Symptom: If C642 has failed, there will be no video output when using the Component or S-video
output.

Reason: C642 could be installed backwards and may fail or has failed.

Solution: Check the polarity of C642, located on the main PCB assembly part number 267027-0 REV 0,

in units manufactured between March 25, 2002 and September 16, 2002 . The polarity of C642 is indi­cated by a brown mark on the capacitor. The brown marked end of C642 should be facing the other
yellow capacitor located next to it. If C642 is found to be installed backwards, replace it with a new part,
part number 188588-105. The location and correct orientation of C642 is shown in the figure below.

Note: The affected PCB’s part number 267026 is located on the board below a triangle showing the PCB
revision number.
