Before attaching the eyepiece, remove any covers that would interfere with attaching the eyepiece to the spotting scope body. Keep exterior lens covers handy to protect exposed lenses whenever you’re not viewing through the Intrepid spotting scope.
Attach the eyepiece Adjust the eyecup
The adjustable eyecup twists up and down so that you can observe the full field of view even if you wear eyeglasses. Twist the eyecup down when viewing with eyeglasses or sunglasses and twist up when viewing without glasses.
2. Turn and tighten the retaining ring to securely attach or remove the eyepiece.

Fine Focus Dial
The versatile magnification of the Intrepid spotting scope allows you to view a wide field of view at lower power, then zoom in on distant details.
Adjust the magnication
Change the magnification of your spotting scope by simply turning the magnification adjustment ring.
• Increase the magnification by turning the adjustment ring in a counter-clockwise direction.
• Decrease the magnification by turning the adjustment ring in a clockwise direction.
Caution: Never look directly into the sun (or any other intense light) with your Intrepid spotting scope. This could cause damage to the retina and cornea of your eyes to the point of causing blindness.
Fine focus of the Intrepid spotting scope
After setting the magnification, you can adjust the fine focus. This does more than allow you to see critical details, it also ensures fatigue-free viewing. When you change the magnification, some refocusing is usually required.
Handle rapid and fine adjustments with just the tip of a finger:
• Slowly turn the rapid focus dial until the subject is nearly in focus.
• Turn the fine focus dial to pick out the finest details.

Flexible viewing angle
The tripod mounting collar of the Intrepid allows you to rotate the spotting scope body for greater viewing flexibility.
• Loosen the mounting collar by turning the thumbscrew to the left.
• Rotate the spotting scope body to a comfortable viewing angle.
• Keep the scope body in your preferred viewing position by securing the mounting collar with a turn of the thumbscrew to the right.
Extendable sunshade
Extend this fitted hood to effectively block out disturbing stray light. The sunshade also shields the objective lens from mechanical damage and guards against soiling by fingerprints and raindrops.
Attaching the Intrepid to a tripod
Use a sturdy tripod or car window mount as a mount for steady viewing through the Intrepid spotting scope. Simply secure the tripod mount foot on a quick-release plate or mounting plate of the tripod head.
Sunshade shield is easily extended or retracted.
Mounting Collar Thumbscrew
The tripod foot attaches to any tripod or car window mount that uses 1/4 x 20 screw threads.

Keep lenses clean
Keep your Intrepid spotting scope in its protective padded case while viewing. If your spotting scope gets wet, be sure to dry it out thoroughly before packing it away. For longterm storage, choose a dark, well-ventilated place.
For the best viewing, regularly clean the exterior lenses:
Note: Use lens cleaning fluid and optical paper to clean lenses. Never use facial tissue, heavy cotton, or lenses—these materials can scratch the surface of a lens.
• Remove any dust or grit from the lens before wiping. Use a can of pressurized air, soft camel hair brush or an acrylic optical brush.
• Clear lenses of smudges, fingerprints or eyelash oil. Fog the lens with your breath, then use a non-abrasive lens cloth to clean the lens.
