Subject:FB1 failure/potential failure.
Disposition: Inspect all units manufactured before 04/01/02 as a preventative repair measure.
Symptom: If FB1 has failed the unit will not turn on.
Reason: FB1 may have been physically stressed during manufacturing.
Solution: Set a multimeter to measure resistance, and verify the meter reads 0.0 ohm when the two probes are touching each other. Measure the resistance using the two nodes shown circled. Do not probe the ferrite bead directly. It should measure less than 1.00 ohm.
Using a magnifier, visually inspect FB1 for physical damage such as a fracture. Look closely at the two connecting points on the part.
If the resistance measurement is greater than 1.00 ohm or there is any sign of physical damage to the part, replace FB1 part number 256116-181.
Note: The date of manufacture is designated by the four underlined numbers in the serial number. The first underlined number is the year and the next three are the day. 04/01/02 would be the 91st day of 2002 and would be shown in the serial number as 2091.
