The imageFORMULA ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV networked document scanners
are secure, full-featured, and compact devices for easily capturing, converting, and
distributing documents. These scanners are designed to improve the security of
information being shared across federal networks, while maintaining information
quality, increasing manageability, and lowering costs.
Application
Common Access Cards (CACs), issued by the Department of Defense
(DoD), and other Personal Identification Verification (PIV)-compliant
cards, are components of the federal government’s initiative to con
trol access to their facilities and information systems. The ScanFront
300/300P CAC/PIV scanners are designed to recognize these cards
in order to comply with federal government assurance policies and
mandates for sending digital data. The need for secure network
scanning can be found in government entities beyond the DoD such
as the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, Justice,
Energy, and the Treasury, as well as the Environmental Protection
Agency, and more. No matter the environment, secure scanning is
necessary to increase efficiency, reduce fraud, and protect privacy.

ESecure Document Scanning
The ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners employ user authentication by interfacing with card readers for CAC/PIV card scanning
and requiring password entry for physical device access. Document
data can be encrypted and sent in secure e-mails, and digital
signatures (with no repudiation) for further security. Administrators
can also impose additional security by configuring their own CAC/
PIV card-specific options, controlling e-mails and security features,
and managing trusted certificates. Containing no local hard-drive,
the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners do not pose any threat
by storing information. The built-in Kensington lock slot serves as
a theft deterrent when compatible locks are secured.
Compact, User-Friendly, and Easy-To-Use Design
Small in size, the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners allow for
clear preview of scanned documents with a color LCD. Four USB
ports help to easily connect the necessary CAC/PIV-compliant card
reader (sold separately) as well as give the flexibility to connect
other peripherals, such as a keyboard or mouse, to make installation and operation easier. By preconfiguring repetitive scan tasks
and sending information simultaneously to destinations such as
e-mail, shared folders, and FTP servers, electronic files are easily
distributed to all stages of the workflow.

Increase Manageability and Lower Total Costs
The ScanFront Administration Tool allows IT managers to remotely
view ScanFront configurations, update firmware, and change/
back up/restore the settings for single or multiple devices. This
centralized management helps increase security and control. The
ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners connect seamlessly with
standard, affordable card readers. Similar products often require
involved setup processes and are restricted in the types of compat
ible card readers. And the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners
do not require a dedicated PC, resulting in lower overall costs.
