About This Manual
Depending on the model of your watch, its display may have dark figures on a light •
background or light figures on a dark background. The display also may be with a
graphic area or without a graphic area. All samples in this manual show dark figures
on a light background, with a graphic area.
Button operations are indicated using the letters shown in the illustration. •
For the sake of simplicity, the sample displays in this manual do not show the analog •
hands of the watch.
Each section of this manual provides you with the information you need to perform •
operations in each mode. Further details and technical information can be found in
the “Reference” section.

Press • C to change from mode to mode.
In any mode (except when a setting screen is on the display), press • B to illuminate
the display.

Timekeeping
This watch features separate digital and analog timekeeping. The procedures for
setting the digital time and analog time are different.
In the Timekeeping Mode, you can press • D to change the display format as shown
below.

Digital Time and Date
Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view a digital display of the current time and
date. When setting the digital time, you can also configure settings for summer time
(Daylight Saving Time or DST), your Home City code (the code for the city where you
normally use the watch), the 12/24-hour format.
This watch is preset with a number of city codes, each of which represents the time •
zone where that city is located. When setting the digital time, it is important that you
select the correct city code for your Home City. If your location is not included in the
preset city codes, select the preset city code that is in the same time zone as your
location.
Note that all of the times for the World Time Mode city codes are displayed in •
accordance with the digital time and date settings you configure in the Timekeeping
Mode.
After you correctly set your Home City time and date, you can set the watch up for •
timekeeping with a different city code simply by changing the Home City code in the
Timekeeping Mode.
To set the digital time and date
Press 3. C to move the flashing in the sequence shown below to select the other
settings.

In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down 1. A until the
seconds start to flash, which indicates the setting
screen.
Press 2. C twice to move the flashing to the Home City
code setting, and then use B and D to select the code
you want.
Make sure you select your Home City code before •
changing any other setting.

Table”.

Resetting the seconds only (without changing the DST, Home City code, hour, or •
minute setting) causes the analog minute hand setting to be adjusted automatically.
See “Digital Time Daylight Saving Time (DST) Setting” below for details about the •
DST setting.
The 12-hour/24-hour timekeeping format you select in the Timekeeping Mode is •
applied in all modes.
Digital Time Daylight Saving Time (DST) Setting
Daylight Saving Time (summer time) advances the digital time setting by one hour
from Standard Time. Remember that not all countries or even local areas use Daylight
Saving Time.
To toggle the Timekeeping Mode digital time between DST and Standard Time

In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down 1. A until the
seconds start to flash, which indicates the setting
screen.
Press 2. C once to display the DST setting screen.
Press 3. D to toggle between Daylight Saving Time

The DST indicator appears on the Timekeeping Mode •
screen to indicate that Daylight Saving Time is turned on.

Analog Time Setting
Perform the procedure below when the time indicated by the analog hands does not
match the time of the digital display.
To adjust the analog time
In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down 1. D for about three
seconds until the lower right display first shows H-SET
and then the current digital time. This is the analog hand
adjustment mode.
Press 2. D to advance the analog time setting by 20
seconds.
Holding down • D advances the analog time setting at
high speed.
If you need to advance the analog time setting a long •
way, hold down D until the time starts advancing at
high speed, and then press B. This locks the highspeed hand movement, so you can release the button.
High-speed hand movement continues until you press
any button. It will also stop automatically after the time
advances 12 hours or if an alarm (daily alarm, Hourly
Time Signal, or countdown beeper) starts to sound.

Press 3. A to exit the setting screen.
The watch will automatically adjust the minute hand slightly to match its internal •
second count when you exit the setting screen.
World Time

To toggle a city code time between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time
DST indicator
You will not be able to change the DST/Standard Time setting of the city code •
currently selected as your Home City.
Note that you cannot switch between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time while •
is selected as the city code.
World Time digitally displays the current time in 48 cities
(29 time zones) around the world.
All of the operations in this section are performed in the •
World Time Mode, which you enter by pressing C.
To view the time in another city
In the World Time Mode, press D to scroll eastwardly
through city codes.
For full information about city codes, see the “City Code •
Table”.
If the current time shown for a city is wrong, it probably •
means there is a problem with your Timekeeping
Mode time and/or Home City code settings. Go to
the Timekeeping Mode and make the necessary
adjustments.
In the World Time Mode, use 1. D to display the city code
whose Standard Time/Daylight Saving Time setting you
want to change.
Hold down 2. A for about one second to toggle between
Daylight Saving Time (DST indicator displayed) and
Standard Time (DST indicator not displayed).
The DST indicator is on the display whenever you display •
a city code for which Daylight Saving Time is turned on.
Note that the DST/Standard Time setting affects only •
the currently displayed city code. Other city codes are
not affected.

To set an alarm time
When setting the alarm time using the 12-hour format, take care to set the time •
correctly as a.m. (no indicator) or p.m. (P indicator).
Press 4. A to exit the setting screen.
Alarm Operation
The alarm sounds at the preset time for about 20 seconds, regardless of the mode
the watch is in.
Alarm and Hourly Time Signal operations are performed in accordance with the •
Timekeeping Mode digital time.
To stop the alarm tone after it starts to sound, press any button. •
To test the alarm
In the Alarm Mode, hold down D to sound the alarm.
To turn the alarm and the hourly time signal on and off
You can set one Daily Alarm. When the alarm is turned on,
the alarm tone sounds when the alarm time is reached.
You can turn on an Hourly Time Signal that causes the
watch to beep twice every hour on the hour.
Pressing • D cycles through the available alarm and
hourly time signal combinations.
All of the operations in this section are performed in the •
Alarm Mode, which you enter by pressing C.
In the Alarm Mode, hold down 1. A until the hour setting
of the alarm time starts to flash, which indicates the
setting screen.
This operation automatically turns on the alarm. •
Press 2. C to move the flashing between the hour and
minute settings.
While a setting is flashing, use 3. D (+) and B (–) to
change it.
In the Alarm Mode, you can use 1. D to cycle through the
available alarm and hourly time signal combinations as
shown below.

The stopwatch lets you measure elapsed time, split times,
and two finishes.
The display range of the stopwatch is 59 minutes, 59.99 •
seconds.
The stopwatch continues to run, restarting from zero after •
it reaches its limit, until you stop it.
The stopwatch measurement operation continues even if •
you exit the Stopwatch Mode.
Exiting the Stopwatch Mode while a split time is frozen •
on the display clears the split time and returns to elapsed
time measurement.

Countdown Timer
The countdown timer can be set within a range of one

When the setting you want to change is flashing, use 3. B and D to change it as
described.

To use the countdown timer

Countdown Timer Mode, hold down A until the current
countdown start time starts to flash, which indicates the
setting screen.
If the countdown start time is not displayed, use the •
procedure under “To use the countdown timer” to
display it.
Press 2. C to move the flashing between the hours and
minutes digits.

• You can set a start time in the range of 1 minute to
24 hours in 1-minute increments.
Press D while in the Countdown Timer Mode to start the
countdown timer.
The countdown timer operation continues even if you exit •
the Countdown Timer Mode.
Press • D while a countdown operation is in progress to
pause it. Press D again to resume the countdown.
To completely stop a countdown operation, first pause •
it (by pressing D), and then press A. This returns the
countdown time to its starting value.
Illumination
An LED (light-emitting diode) illuminates the display for
easy reading in the dark.

Illumination Precautions
The illumination provided by the light may be hard to see when viewed under direct •
sunlight.
Illumination automatically turns off whenever an alarm sounds. •
Frequent use of illumination runs down the batteries. •
To turn on illumination
In any mode (except when a setting screen is on the display), press B to turn on
illumination.
