PLEASE DON'T!
• Never boil water while the lid is open. The kettle will not shut off and boiling water may splash out of the kettle. This can cause severe injuries.
• Never fill kettle with anything but water.
• Do not add instant soups or any other soluble to the kettle. Particles can enter the water level indicator and make it inoperable.
• Do not use the kettle to thaw food of any kind.
• Do not use the kettle to make sauces or to melt cheese, butter or any other items.
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
Read all Important Safeguards and Operating Instructions before using the H2O. Discard the first filling of boiling water to remove any dust and residues from the manufacturing process.
BOILING WATER
1. Remove kettle from base.
2. Open the lid by pushing the lid button.
3. Fill with the desired amount of fresh cold water. The kettle has outside markings in cups and ounces.
4. Close lid. CAUTION / DANGEROUS: never fill above the MAX line of the outside water level indicator. There is also a MAX line and the word MAX engraved on the inside of the kettle. If you fill above the MAX line, boiling water will push out of the pouring spout. This can cause severe injuries and burns.
5. Place kettle on Power Base.
6. Plug cord into wall outlet.
7. Gently push the On switch down. The Water Level Indicator will be illuminated and the kettle begins to heat the water.
8. When the water has boiled, the kettle will turn off automatically, the switch will jump up and the light will shut off.
9. Lift kettle from base and pour water out slowly.
10. Replace kettle.
11. To bring the remaining water to a boil again, gently push the On switch down.

NOTE:
If the kettle is "ON" and you remove it from the base, the power base will shut off by itself.
HELPFUL HINTS:
• Never try to boil water with the lid open.
• Do not leave water standing in the kettle. Discard unused water.
• If the kettle is "ON" without water, the kettle will automatically turn itself off after a short while.
• You can lift the kettle from its base to turn it off at any time.
• You can also lift the on switch to turn the kettle off at any time.
CLEANING
• Always unplug cord of power base before cleaning.
• Make sure kettle is cold.
• Clean the exterior surface with a clean, damp, soft cloth.
• Never use abrasive cleaners or scouring agents.
• Rinse out kettle and wipe dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Attention:
a) Over time the inside bottom of the kettle may change color slightly. This is
caused by the intense heat of the heating element.
b) If your water has a high iron content brownish stains may appear on the
inside of the pot (this is also known as "boiler scale"). These stains can be wiped away with a cloth and a mild abrasive. Rinse kettle thoroughly with fresh water.
DECALCIFICATION
Hard water can leave calcium spots inside the kettle. Use a commercial descaling agent and follow the instructions that come with the agent.
NOTE: Make sure kettle is cold. Use of V
inegar
you can also use white vinegar to descale the inside. Fill the kettle with 2 cups of water (16 oz) and add 6 tablespoons of white vinegar. Bring to a boil. Discard the solution and repeat if necessary. Rinse the kettle once or twice with fresh cold water.
Use of DURGOL
Capresso and many European companies recommend "DURGOL" liquid decalcifying agent. It removes calcium deposits up to 20 times faster than vinegar. Diluted DURGOL can also be used for coffee makers, steam irons (cold only!) and many other needs in your household.
• For light calcium stains: Put a few drops of DURGOL onto a paper towel and
wipe the inside bottom of the kettle clean. Repeat if necessary. Rinse thoroughly with fresh cold water.
• For hard stains: Pour 1 oz. of DURGOL into kettle, just to cover bottom and
let sit for 5 minutes. Discard and wipe bottom dry with a paper towel. Rinse thoroughly with fresh cold water.
A mail order form is included to order DURGOL directly from us.
