Minimum System Requirements
To use the M F823, your co mputer mus t meet the fo llowing req uirement s:

Getting Started
We know yo u’re keen to get s tarte d with BT Bus iness Mobi le Broadb and, so plea se follow th ese steps in the e xact orde r shown belo w.
Step 1: In sert the S IM into your U SB Modem
To get st arted, yo u need to ins ert your SIM c ard into the U SB Modem.

You’ll ne ed to have your la ptop swit ched on bef ore you plug th e USB Modem in .

What is B T Access Ma nager?
BT Acce ss Manage r allows you to c onnect you r laptop to th e Interne t using Ethe rnet, Wi- Fi,
inclu ding your BT Busin ess Hub, BT Wi-*a nd the BT Mobile Broadba nd network (4G , HSPA, 3G, GPRS ). *Ethern et and Wi-F i connecti ons not avai lable on Mac.

Step 3: Co nnect to th e interne t
You have a cho ice of how to mak e this rs t connecti on to comple te the setup .
i. If you ’re in ran ge of a Wi-Fi ne twork, y ou can connec t using Wi- Fi.
Please note: Wi-Fi c onnecti ons not avail able on Mac.
ii. If you are o ut and about i n an area with a m obile sign al, you can con nect to the B T Mobile net work.
Eith er way it will on ly take a few mi nutes.
Connect using Wi-Fi (not available on Mac)
1. Make sure you’r e in range of a Wi -Fi signal. T his could be f rom
your BT Busines s Hub (or similar wir eless route r) or a BT Wi- hots pot, for ex ample. If co nnectin g to a private W i-Fi signa l ensur e the route r is switche d on and work ing. Make a not e of the Wi reless Ne twork Name ( SSID) and W ireless K ey. This may be foun d on your rout er.
2. Double cli ck the BT Access Manager icon on yo ur deskto p –
when the circular dashboard screen appears, click on the central button to connect.

Conne ct using th e BT Mobile n etwork
1. Make sure you’r e in an area whi ch has a mobile s ignal.
2. PC users: Double click the BT Ac cess Manag er icon on you r desktop. W hen BT Acce ss Manager s tart s
and ini tialises t he USB Modem , click on the M obile icon to est ablish a BT M obile conne ction.

Firs t go to Start > Computer and d ouble click t he BT icon ‘CD D rive (D:) BT A M’. Please no te that the drive l etter (D: ) may be diff erent. Th en open BT Access Manager and co nnect, as a bove.
Please note: To manual ly force a conn ection to t he BT Mobile n etwork , click the sm all green Mob ile icon an d select B T Mobile Dat a.

Safe ty of Child ren

acces sories tha t are author ized by the manufacturer. Using any unauthorized acces sories may a ffect yo ur USB Modem’s performance, and violate related national regulations regarding telecom terminals.
• Avo id using the U SB Modem nea r metallic
stru ctures o r faciliti es that can em it elec tromagne t waves whic h may inter fere with the reception of signals.
• Th e USB Modem is n ot waterpr oof, pleas e keep
it dr y, free from mo isture and s tore it in a co ol place a nd away from su nlight.
• Do n ot use the USB M odem immed iately af ter
a sudde n tempera ture change . This can ca use the for mation of co ndensat ion both ins ide and outs ide the USB Mo dem, there fore do not u se it until i t has time to ac climatiz e and dry.
• Trea t the USB Mode m careful ly. Do not
drop, b end, knock o r harshly t reat it to avo id permanent damage.
• Do n ot attemp t to disass emble the US B Modem
as this w ill invalid ate your war ranty. The re are no
user s ervicea ble part s inside and on ly a quali ed
maintainer should undertake repair work.

• Pl ease power o ff the USB Mo dem when onb oard
an airc raft. In o rder to prot ect the air craft s commun ication an d navigati ons syst ems from interference, it is forbidden to use the USB
Modem i n ight. On ly use the USB M odem
befo re take off w ith the cre w’s permis sion and according to local safety regulations.

• Ob serve the l ocal regul ations re garding the
dispo sal of your pa ckaging ma terials , used USB Mod em and acces sories, a nd use recy cling facilities wherever possible.

Emergency Calls
• Th is USB Modem f unction s through re ceiving
and transmitting radio signals, and the conne ction can not be guara nteed in all condi tions. In an e mergenc y, you should no t rely s olely on the U SB Modem for e ssentia l communications.

• Your U SB Modem is a ra dio transmi tter and
recei ver. It is desi gned not to exc eed the limi ts for ex posure to ra dio waves rec ommended by international guidelines. These guidelines
were de veloped by t he indepen dent scien tic
organ ization IC NIRP and inc lude safe ty margins desig ned to assu re the prote ction of al l persons , regar dless of ag e and health .
• Th e guidelin es use a unit of m easureme nt known as the Sp ecic Ab sorption R ate, or SAR . The SAR
limit f or wireles s devices i s 2.0 W/kg and the highe st SAR valu e for this dev ice when tes ted compl ied with thi s limit.
Body-worn Operation

guide lines the US B Modem mus t be used wit h a minimu m of 1.5 cm sepa ration fr om the body. Failur e to obser ve these ins tructi ons could re sult in your R F exposure e xceeding t he relevan t guideline limits.

• Th e USB Modem is a pproved to b e used in the
membe r states o f the EU. The wi reless de vice is in comp liance with t he essent ial requir ements and oth er relevan t provisio ns of the Radi o and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive 1999/5/EC (R&TTE Directive).
