Installation and Administration
Some Information Spaces require the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) heap
size to be increased. Configure the -Xmx parameter appropriately. Refer to the Increasing the memory use of a Polestar server whitepaper, for further information.
Information Space Creation and Indexing
Information Spaces that have an empty dataset are unusable.
An Information Space can be created only on a single Universe: within
the Manage Spaces tab you can only select a single Universe to select objects for your Information Space. You can however create multiple Spaces on a single Universe.
While creating an Information Space within the Manage Spaces tab you
must select a minimum of one measure and one dimension.
Multiple contexts are not supported while designing your Space within
the Manage Spaces tab.
Universe Prompts are not supported.
Information Spaces that have partial results (due to the Universe query
result being partial) cannot be indexed correctly.
Exploration and Analysis
It is not possible to bookmark an Information Space using Send To...
within Safari.
The average displayed in the chart legend is computed from the filtered
dataset, not the initial dataset.
Measures that have an aggregation method of None cannot be used in
the measure facets but the values do appear in the data table.
Measures that are of non-numeric type are not supported. For example,
character, long name, and date.
The date formatting of Information Spaces when exploring are based
upon the Information Space locale, elsewhere dates are displayed using the YYYY/MM/DD formatting.
Polestar partially complies with section 508. The majority of the actions
can be performed with only the keyboard.
A maximum of two measures can be selected at one time.
When selecting multiple measures, only the primary measure is displayed
within the breadcrumb.

Custom calculations for measures are not supported. For example: Cost
= Sales Revenue - Sales Margin.

Installation and Administration
When running an installation repair, the CMS host name is removed from
the command line of the Polestar servers within the Central Configuration Manager (CCM). To ensure that the host name is added:
1. Launch the CCM.
2. Ensure that the Polestar servers are stopped.
3. Right-click the Polestar Master Server and click Properties.
4. Locate the following text within the value of Command:
="-ns##
5. Within the text, type with the name of the host CMS, for example:
="-ns#CMSHost#
6. Repeat these steps for the other Polestar Servers.
After installation and deployment of Polestar, the first exclusive logon into
Polestar can take longer than subsequent logons.
Users that belong to the administrators group are able to see Information
Spaces that are saved in favorite folders of other users.
If a machine hosting Polestar servers changes IP address, Polestar might
not be able to contact the servers (for example, when using VM Ware images).
Delete the servers (including all duplicate instances) within the Central Management Console (not the Central Configuration Manager), restart the servers within the Central Configuration Manager, and then enable the new server instances within the Central Management Console.
After installation, the Polestar setup may not enable the Polestar servers.
Manually enable them within the Central Configuration Manager.

Polestar server failing to start

Polestar server failing to start
If a Polestar server fails to start, a log file is not created in the logging
folder specified in the command line of the server.
Ensure that the server command line respects the following syntax:
\\Webserver\C$\Program Files\Business Ob jects\Polestar11.5\poleMast.exe" //RS//BOBJPolestarMasterSer vice --StartParams="-ns#Webserver#-loggingPath#C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Log ging#-trace#false#-servers#polestarMaster" --JvmMx="1024"
This example is specific to the Polestar Master Server and Polestar is installed on the C:\ drive.

Bookmarks within Firefox

In Firefox, a bookmark opens within the bookmark panel (the left panel)
instead of the main panel.
To ensure that the bookmark opens in the main panel:
1. Right-click the bookmark and click Properties.
2. Clear the Load this bookmark in the sidebar check box.
3. Click OK.
