About IQ WatchFinancial institutions need to make sure that they comply with certain
government and financial industry requirements regarding whom they can an d
cannot do business with.
interdiction listsInterdiction lists, or “watch” lists, are issued by certain domestic, international
and financial organizations (like the FBI, OFAC, BIS, UN, and others). In this
document, we use the term “interdiction” and “watch” lists to refer to these lists.
Interdiction lists contain names of certain regions, governments, and persons who
have been known to participate in various (usually illegal) acts. Financial
institutions and other business types are prohibited from doing business with
persons, countries, or other entities on these lists through the United States’
Patriot Act.
There are several lists that we support in IQ Watch. We keep these lists up to date
and send you messages when there are updates to the lists.
About this guideThis guide provides installation and configuration instructions. In writing this
guide, we assumed that those responsible for installation are familiar with their
network, operating system, and database platform.
See the IQ Watch User’s Guide or the online help for detailed instructions about
how to use IQ Watch based on your user role.

Chapter 1:
Plan for installation
How you set up IQ Watch depends on your operating system and your syst em
setup. This section provides suggestions for ho w to arrange the c omponents of IQ
Watch on your system.
Chapter 1: Plan for installation

Components of IQ Watch
There are four components of IQ Watch. Each component carries out a specific
responsibility, and each needs to be a part of your setup.
IQ Watch Client (the user interface)
IQ Watch Web Service
IQ Watch application metadata database
IQ8 Server (and components)
IQ Watch ClientThis is the center for all of your task management setup. Use th e IQ Watch Client
GUI (graphical user interface) for running transactional matching, wire transfer
matching, or running batch databases against the supported interdiction list s. This
component must be installed on Windows.

IQ Watch application
metadata database
The IQ Watch application metadata database serve s a s a da ta rep osi to ry for all of
the IQ Watch application data. The IQ Watch database supports Oracle, SQL
Server, and MSDE.
IQ8 ServerThe IQ8 server powers the address cleanse and match processing in IQ Watch. It
processes batch projects launched from the web service, and transactiona l data
passed to it via the web service. The IQ8 Server can be installed on Windows or
UNIX.
Here are the subcomponents of the IQ8 Server:
IQ8 RepositoryThe repository contains configuration rules and runtime metadata. Most of the
other components of IQ8 use the IQ8 Repository either directly or indirectly. You
need to specify the IQ8 Repository in the IQ8 Server Setup window. (For
directions, see “Configure IQ8 Server components” on page 30.) Otherwise, you
won’t need to do anything with this component.
IQ8 Web ServiceThe IQ8 Web Service is the mechanism that sends and receives data between IQ
Watch and the IQ8 Server. This component is what allows you to match records
(transactional, wire transfer, and batch). It also provides the information for
progress monitoring in IQ Watch. The IQ8 Web Service must be installed on
Windows. It is installed with the IQ Watch Web Services.

Putting the components into place
Though your IQ Watch integration will always have the same components, the
location of these components could differ based on your system.
IQ8 serverIQ8 is the processing platform that provides IQ Watch with the ability to cleanse
your data and make accurate matches with interdiction lists.
The IQ8 server must be installed before you install IQ Watch. If you are installing
IQ Watch for the first time, perform the IQ8 server installation before you install
IQ Watch.
Install on Windows: For IQ Watch installation, the IQ8 Web Services is
!
installed automatically when you insta ll IQ Wat ch Web Servi ces. They must
both be installed on Windows.
Windows’ role
IQ Watch client must be installed on a Windows computer. In addition, if you
work on a Windows platform, you install the web services and IQ8 server on a
Windows system.
Chapter 1: Plan for installation
11
UNIX roleIf you work on a UNIX platform, you can install the IQ8 server on your UNIX
machine. However, IQ8 and IQ Watch Web Services must be installed on
Windows.
Your IQ Watch users must have access to the machines that ho use the servers a nd
services.

Chapter 2:
Install IQ Watch
In this section we’ll walk you through installing each component of IQ Watch,
including the IQ8 Server and We b Services.
It is important that you follow the steps in the order presented because some steps
set the stage for the next series of steps.
Chapter 2: Install IQ Watch
13
Before you install
Before you install IQ8 and IQ Watch, you or your DBA (database administrator)
must prepare your system so that you can complete your installation.
Choose a databaseThe DBA needs to decide the database type for the IQ Watch database. IQ Watch
supports Microsoft SQL Server, MSDE, and Oracle.
You need to know the database type when you install IQ Watch Web
Services.
Create a database for
the chosen type
Create a new database based on the type of database (SQL Server, Oracle, or
MSDE) chosen by your DBA. Give the new database a name unique to IQ Watch
such as IQWatch_DB.
Write down the database name because you need to enter the name later in
the installation.
Install IISYou must make sure that you have Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
installed before starting the installation procedures.
