Starting Engine
This engine is shipped WITHOUT oil. See page 7 for oil recommendations, capacity, and filling details.
1. Check oil level. Remove oil filler plug. Oil should be full (almost overflowing). Replace plug before starting engine.
Safety -- When Starting Engine
CAUTION
This engine is shipped from Briggs & Stratton without oil. If you start the engine without oil, the engine will be damaged beyond repair and will not be covered under warranty.

2. Fill Petrol tank with petrol and kerosene tank with kerosene. See page 8 for recommendations and details.

WARNING
Start and run engine outdoors.
Do not start or run engine in
enclosed area, even if doors or windows are open.
WARNING
DO NOT crank engine with spark plug removed.
DO NOT start engine if there is a natural or LP gas leak in area.
Make sure spark plug, muffler, fuel cap and housings are in place and firmly secured by equipped fasteners.
Do not use pressurized starting fluids because vapors are flammable.
3. Push rocker switch to ON position.
4. Move CHOKE to choke position.

5. Move throttle control to fast position.
6. Kerosene primed with Petrol is used for starting
this engine. After it starts, this engine runs on kerosene only. Locate petrol primer bulb. Push primer five times.

WARNING
Starting engine creates sparking. Petrol and Kerosene vapors are extremely flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or death.
If fuel spills, wait until it evaporates before starting engine.
DO NOT use pressurized starting fluids.
Fuel equipment outdoors, away from open
flames, sparks and other ignition sources, such as appliances with pilot lights.
Store petrol and kerosene away from ignition
sources.

7. Grasp rope handle. Pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull rapidly to start engine and avoid kickback
PRIMER BULB
Rapid retraction of starter cord (kickback) will pull hand and arm toward engine faster than you can let go.
Broken bones, fractures, bruises or sprains could result.
Rotating parts can contact or entangle hands, feet, hair, clothing, or accessories.
Traumatic amputation or severe laceration can result.
