Subject: Potentially Defective AC line cord shipped with systems
Disposition: On all UK Version SoundDock Digital Music systems built before March 20th 2008 (DOM 8080) that come in for repair, replace all non-Unielec AC line cords with a new Unielec AC line cord, Bose part number 280138-001 (black) or 280138-002 (arctic white) as appropriate.
Potentially defective AC line cords were sent out with systems built before the above date. These cords were made by vendors other than Unielec. The example shown below was made by Ningbo Yunhuan. These cords may not connect with the AC input connector on the bass module properly, resulting in intermittent operation or other safety related problems.
The service center MUST provide a new Unielec version AC line cord to all customers that send in a SoundDock system for repair that was built before the above date. If the customer did not send in the AC line cord with the product, the service center MUST instruct the customer to replace the non-Unielec AC line cord with the Unielec AC line cord, and to discard the other version. The name of the manufacturer is typically molded into the plug. The Unielec name is molded into the plug end of the cord. Refer to the photos below.
If you have a unit in for repair that you suspect was damaged by a non-Unielec power cord, you are required to contact Bose Corporation with information about the failure. Email the Bose Europe Customer Service group at support_uk@bose.com or contact your local Bose representative. Be sure to include the customer's name and address, AC cord manufacturer, system DOM and serial numbers and extent of damage to the unit.
