Potential issue with DVD drive.
Subject:
Inspect AV28 media centers within the date range as noted below.
Disposition:
264563-B5
Symptom: DVD drive inoperative or no symptom.
Reason: There is a potential for premature spindle motor failure in DVD drive part number 266439-001.
A mechanical interference between the motor and its case may result in pieces of metal in the motor’s
lubricant.
Solution: The part number is affixed to the DVD drive. Inspect AV28 media centers within the Date Of
Manufacture (DOM) range as follows:
USA units built between 6/3/02 and 9/12/02 should be checked for the presence of DVD drive part number
266439-001 (DOM range 2154-2255).
All non-USA units built before 9/12/02 should be checked for the presence of DVD drive part number
266439-001 (units with a DOM before 2255).
If a DVD drive part number 266439-001 is found in an AV28 media center, replace it with part number
268231-003.
