About these notes
When you install, and then uninstall, Crystal Reports Server XI on top of
an existing installation of Crystal Reports XI, the .NET 2.0 DLL files may be removed from the Global Assembly Cache (GAC). The removal of these files from the GAC may result in missing features when you run Crystal Reports XI. To restore the .NET 2.0 DLL files, in Windows, go to the Control Panel, and click Add or Remove Programs. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click your installation of Crystal Reports, and click Change. In the Setup dialog box, click Reinstall.
In some situations, Crystal Reports Server XI Release 2 seems to install
successfully but the installed product does not work. This problem may be caused by the following:
The port you entered for MySQL may be busy.
If you uninstalled a previous version of Crystal Reports Server, your
uninstallation may have failed to free one of the ports used by the CMS. Ensure that ports 6400 to 6407 are free.
A previous installation of Crystal Reports may have left registry keys
under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects, and these registry

keys may have interfered with the installation process. Manually delete the registry keys before installing Crystal Reports Server.
During a command line installation, setup.exe may fail to initialize the
system and result in a critical failure to start the servers that Crystal Reports Server uses.
To check whether the system failed to initialize during installation, ensure the BOEInstall_0.log file is in the Logging directory instead of the
%TEMP% directory, and that all servers are started. If the BOEInstall_0.log
file is in the %TEMP% directory, or if a server is stopped, the installation has failed. See the BOEInstall_0.log file and other log files to determine the error that occured.
Upgrading and migrating issues
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI does not support an upgrade to Crystal
Reports Server XI Release 2 Service Pack 2. When you attempt this upgrade scenario, the following error message appears: “This installation is only supported for Crystal Reports Server. A Central Management Server (CMS) other than Crystal Reports Server was detected.”

Issues with .NET deployment

If you deploy InfoView on a non-default website in ISS when you install
SharePoint, the .NET Administration Launchpad does not open when you try to access it from the Business Objects program group on the Start menu in Windows. If this happens, open your web browser and type in the following URL to open the .NET deployment of InfoView:
http://machinename:portnumber/businessobjects/enter prise115/webTools/default.asp
Here machinename represents the name of the local machine, and
portnumber represents the connection port you specified during the
installation process.
If you use Microsoft SharePoint and add a report in .NET InfoView, the
following error message appears: “Failed to read data from report file C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\Hierarchial grouping.rpt. Reason: Failed to open print engine for C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\tmpreport\~ci10704bbe49a1770.rpt. Ensure that CRPE32 is installed on this computer ”. To prevent this from

occurring, deploy a .NET Web Component Adapter other than the Microsoft SharePoint Administration IIS website.

Uninstallation

An uninstallation of Service Pack 2 may remove the admin.war file. After
uninstallation, the WAR files must be deployed manually.
