Freightliner XC Chassis Handling Solutions
I have to keep both hands on the steering wheel, even on good roads, with no wind.
Solution: A TruCenterTM Steering Control will hold the Tie Rod with up to 270 lbs of
pressure. This will make your vehicle go straighter without constant steering wheel
correction. It will be much easer to drive with less fatigue, and all front end parts, and
tires will last longer.
I can’t relax when I am driving. I am always correcting the steering wheel.
Solution: The XC Chassis has one Bell Crank on the left front frame rail that can freeze
up and cause this problem. Replace the OEM bell crank with a HD Roller Bearing Bell
Crank such as Super Steer.
I am concerned about a Front tire blowout.
Solution: A TruCenterTM Steering Control will hold you in a straight ahead position,
even with a front tire blowout.
I always have to steer into a side wind, or road crown. It where’s me out!
Solution: With the push of a button mounted on the dash, a TruCenterTM Steering
Control will Re-center itself to compensate for side winds or road crown. This feature
makes driving in winds a whole lot easer.
My coach rocks side to side violently when I am going into a fuel stop or a rural
camp ground. It also leans hard to one side in a sharp corner.
Solution: Air Bag restrictor valves prevent air in the air bags from rushing from one air
bag to the other greatly reducing the side to side rock and roll. They also help if your
coach porpoises or dives under hard braking.
My coach porpoises when I hit a dip in the road.
Solution: Bilstein Shocks make an extra HD front shock for the XC chassis.
