WHAT IS A DEHUMIDIFIER?
Your Breville dehumidifier is designed to
reduce and maintain the level of humidity in
the air as well as to prevent condensation and
mildew on the ceilings and walls.
HOW DOES A DEHUMIDIFIER WORK?
Your Breville dehumidifier regulates the
relative humidity of your home by drawing
moist, humid air from the surrounding area
and passing it over cooled evaporator coils
causing the moisture to condense into water.
The water is dispensed into the water tank or
drainage hose, while the now non-humid air is
re-warmed and passed back into the room.
WHAT IS RELATIVE HUMIDITY?
Relative humidity is the amount of water
vapour in the air and it is commonly expressed
as a percentage of the maximum amount of
water vapour that the air can hold at a given
temperature. A comfortable %RH level is
commonly considered to be between
40-60%RH.
BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Before using your dehumidifier for the
first time, remove and safely discard any
packaging material or promotional labels
attached to your air dehumidifier and air
filter.
2. Check for any missing or damaged parts as
per the components list.
3. Remove the air inlet grille and air filter
as per the Filter Cleaning & Replacement
section of this book. Remove all packaging
material from the air filter. Ensure the
air filter and the air inlet grille are fitted
correctly onto the dehumidifier before
operating.
4. Clean all parts according to the Care,
Cleaning & Storage section in this book.
5. Use the carry handles and wheels to move
the dehumidifier.
6. Position the dehumidifier away from walls,
furniture and other appliances as per the
illustration below.
7. Ensure that all filters, grilles, water tank and
drainage hose (if applicable) are correctly

WATER DRAINAGE
During the process of dehumidification, water
is created and needs to be expelled from the
dehumidifier. This dehumidifier offers three
options to drain the water.
REMOVABLE WATER TANK
(with Empty Me warning)
The removable water tank will collect water
until it reaches the water level sensor when the
tank is full. Once full, the
on the control panel will illuminate red and the
dehumidifier will cease dehumidification until
the water tank is emptied.
1. Remove the water tank as per the water tank
cleaning instructions in the Care, Cleaning &
Storage section of this book.
EMPTY ME light
NOTE
The dehumidifier will not operate if the tank
is not installed correctly, even if the drainage
hose is in use.
WARNING
Water from the dehumidifier is not suitable for
drinking. Do not drink this water, and do not
serve it to animals or use to water plants.
CONTINUOUS DRAINAGE
(hose drainage using gravity)
The continuous drainage outlet allows water to
drain without having to monitor and empty the
water tank. Ensure the hose (included) is properly
inserted before starting the dehumidifier.
10
LAD500_ANZ_IB_C19.indd 108/4/19 1:38 pm
Page 11
1. Locate the continuous drainage outlet
on the back, right hand side of the
dehumidifier, underneath the air inlet grille.
Remove the plug and insert one end of the
hose over the connection outlet, pushing in
as far as possible.
Pull out the plug
2. As the drainage is dependent on gravity for
the dehumidifier to drain correctly, no part
of the hose should sit higher than the hose
connection outlet.
3. Place the other end of the hose into a
water drain, being careful that it cannot
inadvertently come loose when water starts
to drain.
4. The water will drain from the dehumidifier
directly through the hose.
WARNING
Ensure the hose is secure in both the hose
connection and the drainage outlet and into
the water drain.
NOTE
Ensure the plug is placed back onto the
continuous drainage outlet securely when
continuous drainage is not in use.
PUMP DRAINAGE
Pump drainage allows the dehumidifier
to empty the water tank using the hose to
pump the water out of the tank when full.
This is suitable for homes where there is
a drain available within the vicinity of the
dehumidifier. It is also suitable for homes
that have drainage sources higher than the
dehumidifier, such as a sink drain, as the pump
does not rely on gravity to empty the water
tank. Ensure the hoses (included) are properly
inserted before turning on the dehumidifier.
Note, the pump suction hose can already be
found in the unit, secured in place.
1. Pull the water tank half way out from the
back of the dehumidifier.
2. Ensure that one end of the 20cm pump
suction hose is in the water tank, through
the slot located in the tank lid (see
illustration below) and that it hits the
bottom of the tank.
The pump suction
hose is inserted into
the water.
3. Locate the pump suction joint on the
right hand side between the tank and the
dehumidifier body. Ensure the other end of
the pump suction hose is securely over the
suction joint.
The other end is connected
to the suction joint.
4. Fit the water tank back into the
dehumidifier, ensuring both ends of the
20cm hose piece remain securely in place.
11

Page 12
5. Locate and remove the blue pump outlet
clip from the drainage outlet on the
opposite side of the dehumidifier, and set
aside for later use. Insert one end of the
8m pump drainage hose into the pump
drainage outlet, ensuring the hose is pushed
in as far as possible.
Remove the blue
pump outlet clip
NOTE
Keep the blue outlet pump clip in a safe place
for future use if the pump drainage is no
longer required.
NOTE
If the 8m hose is too long, it can be cut to the
desired length.
6. Place the other end of the drainage hose
into a drainage source such as a bathroom
floor drain or laundry sink.
7. Press the
drainage and the PUMP ON light will
illuminate on the control panel. The pump
will enter standby mode and will only drain
once the water tank is full. The pump will
stop draining after 15 minutes. This cycle
will continue each time the tank is full.
PUMP button to start pump
9. Remove the drainage hose from the rear of
the unit.
10. Replace the blue pump outlet clip, placing
it between the ring and base of the
pump outlet.
DEFROST
This dehumidifier is equipped with an
automatic defrost function. The evaporator
may start auto-defrosting if operating in a
room temperature that is less than 23°C.
1. If the
DEFROST light turns on,
defrosting has automatically started. The
fan will operate on HIGH during defrost
and dehumidification will stop.
2. Automatic defrost will operate for up to
5 minutes.
WARNING
Do not disconnect the plug or turn
off the unit during defrost operation.
NOTE
If at any time the pump needs to be activated
manually during dehumidification, press and
hold the
the pump will automatically begin and run for
8 minutes, then turn off.
8. If pump drainage is no longer required,
hold the PUMP button down until
the PUMP ON light is off. Ensure the
dehumidifier is switched off and unplug
from the power outlet.

with a slightly damp cloth only.
WARNING
WATER LEVEL SENSOR
The water level sensor is situated in a chamber
found in the corner of the water tank and is held
in place by the water tank cover (see illustration
below). The sensor rises and falls with the level
of the water, and should not be removed as it
will prevent the dehumidifier from operating.
If the sensor inadvertently falls out of the water
tank during cleaning, replace it back into the
sensor chamber, ensuring the magnetic strip
faces inside towards the dehumidifier.
Do Not
Remove
Do not clean the control panel with a damp
cloth. Do not clean the unit with gasoline,
thinner or liquid detergent to avoid deformation
and fission of the unit. The cloth may contain
chemicals which may change the colour of the
dehumidifier.
NOTE
Using a brush may scratch the dehumidifier.
Do not use any objects that may scratch the unit.
WATER TANK CLEANING
NOTE
The dehumidifier cannot operate if the tank is
full or is not installed correctly. Clean the water
tank once a week if used regularly.
1. Remove the water tank from the front of
the dehumidifier by holding the sides and
pulling outwards.
2. Leaving the water tank cover in place, run
tap water into the tank using the holes in the
cover. Swish the water around the tank then

WARNING
This dehumidifier uses a refrigerant compressor. The noise from the compressor turning off and
on during operation is normal.
The filter is too dirty.
•
The air inlet or outlet are
•
blocked.
The dehumidifier is on an
•
uneven surface.
The room humidity level may
•
be outside of the radar of the
dehumidifier.
The room temperature is
•
too low.
The wet clothes are not
•
exposed to the air from the
unit.
The room is too large for the
