

•Press the “g/lb” button on the display repeatedly to cycle through weights in grams, pounds or ounces.

•Place the first object to be weighed on the weighing platform.

•Press the “TARE” button to re-zero the display and weigh additional items.

•If the item you first weighed is a container, for instance, fill it with the second item to be weighed and place it back on the scale to display the weight of the container’s contents but not the container.

•You can press the “TARE” button after adding as many additional items as you like to re-zero the scale.

•When an item is removed from the weighing platform while in Tare Mode and the display has been re-zeroed, the negative weight of the object will be displayed.

•To exit Tare Mode, remove all items from the weighing platform and press the “TARE” button.

3.7 Error Messages

The following error messages may appear on the display to notify you of a potential problem:

LO-1: The batteries in the display are low and need to be replaced.

LO-2: The batteries in the base are low and need to be replaced.

EEEEE: There is too much weight on the platform and the scale should be unloaded immediately.

UNST: The scale or the objects being weighed are moving (unstable) or the weighing platform is not level.

4 Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides important information on properly cleaning and maintaining your scale. Please follow these instructions to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.

4.1 Safety information

Warning

►Never submerge the unit in water.

►Do not put it in the dishwasher

►Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive cleaning agents.

►Do not attempt to scrape off stubborn grime with hard or abrasive tools.

4.2 Cleaning

To clean the scale, simply wipe the outer surfaces with a slightly damp cloth as necessary. Dry thoroughly immediately afterwards.

5 Troubleshooting

This chapter offers a few possible solutions to minor problems.

Warning

►Only qualified electricians, who have been trained by the manufacturer, may carry out any repairs on electrical equipment.

►Improperly performed repairs can lead to personal injury or damage to the device.

5.1Device won’t turn on.

Make sure the batteries in both the display and base are new and that they are positioned with the proper polarity as indicated in the battery compartment.

5.2 The displayed weight keeps changing/ won’t settle.

Check the scale to make sure it is on a flat, stable, level surface. Also check to make sure the object being weighed isn’t rolling or moving on the weighing platform.

5.3 The display shows “LO-1.”

The batteries in the display are low and need to be replaced.

5.4 The display shows “LO-2.”

The batteries in the base are low and need to be replaced.

5.5 The display shows “EEEEE.”

There is too much weight on the platform and the scale should be unloaded immediately.

5.6 The display shows “UNST.

The scale or the objects being weighed are moving (unstable) or the weighing platform isn’t level.

6 Disposal of the Old Device

Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety.

If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the nonrecyclable waste under any circumstances.

►Please take your old appliance to the nearest recycling center for safe disposal.

►Ensure that your old device is stored safely away from children until it is taken away.

7 Warranty (USA)

We provide a 12 month guarantee for this product, commencing from the date of sale, for faults which are attributable to production or material faults.

The guarantee does not include damages, which were incurred as a result of improper handling or use, as well as malfunctions which only have a minor effect on the function or the value of the device. Consumables, transit damages, inasmuch as we are not responsible for these, as well as damages, which were incurred as a result of any repairs that were not performed by us, are also excluded from the guarantee entitlements.

This device is designed for use in domestic situations and has the appropriate performance levels.

Any use in commercial situations is only covered under the guarantee to the extent that it would be comparable with the stresses of being used in a domestic situation. It is not intended for any additional, commercial use.

In the event of justified complaints, we will repair the faulty device at our discretion or replace it with a trouble-free device.

Any pending faults must be reported within 14 days of delivery.

All further claims are excluded.

8 Warranty (Europe)

11.2 Consignes de sécurités générales

►Ne pas jeter ou faire tomber la balance, elle pourrait dans le cas contraire être facilement endommagée.

►Ne placer jamais des articles chauds directement sur la plate-forme de pesée.

►N'utiliser ou ne stocker jamais la balance losque les conditions sont excessivement chaudes ou humides.

►Ne stocker la balance à la verticale.

►N'utiliser pas cette balance à des fins commerciales .

►Lors du levage de l'écran jusqu'à la position correcte (environ 110°), éviter de le forcer dépasser cette position, car on risque d'endommager le cadre.

►Avant son utilisation s'assurer qu'il ne comporte pas de défauts visuels. Ne jamais mettre en marche un appareil détérioré

►Les réparations doivent être effectuées uniquement par des électriciens agréés par le constructeur.

►► Pendant la période de garantie, les réparations doivent

être effectuées uniquement par un service après-vente agréé par le constructeur, sinon en cas de dommages le recours en garantie est supprimé.

►Les pièces défectueuses doivent être remplacées uniquement par des rechanges d'origine. Ces pièces sont seules capables de répondre aux exigences de sécurité.

►Pour nettoyer l'appareil, ne jamais utiliser des substances chimiques ou des liquides inflammables.

►En raison du risque d'électrocution , ne jamais essayer de toucher ou réparer les câbles électriques ou des sousensembles!

►Ne jamais chercher en aucun cas à ouvrir le boîtier sur l'appareil . Il y a danger d'électrocution si le boîtier est

ouvert. De plus, l'appareil ne fonctionnera pas correctement si le boîtier est ouvert.

11.4 Déballage

REMARQUE

►Vérifier l'intégralité de la livraison et les éventuels défauts visuels.

►En cas de livraison incomplète ou de dégâts en raison d'un emballage insuffisant ou du transport veuillez en avertir immédiatement l'expéditeur, l'assurance et le fournisseur.

11.5 Information relatives à la sécurité offerte par les emballages

ATTENTION

Le matériel d'emballage ne sont pas des jouets et doivent être éliminés!

►Ne laissez pas les enfant jouer avec les matériaux d'emballage en raison du risque de suffocation.

11.6Elimination des emballages

L'emballage protège l'appareil contre les dégâts de transport. Les matériaux d'emballage ont été choisis selon des critères environnementaux et de techniques d'élimination, c'est pourquoi ils sont recyclables.

Le retour des emballages dans le circuit des matières épargne les matières premières et restreint le volume des déchets. Eliminez les emballages inutiles dans les points de collecte destinés au système de recyclage avec le logo

«Point vert».

REMARQUE

► Veuillez si possible conserver l'emballage original pendant la durée de la garantie de l'appareil afin de pouvoir emballer correctement l'appareil en cas de recours en garantie.

11.7 Mise en place

Pour un fonctionnement sûr et sans problème de l'appareil, son emplacement d'utilisation doit être choisi selon les critères suivants :

L'appareil doit être disposé sur un support solide, plat, à niveau horizontal dont la capacité de charge est suffisante pour l´appareil et pour les choses les plus lourdes devant être peser.

Choisir un emplacement de sorte que les enfants ne puissent pas accéder l'appareil.

Ne disposez pas l'appareil dans un environnement chaud, mouillé ou très humide ou à proximité de matériaux inflammables.

11.8 Plaque signalétique

La plaque signalétique indiquant les données de puissance se trouve à l'arrière de l'appareil.

12 Commonde et fonctionnement

12.1Alimentation par piles

►Levez l'écran jusqu'à la position correcte (environ 110°).

Ouvrez l'arrière de l'écran (où se trouve le logo CASO) et faites-le glisser vers le bas avec vos pouces.

Insérez 2 piles AAA dans la position indiquée dans le compartiment à batterie. Lorsque vous avez terminé, remettez le panneau en place.

REMARQUE

►Dans le fonctionnement, si l'écran est “LO-1”, cela signifie que les piles sont faibles et doivent être remplacées.

12.2Changer les piles dans la base

Mettez la balance à plat dans la position de stockage.

Retournez la balance et déposez le panneau.

Insérez 4 piles AAA dans la position indiquée dans le compartiment à batterie. Lorsque vous avez terminé, remettez le panneau en place.

REMARQUE

►Dans le fonctionnement, si l'écran est “LO-2”, cela signifie que les piles sont faibles et doivent être remplacées.

12.3Marche/arrêt de la balance

La base se trouve sur une surface plane. Veuillez levez l'écran jusqu'à la position correcte (environ 110°).

Un signal sonore automatiquement et l'écran s'allumera pour indiquer que l'appareil est en marche. Quand les zéros apparissent sur l'écran, la balance est préte à l'emploi.

Pour arrêter la balance, mettez la balance à plat dans la position de stockage.

12.4 Arrêt automatique

Si la balance est dans la position de stockage pour plus de 3 minutes et 30 sécondes, elle arrête automatiquement pour économiser la batterie. Pour mettre l'appareil en marche pendant la position de stockage, appuyer sur la plateforme de pesée pour environ 2 sécondes jusqu'à ce qu'un signal sonore retentisse et l'écran s'allume.

ATTENTION

►Lors du levage de l'écran jusqu'à la position correcte (environ 110°), évitez de le forcer dépasser cette position, car on risque d'endommager le cadre.

►Travailler sur un sol stable et horizontal.

►Il faut toujours fermer la balance et la stocker à plat.

12.5Effectuer des pesées en mode standard

4.Assurez-vous que la balance est prête à être utilisé et que l'écran est allumée.

5.Appuyez sur la touche “g/lb” de l'écran plusieurs fois pour naviguer entre grammes/livres et onces.

3. Placez les objets à peser sur la plateforme de la balance. Le poids total apparaît sur l'écran.

ATTENTION

Cette balance est prévue pour les pesées jusqu'à 11.02 lb/oz ou 176.37 oz ou 5000g du poids total. Ne surchargez pas la balance ou le capteur soit endommagé.

12.6 Fonction tare

Le mode TARE permet donc de prendre en compte le poids des objets sur la balance que vous ne voulez pas peser nécessairement comme un bol. Il vous permet aussi de remettre la balance à zéro avec des articles qui sont déjà sur la plateforme de pesée vous permettant de peser précisément les articles supplémentaires séparément.

• Assurez que la balance est prête à être utilisée et que l'écran est allumée

•Appuyez sur la touche “g/lb” de l'écran plusieurs fois pour naviguer entre grammes/livres et onces.

•Placez les objets à peser sur la plateforme de la balance. Le poids total apparaît sur l'écran.

•Appuyez la touche“TARE” pour remettre l'écran à zéro et pesez des articles supplémentaires.

•Si le premier article que vous avez pesé est un récipient par exemple, remplissez-le avec le deuxième article et le mettez encore une fois sur la balance pour voir le poids du contenu du récipient sur l'écran mais pas le récipient soi-même.

•Vous pouvez appuyer la touche “TARE” après avoir ajouté autant que vous le voulez pour remettre la balance à zéro.

•Quand vous enlevez un article de la plateforme pendant le mode TARE et l'écran a été remis à zéro, le poids négatif de l'objet apparaît sur l'écran.

•Pour quitter le mode “TARE”, enlevez tous les articles de la plateforme et appuyez la touche "TARE".

12.7Messages d'erreur

Les messages suivants peuvent apparaître sur l'écran pour vous informer qu'il y a un problème potentiel:

LO-1: Les piles dans l'écran sont faibles et doivent être remplacées.

LO-2: Les piles dans la base sont faibles et doivent être remplacées.

EEEEE: Il y a trop de poids sur la plateforme et la balance doive être déchargéee immédiatement.

UNST: La balance ou les objets à peser se bougent (instable) ou la plateforme n'est pas horizontale.
