into water in the form of micro-bubbles. These micro-bubbles in the water stream attack plaque bacteria. At the same time, the irrigator removes remaining food particles from between your teeth and massages your gums. Always use the irrigator after brushing your teeth.
Please read the use instructions carefully before first use.
Important
The appliance must be mounted in a way that it cannot fall into water. The plug should always be accessible. Periodically check the cord for damage. A damaged or non-functioning appliance should no longer be used. Take it to a Braun Service Center.

• Plug the appliance into an electrical outlet and place the toothbrush handle 3 on the charger base 1.
• The blue charge indicator 2 flashes while the handle is being charged. If you then use your brush and place it back on the charger base, the charging light will again flash to let you know it is charging.
• When the handle is fully charged, the charge indicator shines continuously. A full charge takes at least 16 hours and enables approximately two weeks of regular brushing.
• When the rechargeable battery is running low, your toothbrush will slow down, then stop.
• For everyday use, the toothbrush handle can be stored on the charger base to maintain it at full power. Overcharging is impossible.
• To maintain the maximum capacity of the rechargeable battery, refrain from placing the handle on the charger base and fully discharge it through regular use at least every 6 months.
Customized Speed Control
®
Oral-B
ProfessionalCare™ 8900 DLX offers a variable
range of speeds to best meet your individual needs. High speed is ideal for tooth and gumline cleaning. For cleaning sensitive teeth and gum tissue as well as precision use of the accessory (III), we recommend using a lower speed.
• Press the on/off button once to operate at maximum speed.
• Continue to hold the on/off button to shift from the highest speed to the Customized Speed Control mode.
• As long as you keep the on/off button pressed, the handle will continuously run through all speed levels.
• Release the on/off button to brush at your preferred speed level.
• Push the on/off button once more to turn the toothbrush off.
• If you then turn it on again you will automatically come back to the maximum speed level.

• Attach one of the brushheads to the handle. They can be used with any kind of toothpaste.
• To avoid splashing, guide the brushhead to your teeth before switching the appliance on.
• Guide the brushhead slowly from tooth to tooth.
• Hold the brushhead in place for a few seconds before moving on to the next tooth.
• Brush the gums as well as the teeth, first the outsides, then the insides, finally the chewing surfaces.
• Do not press too hard or scrub, simply let the brush do all the work.
Pressure Sensor For optimum brushing results Oral-B 8900 DLX has a pressure control feature to ensure that the
right degree of pressure is applied. This helps protect your gums from excessive brushing and makes your toothbrush easy to operate. If too much pressure is applied, the oscillating movement of the brushhead will continue but the pulsation will stop. In addition to feeling it, you can also hear a different sound.
Professional Timer
A short stuttering sound at 30-second intervals, which you can hear and feel, reminds you to brush the four quadrants of your mouth equally for a better overall clean.
2-Minute Timer
A long stuttering sound indicates when the dentist recommended 2-minute brushing time has been reached.
During the first few days of using the toothbrush, your gums may bleed slightly. In general, bleeding should stop after a few days. Should it persist after 2 weeks, please consult your dentist or hygienist.

Brushheads and accessories The Oral-B
®
ProfessionalCare™ 8900 DLX offers you a
variety of brushheads and accessories, allowing you to select those which best meet your individual needs. They are all designed for daily use:
I FlexiSoft
The FlexiSoft
®
brushhead
®
brushhead features our outstanding oscillating-pulsating action to effectively clean your teeth, along the gumline and in hard-to-reach areas such as behind teeth. The green FlexiSoft
®
bristles bend, enabling both gentle brushing and deeper reach of the blue Interdental Tips between teeth.
II Oral-B PowerPolisher™ brushhead
The Oral-B PowerPolisher™ brushhead is specifically designed to polish and naturally whiten your teeth by removing coffee, tea and tobacco stains. Although you can use any kind of toothpaste, a whitening paste is likely to result in a better whitening performance. We do not recommend using the Oral-B PowerPolisher™ brushhead with braces.
Apply the same brushing technique as described in the section «Brushing technique» for both brushheads.
Both brushheads feature blue INDICATOR
®
bristles to help you monitor brushhead replacement need. With thorough brushing, twice a day for two minutes, the blue color will fade halfway within 3 months, signaling it is time to change the brushhead.
III Tongue Freshener
The Tongue Freshener freshens breath by removing odorcausing bacteria from the tongue. It can be used every day – before or after brushing. You can also use mouthwash with the Tongue Freshener.
Attach it to the handle, turn the appliance on and drag it across the tongue from back to front. We recommend a low speed setting for enhanced control during use. Rinse after use. Replace the Tongue Freshener when materials become worn.

Before using for the first time, fill the water container t and allow the water to run through completely by holding the irrigator handle r over a washbasin.
1. Attach one of the irrigator jets 8 to the handle until it locks into place. Fill the water container with water and add mouthwash, if desired.
2. Turn on the irrigator by pressing the on/off switch q. (When doing so, the handle switch e should be in the lower position = water stop).
3. Select the water pressure with the pressure control dial w (1 = gentle, 5 = strong). We recommend that you start with setting 1, especially if your gums tend to bleed or if children are using the irrigator.
4. Bend over a washbasin and guide the jet to your teeth and gums. Slide the handle switch e up to start the water stream. Keep your mouth slightly open to allow the water to run into the washbasin.

You can choose between two different jet functions by sliding the jet switch 9 down or up (before doing so, turn off the water stream by sliding the handle switch down):
Rotatin
g stream: for general cleaning and gum massage (jet switch in lower position). The rotation of the water stream and its micro-bubbles is designed for easy penetration. Mono str (jet switch in upper position).
Max. operating time: 15 minutes Cooling off time: 2 hours
To ensure the jet functions, a small sieve is incorporated in the lower end of the shaft. Should you notice a reduced water pressure, check the sieve for any deposits and remove them, e.g. by carefully tapping the shaft on a flat surface.
