Setting the BusinessObjects Enterprise environment
variables

To set up the environment variables, locate the
$BOBJEDIR/setup and source it.
Summary fields
• When you add a summary, the summary field is aligned with its default
field.
General
• The ordering of fields in the Create Report page may be different from
that specified in the Define Report Data Source page.
• It is recommended that you do not use your browser’s Back button. Use

• When creating a filter formula, spaces are required between the
operators and the brackets; otherwise, the filter will not be parsed
correctly and will cause errors.
• You cannot modify any formula in a report if that report contains one or
more Basic Syntax formulas. The formula editor supports only Crystal
Syntax. If you try to modify a report that contains a Basic Syntax formula,
an error will be displayed and the report modification session will need to
be restarted.
• The program incorrectly allows you to add a “Summary of Date” to “Sum”
and “Average” fields. You can click the Add button to add such a
summary but nothing happens when you click OK to save the changes
and close the dialog.
• When you create a report in Crystal Reports Explorer, if you attempt to
browse a field before you have added a field to the report and have
selected the report tab, the connection will fail. An error message will
appear saying, “Failed to get data source.”
Shortcut menus
• The shortcut menus in the Report tab and in the separate View window
may not work as expected.
When a database field is added to a report, the “Can Grow” flag is set by
default. This means that if the contents of the field do not fit within the
default boundary, or the boundary set in the Design tab, the height of the
boundary will increase to accommodate the contents of the field.

Report Viewer
• When you open a report via the Report tab, it will refresh. If the report
contains parameters that need prompting, they will prompt now. You can
choose to use a cascading list of values. Subsequent parameter changes
must be performed by selecting Report Parameters from the toolbar. If
you used a cascading list of values, you will need to manually type in the
new parameter values.

• If you set the number of decimal places in a number, the number
automatically rounds to the shown value. For example 53.90 will become
54 if the decimal place is changed to 2.
• If the Report Application Server (RAS) is not present or cannot be found,
a message will be shown. Check that your BusinessObjects Enterprise
system has a RAS that is both started and enabled. You can check this
from the Central Configuration Manager (CCM) or the Central
Management Console (CMC).
• The RAS needs to have a valid product keycode or users will be given an
error message. You can add and check your product keycodes in the
Authorization management area of the CMC.
• When you create a formula for a report, zeros are not displayed correctly
under the Report tab. Figures such as 0.03 are displayed as .03, and
figures such as 0.00 are not displayed at all.
