Creating Data Stream
fonts
New 300 DPI fonts
installed
When you create Data Stream fonts in Label Studio (Tools > Create Data Stream
fonts), Label Studio generates both 300 and 600 DPI resolutions of the font. The
correct resolution font is chosen for you when you design and print the label.
The following 300 DPI fonts are now installed with Label Toolbox:
Enhanced Distribution Labels (EDLs) are barcoded labels that are part of the
USPS’s Surface Visibility System.
Label Studio now includes design files and layout templates to get you started
producing Enhanced Distribution Labels. PCL fonts, for use with the PCL design
files, are included also.
Windows design filesThe new Windows design files are as follows:
6. Replace the X with either 8 or 9. Use 8 for automation-compatible, barcoded,
and machinable mail. Use 9 for all other mail.
7. Replace 666666 with your Business Entity ID.
8. Replace 000 if needed. The three digits must be filled with something —
either 000 or a value that’s useful to you.
9. Replace AP.LBL_NO only if you want to use your own method for
generating a unique serial number for identifying each sack or tray. If you
want to use AP.LBL_NO as the serial number, leave the (AP.LBL_NO)
portion of the value expression as is.
10. Click OK to close the Code 128 Barcode Properties window.
11. Double-click EX.Readable Barcode.
12. Click the Filter icon in the Value Expression box. If needed, click Yes to add
the filter syntax to the database.
13. In the Filter Builder window, in the Filter Syntax area, replace values as you
did in steps 6 – 9 above.
14. Click OK to close the Filter Builder window.
15. Click OK to close the Field Properties window.
16. Double-click EX.Business Entity ID and replace 666666 with your Business
Entity ID. Click OK to close the Field Properties window.
17. Enter your own information in place of “PRINTER LINE” at the top of the
label or remove the “PRINTER LINE” text.
18. Choose View > Label Preview to see a preview of the label.
For details about the composition of the EDL 24-digit barcode, see
The Business Entity is the only item to change in this value expression.
99 represents the application identifier and must not be changed. M
represents the type indicator and also must not be changed. DB.plt_no_rel is
for the pallet’s serial number; do not change this.
6. Replace 666666 with your Business Entity ID.
7. Click OK to close the Code 128 Barcode Properties window.
8. Double-click EX.Readable Barcode.
9. Click the Filter icon in the Value Expression box. If needed, click Yes to add
the filter syntax to the database.
